Stanley Stanfield is the inventor of the Vanishing Ray, a wearable device which, when active, leaves only the user's shadow still visible. After meeting with fellow scientist, Carl Van Dorn, a prototype Ray is built. Stanley intends to sell bonds to finance his invention. He inherited them from his late father, the publisher and editor of the local Tribune newspaper, but the stockbroker he meets is corruptly involved with Wade Barnett, the businessman who hounded Stanley's father to his death. Barnett wants the bonds and will go to any length to acquire them. A conflict ensues between Stanley and Barnett during the 12 chapter serial. However, Stanley's new girlfriend, Gloria Grant, is really Gloria Barnett, his enemy's estranged daughter. Neither hero nor villain wants to see Gloria hurt and must work around this motive in their on-going struggle. Развлечения
Another great print with excellent audio!!!!….really like the UNIVERSAL serials!!!
Can't wait to watch this i love the old serials and movies thanks for posting for our enjoyment
It was cool seeing young Lee J Cobb having a speaker part in scene with the road workers. He did a good job playing angry, disgruntled men even then.
The Univeral Studios New York City set and the stock footage of a crowded city match so well to the exterior shots filmed in rural, mountainous Los Angeles County!
For an early serial from 1935 this is a lot of fun. This is the second watch for me.
Love how the Professor pops his cork and goes nutso.
🥰 Thank you 😍 A great serial 👍 In watching these serials , nice to see the cast is filled with players from all my favorite old western movies 🤠🐴🐄 Most all are cowboy 🤠 bad guys in the westerns and villain , bad guys in these serials 🤣😃😄 Nov . 7 , 2023

I think so too, better than the dam trash they come up with today.
@@charlottewhyte9804 So true ❤👍
Thank you for posting this clear video, considering that it was made in 1935. Many of the Republic serials are not as clear as this video.
Remarkable!

Love this so far. Thanks for the upload.
Thank you for uploading these old suspense films.
1:18:12 Sixty cents for a cab ride. I love it.
Same lol
In 1964, in Minneapolis, you could ride a cab for a couple of blocks for 35 cents. *Now it's $5.00 just to get in the cab.
@@leelarson107 Wow! For $5.00 just to get in the cab, the driver better be HELPING me in.
That robot is pretty hokey, like something I could have built in High School. **But the street scenes are terrific, of a world long gone and which shouldn't be gone.
1935 for Christ sake. It’s amazing.

For 1935, The Robot so Amazing
@@alfredlukasek8644 You're missing the point. It is the society which has disappeared that counts, not some crummy robot...........'for the Christ's sake'. *Grow up.

Ooooo, Robots!!! Thanks for this.
Great movie!!
A cute ending the vanishing couple, sad her father died but at least he changed his heart to leave her a good future!!!!!!!
Love these old series.
Resolution is excellent.
I watched this on the remastered Kino Lober Blu-ray release. A lot of fun.
Such a wonderful movie and presented in such visual clarity. If time travel were only possible!
This was so much fun!
Just getting started but absolutely fantastic clarity and quality. Nice...👍
Fun just looking at the old cars.
Best serial I've ever seen with the exception of the original Flash
Gordon serials with Buster Crabbe. Thank you for uploading; it was a real treat.
agree absolutely.
Them "Rides" 😍😍wat else to say😎🥳🥳🤗
The plot is well done!
That was fun! And a surprise ending. But how were 4 ruffins going to travel in a 2 seat biplane?
Good quality video too.
The cars in this series knock me out !
I'd forgotten about this. I have a distinct memory of segments being shown on a local tv station (maybe 7:30 p.m.) as a sort of educational program tied in with some supplementary materials at school which we'd do...whatever it was. Too long ago to recall much, this was back somewhere in the early-mid 70's. Does anyone else recall anything like this from school days?
Another recollection of the program: they used the Billy Preston instrumental 'space race' as an introductory theme..
I remember our local station doing the same thing showing it at 7:30 as some sort of special thing. This would have been 74-76 maybe? I recall them pointing out Lee J. Cobb when he came on screen.
Yes! Space Race was the opening music!
Realy i like watchung clasict film
Well I see where Star Trek got the idea for the robot from Captain Proton!
I feel sorry for some of the people who have to wear the robots in some of these movies. It must have been hot in them
Ha ha her skirt isn't moving while in the parachute 😮
The Robot was better than Dr. Satans has 😇. It was prototype for R2D2 and C3PO👍👍
Maybe someone will make a retro serial one of these days. Even do it as a B&W. But with modern sound and video. But as cheesy as the old ones, because that's the charm of these things IMO. I gotta say, I looked at his schematic, and DAMN was it simple. Maybe I need to build some retro electrical sci fi gizmo at home, if I could only master osmotic pressure like the good scientist. I can see why Robby the Robot was so much more popular than this robot. Looks like it got hit by an ugly robot stick. Ada was a pretty woman.
sadly the professor died shortly after filming this movie

Nice effect for the time. Doing more with less.
The part of the robot was played by a non-union actor - because disguised - by a robot suit - so cheaper - because budget blown on the suit - because skilled tradesmen fabricating robot suits aren't so cheap - because tradesman's union. Win some lose some.
This guy is so skinny ,I don't think He is going to win any fight with out the help of a Stunt man!
Watch how in fights the hats don't fall off ,that's to hide the stunt men!
The blasting crew foreman looks like Lee J Cobb.
He is!
What no plink plink when the bullets hit the robot?
So this is the true origin of Iron Man! lol
Their vanishing ray was better than the one made in dick tracy show, the robot made in this show was made between war times when materials were scarce because most materials were being used to support our troops. They made whatever they could and needed for their purpose,it worked, they got movies and tvshows, too!!!!!! Not bad at all!!!!!!!!
This was filmed well before the start of WWII. 1934.
Me too i. Always say Grab me
FYI: This was released in 1934
You're right. Typo on my part.
Grab Me at start an ill stay not sway😎
Pity about the bo@#dy adverts, 😡 grrrrr lol 😂
Sorry about that. RUclips piles them on and I haven't had the chance to move them to in-between the episodes.

It's like the wheelbarrow mate it's in front of you. lol.
I really love these old black and white serials from the 30s , they are exciting for the time period they were made, between these and Charlie chan, etc. I'm well pleased.
So keep up the good work and keep on posting these wee gems.
@@mikeymike3240 hey Mike. Refresh the channel. You should only see ads between the episodes now.
