They currently don't have a bass player who is officially apart of the band, and I'm not sure if they have one in general, official or not. I remember when I was in a band in a similar situation with our vocalist/rhythm guitarist just plugging the rhythm guitar into the bass amp. It totally worked. 😂
Yeah, this is boring as fuck. Does nothing novel or interesting at literally any point in the song. This is just the band continually watering their sound down until they reach a point where it is bland enough to be enjoyable to the average listener who can't follow music that does anything more than clobber you over the head with a quarter note pulse like this song does. How can people think this is good when bands like thoughtcrimes, Genghis Tron, and Rollo Tomassi exist?
This is so boring. Like these realize that you can write rhythms on off-beats and stuff, too, right? Because being locked into a quarter note pulse makes the entire song sound like 1 measure repeated for the entire duration of the song. This kind of bland monotony is so obviously low-effort compared to what more creative, talented, and adventurous bands are doing right now.
@@arlexis52 Kicks ass compared to what? Like what really matters here is your basis for comparison, because based on what I've heard this is by-the-numbers genericore, the electric soundfont doesn't somehow make it more creative or interesting, especially when everyone else is doing it too. Almost like it's a fad. Huh, imagine that: Creatively bankrupt band adheres to popular songwriting fads. Like do you just turn your brain off for that other 95% of the verses that is just rehashing the same thing over and over? How do you not get bored when the song does nothing worth listening to? So I can only assume that you just haven't heard a wide range of music, or probably anything outside of this Octane Radio sphere of metal, because this as average as it gets in the wider world of music. Like Genghis Tron has already done multiple far more interesting permutations of blending core elements with electronics than this or anything Northlane will likely ever do.
@@alondite215what I think you are missing in your analysis of this song is the use of edm in Northlane's songs (especially in this song.) Most bands that utilize EDM elements in their songs use it as a little extra flare to their music. Northlane's music as of late had intergated EDM into their sound. Me growing up listening to different forms of EDM and coming to listen to Northlane's take on the mix of progressive metal core and EDM, I can hear that they are writing with intention of their synth being an integral part of the song. Not just a prop. Which is what I find MANY BANDS who use EDM elements in their songs doing. It'll be pushed up in production, sometimes given it's own section just to repeat the same loop or two that we've heard before just that this time, there is no guitars or vocals... that's boring and not innovative. Boring to you.. that is a fair comment. Yet to rag on Northlane about how it is unoriginal is an incorrect analysis on what they are doing with their music
@@christopherlane6372 You're just talking about superficial sound font. "EDM" as in electronic sounds, not EDM musical composition. The song is boring because the notes-on-the-page songwriting is bland, egregiously repetitive, and does nothing attention-grabbing or even worth paying attention to. The music is just...there. This entire song feels like it was cobbled together just to give the obnoxious sing-a-long chorus a reason to exist.
This song IS INSANE

one of the most boring songs i’ve heard tbh.
It's okay to be wrong. ❤
Same.
Mediocre band
You must be a Justin Bieber fan. It’s ok to not understand what greatness sounds like.
Justin Beiber is a little loser!
