Your tinsel comment gave me a giggle. I think you’re blessed to have such dark hair. Those of us with fair skin and lighter hair just start to look washed out once we go grey-not always, but maybe that’s just my bias!-I think silvery grey hairs in dark hair looks really pretty and sophisticated.
I learned to crochet when I was a child and I think it is a lovely art as well, but I fell in love with knitting as an adult, mainly because of the challenge of it. I know there are many cool types of crochet, such as Tunisian that adds complexity to the craft, but it doesn’t stir my passion the way that knitting does. Knitting to me feels like a puzzle that wants to be solved, combined with sparking creativity, makes it irresistible.

You are so right about knitting. I don’t know why its such a satisfying art! And the look of it is so beautiful.

Your boxy is stunning! It looks so ethereal! My children are all grown, but our middle child took a long while for them to spread their wings to leave the nest, and I thought I would be okay when they finally moved out last month, but I'm really not. Motherhood is an epic rollercoaster ride. We fool ourselves thinking it will get easier, but it doesn't because of that connection you were talking about. Motherhood is the greatest and the worst love story ever if that makes any sense whatsoever. I cherish every minute I get to see or talk to my babies.
Current reading for me is my Bible. Another great episode Ms. Leena.

Hi Adriana-that struck me so much. It is the greatest and worst love story-so so so true! I suppose it might be the only type of love that teaches us to love by letting go. It is cruel, indeed. We give everything we have, and then we have to watch them fly. I’m sending you love and support in this transitional season. You will find your feet under you again very soon, I am sure. Find comfort and joy where you can.

Your lace and fade is gorgeous! I am so behind on podcasts, but yes march flew and now April is doing the same! We just had spring break and I told my daughter now until summer break will FLY by! She loves school, so the end of school crushes her sweet little spirit and many tears will be shed. And I love the summer lifestyle, but it makes me sad because each ending of a school year is a bitter reminder of how fast the years fly by. Ok I’ll stop typing now and resume watching 😂
Ok I am back! I love love your life chats at the end. The best. Mothers understand mothers in a way that no other group of people do I think. When I see in the news of another school shooting it aches in my heart thinking of those mothers, I mean writing this I have tears. Or when a child is sick I feel deeply for their mother. Even to be honest when the George Floyd tragedy happened and he called out for his mother, I think we all felt it in some way. So when one of us feels something hard we all just know. ❤❤❤

Your lace and fade boxy turned out lovely! Your latest project the knit to purl gap issue…… I’ve experienced the same thing 😩😬🤬 I’ve tried just about every option there is without great success and all I’ve learnt for myself personally, is when I transition from a k to a p, after I’ve done the p, I just give the yarn a good yank 🤭 move on and get back into flow. I’ll be excited to hear if other people have suggestions.
Knitting thrills me endlessly. I’ve always been a sewer so I understand pattern design, and I think of knitting as just creating fabric. I’m obsessed💪🏻
If we do our job correctly as a mother, then we raise independent, self soothing capable adults, but that’s really hard as you watch them fly. My son is 25 and every time I see him I squeal with delight, fortunately he adores me and gives the best hugs.
I have a tattoo of a lotus flower on my back and it has many meanings for me, but one I love is: “No mud, no lotus!” Happy knitting, happy birthday 🎁💕

Another wonderful podcast! ❤ So much resonated with me again. Just last week I did the same thing with a sleeve! 😂🤣😂 I let it go as well, and I'm pretty sure no one will ever be the wiser. Your Lacy Boxy is stunning on you! My heart goes out to you as a parent having to let go. I have always been extremely close to my children, and it is bittersweet when they fly out of the nest to meet the world on their own. Of course the goal is to help them become independent and successful adults, which they all are, but the selfish me wanted them to stay clinging to my skirt and looking up with adoring eyes and needing Mama forever. 😜 It's a rush, no doubt about it. My only son, my youngest, is 27 and is living far away in NYC, and my four daughters are in their thirties and forties and are all moms themselves now. I am so proud of each of them. Seeing your children reach adulthood is such a gift, and seeing them become parents is just the cherry on top. Hope you have a lovely trip! Happy birthday! My youngest daughter turned 35 this week. March has such a beautiful birthstone! ❣️

Every stage has its gifts and its challenges, doesn’t it. I just pray that they will always want me in their lives. Happy birthday to your sweet daughter! See you soon!

Nice to see you again! When I purl a stitch after a knit stitch, I purl the stitch then bring the yarn back to knitting position, give it a tug, then bring back to purling position, and continue to purl. I use this method whenever I do ribbing. It will tighten up that gap. Works for me! 😊

Suzanne Bryan has a fairly in-depth video about the problem you are seeing in ribbing - "Enlarged Knit Before Purl". She offers two solutions, one of which is the one you're trying. You may like the video because Suzanne goes into *why* the problem happens.

    • @AnotherKnittingPod
      @AnotherKnittingPod  Год назад

Oh my gosh you saved so much headache for me! I found her videos last night and was astonished that this is a common problem. Andrea Mowry had explained the solution incorrectly. You have to wrap the yarn in the opposite direction for the knit before the purl, not the purl after the knit.
I truly can’t thank you enough! I wouldn’t have even know what to search for, I had no idea this was a technical problem. I can’t wait to share about this in my next pod. Thank you thank you!

Happy Birthday. If I understand correctly, the issue is going from the knit section to the purl section. In my knitting, I notice the wonky knit stitches less when working ribbing (like 2x2 and 3x3). Where it makes me crazy is when doing cable work. I think it's the transition from the knit sections to the purl sections that make that edge knit stitch wonky. Unfortunately, I'm going off memory as I have no WIP to look at and explain properly. Years ago I found a tutorial that address this situation and I forget now the technique I tried, but I recall it helped a little. I think it was either knitting the last knit stitch before the purl section through the back loop; or, it was purling the first stitch after the knit section through the back loop. Hope you find a resolution.
