A palate expander is an oral device used to widen a narrow upper jaw. Your orthodontist might recommend a palate expander if you have a crossbite, overcrowded teeth or other dental conditions. Depending on your age and the severity of your condition, you might need to wear a palate expander for a few weeks, several months or even up to one year. Cost vary 1-2.000$ to 3/4000$ depending who you go to/ orthodontist
He also referred me to an orthodontist, and they told me I'd need my upper jaw bone broken to expand my palate through surgery. I cried. They will not help me.
@@mavenskeepactually the devise that she showed doesn’t really expand the palate. It acts only on teeth (on their position). In case of a narrow palate, as diagnosed by you dentist, in order to really expand it if you are an adult, the only way is through a surgery
@@mavenskeepResearch the SOMA device, that would be the ideal thing to get but I've only found one practitioner using it in the US. Traditional palate expanders are not as good and likely more expensive, but you could also try finding a holistic or biological dentist or myofascial practitioner in your area and see if they can help you. But the SOMA is what you really want.
Me too, unnecessary orthodontics (my teeth were straight but they wanted to change the shape of my bite anyway! Parents forced me) tilted all my teeth inward from braces squeezing them in and it's too dramatic for mewing to fix, I mew regularly but I know it'll never be enough.
I believe she is speaking about myofunctional therapy which would not make your masseters bigger. Myofunctional therapists consider enlarged masseters a myofunctional red flag. In myo if your tongue posture is correct than you are not clenching your jaw.
@mavenskeep hi there, I'm sorry to hear that... I just posted a comment under this vid I wonder may help or be appropriate for you, I was saying about making adjustments using sports gum shields and making molds
I tried to get one from my dentist and they said they could only prescribe it if they monitored my sleeping and could diagnose sleep apnea, which I don't think I have. If there's another way I want to know too.
Yeah! Generally you would get it under the advice of a dentist and/or physical therapist. If you are in NYC you can check out them: www.dentalwellnessairway.com/
Interestingly, i saw a youtube vid on how to make your own brace, maybe the same principal could be applied.. you make a mold of teeth demo was on top row, with tin foil. Then mix flour salt and water and fill the tin foil shape. Once dry this mix is the cast onto which you press a sports gum shield. For the brace you repeated this three times, slightly reshaping the mold before the cast dried. Mum and I are going to try this for the widening idea.

Sandra, Can you please elaborate more on the palate expander/extender?
Ahhh, smart girl! The palate expander also keeps the sphenoid bone (thus, your full face) totally symmetric✨
🧛🏻♀️🖤
@sebumpostmortem What is a palate expander? Where do you get it?
First time over heard of tongue posture and the palette expander!
You are so inspiring 💕
I'm so happy to have found your channel. I want to do gua sha right.
Love you for that ❤
How do you get a palate expander 🥺
You go to the dentist and ask or see an orthodontist, it’s basically a metal version of Invisalign
@@RO-B96 yeah so I went to a dentist and they said I needed to prove I had sleep apnea before I could get it. I don't have sleep apnea.

Right… but you have Asian skin which is known to be thicker and have more collagen and fat which keeps the face looking younger and fuller longer
U Can just fat graft
How many strokes do you do per position in gua sa?
There's no hard and fast rule!
You have a beautiful youthful face already! Filler would look bizarre on you.
who edit your videos?
I’ve been mewing/tongue posture up for about 3 years, the only thing I’d say is it made masseter muscles bigger 😂

If you achieved masseter hypertrophy, you were clenching😰

Is it okay to use Jade guasha tool
Yup! Here we're using one made of Nephrite Jade
I wore a palate expander from age 4 to 7
Palate expander? Is that something you get from a dentist?
Following this comment ❤
