It is music like this that soothes the soul. I live in Minneapolis Minnesota on day 5 of rioting and watching a beautiful city burn to the ground. From isolation to anarchy...unfortunately this country is going to burn to the ground until police brutality, social and economic inequality are addressed. This pandemic and the murder of George Floyd and so many others before him have unleashed the voices of the unheard. As I drove yesterday through this beautiful city past the embers of a police building burned to the ground, there were a diversity of people represented who wore their masks and many did the best they could with social distancing as they cleaned the debris in the streets. Many held signs however, stating this is the voice of the unheard. There were however, in random places drummers, guitarist and sax players all but the sax player in 😷 masks were doing their part to bring some beauty that binds us all-music. Be well all and be safe.

A Martine Me too. Ever since childhood. It's crazy how that has happened. Her music has a way of captivating the soul. My mom and dad used to listen to her music when I was just a small child. Little did I know they had big problems between each other that I never knew existed until I was a lot older. At the time of my childhood, my parents were the love of each other's lives but my father could not break away from his drug addiction which in turn was the devastating result of my parents splitting apart. Life goes on though, what can you do...... p.s. sometimes I *WANT* to fall into that deep unknown...😢😢😢

Compare this song to "Smooth Operator," and her voice is notably deeper and a bit gravelier here. And she still sounds FANTASTIC, with richness and colors not apparent in her earlier work, hence the fine wine analogy. It's important to acknowledge that women do in fact age, but that that in no way diminishes their talents and abilities.

I've been listening to Sade since I was a child in the 80s and I now know how lucky I am that this music existed back then and continues to live on today. Listening to Sade gives me peace, love, comfort and deep closeness to being. Especially now that my father is no longer here and my tears will never dry, this music is like a warm coat that hugs me forever.
