It's funny how everyone hating in the comments couldn't even afford a new Escalade. Most of y'all pushing an 06' with high mileage and the check engine light on 😂
It's funny how you think anyone with a brain who can afford an Escalade would actually buy an Escalade instead of MUCH better SUV's out there for the same money. It's literally the worst big SUV in the world.
love when people say there are better x than this x. so many better and cheaper. but never ever list even one example from the dozens they claim to exist. escalades are nice but also priced for status as is the Mercedes g65. I know people who own both and the Mercedes is known for being pricier especially in upkeep. but the Mercedes is super solid for off road use, one of the best stock vehicles ever. but lacks comfort that you would find for over 25,000 bucks less. again status off road ability and other features make it awesome. the escalade is comfortable but also sporty for an suv think 0-60 is about 6 seconds. only suv I know for sure beats it is the g65 amg in about 5.0 seconds which is insane for the weight and aerodynamics. for true value of a car look at its value 2-4 years after new. that's the real market for what people will pay including known reliability.
I have a 2007 Escalade and it works great just like this 2016. They are pretty cable doing some light off roading and when you have a situation like this they will lock the rear axle and use traction control to distribute power to the wheel with more traction.
Everyone griping on how he didn't take it off the actual road for "off-road testing" What y'all don't realize is he was testing how well it could keep it's grip and momentum in off road conditions. This little hump was plenty enough to make a controlled test rather than beating the hell out of it continuously dropping it in and out of a flooded ditch.
I thought it did will compared to a lot of the SUVs and Crossovers this channel tests. On a lot of them when a tire is spinning in the air you can hear the brake slowly applying pressure to stop the spin and get it to climb.
G80 is a decent piece. Gm has used it forever and that should tell ya about the capability of their trucks for a very long time. It works really well in real life.
I hated the AWD system on my Chevy Avalanche.... However... $645 later, and one long Saturday of getting dirty it works flawlessly. No more spin banging to engage the front axle. Installed a Truetrac Hexical Worm Gear Differential. Ordered it from Randys Ring and Pinion. Now I'm able to drive on the beach and etc without fear of one tire bogging me down. Never got around to installing the front (model wasn't available at the time). But to save you from making my mistake, some of the ring gears attaching to the differential are LH thread on most models. Realized this after sheering one of the bolts off trying to take the old diff out. Lucky for me the local shop was able to tap the sheared one out, and took the pleasure of mounting and trying the gear to my new diff for $40. Then on from there it was being home, install new bearings, shim, torque, install axles back in, torque, install c clamps, install diff retain lock pin, torque case, fill up with oil, install brakes, wheels etc. Performed the true track test which consists of 1 tire on dry asphalt, 1 tire on grass, and a hard acceleration. You should hear nor feel any banging or spinning, or binding. LOVE this truck now. Hope this helps. (The link below shows how it works. It seems like magic but it's not). ruclips.net/video/lZmsY2YvVsc/видео.html
It's pretty awesome, BUT you can tell the twin clutch rear end engages abruptly. This could cause traction problems in the snow. And over the long haul this is going to break something.
That's Amazing Flex!!! i didn't expect even close to that! if the cadillac gice cut-off bumper jobs and get some protection gears, it will cross rubicon trail like it is a modded landcruiser..... oh wait nobody will give up 24281inch rims and sports tires for their escalade. neh
I’m confused... did someone say an expedition is better than an Escalade? Ppl these days just don’t use there brains... there’s no way in hell I’d pick an expedition of an Escalade that’s just a no brain
My 2011 Escalade does the same thing, I don't off road with it but for rural Ontario you might end up off on a country road and it's nice to have the extra security.
Look at the front wheel at the 1:00 mark. That's exactly what it's doing there, except that it's not cutting power. It's applying the brake to the free wheel.
That’s with those 22 inch wheels , highway tires and the all wheel drive. Newer ones give you the option of actually putting it in 4 WD manually so it gives you more ability to choose. If you really want to do something a little more serious pop some 20 inch wheels and a more aggressive tire and you’d be surprise what it will do. People just love trashing GM suvs.
goddesseddog No. It depends on what brand that AWD comes from. Some AWD systems cannot vector torque, therefore they are useless. Higher end AWD systems may perform better, but will never exceed 4WD capabilities with front and rear lockers. AWD is specifically designed for onroad while 4WD is only for offroad use.
EGGINFOOLS it’s no longer using that computer engaged AWD system that generation two and three Escalade used. It’s back to using a fully user engaged 4WD system the first generation Escalade had.
It's not like it's being abused...who gives a fuck ..hes not doing burnouts..or anything..hes on pavement..doing a test of the vehicle..and the car companies dont sell these cars anyway ..they send them to all the different car reviewers to review and rate
The Escalade may be an SUV but just like many luxury vehicles, I wasn't designed to go offroad or handle much in the way of performance. That's the downside. If you own one and use it for transportation in places like LA, it's going cost you about $100k. It's going to generate $250+ minimum. That's the upside. No car is worth over $50k, that doesn't generate income or sell for a decent profit.
People who don't know how to treat G80 Locker made Bad Rep. NEVER do pedal to the metal for engage locker quickly(and why the hell do pedal to the metal in off road??????) of course G80 can be destroyed more easily then lockright or similar lockers But That is enough for cross any rocky way.
Gabriel Joseph I’ve owned a Escalade and Range Rover both 2015-2017. Range Rover is way better besides the fact I had some suspension issues in the first year. Still better than a Escalade although I do miss the reputation I would get from the Escalade.
by doing this wtf do you get out of it. It's meant for driving on highway it's not even meant for off-road it don't have enough ground clearance. like use your brain people hahaha
G80 have no sin. Drivers Treat them like normal lockers. and many of them have never experienced auto-locking lockers. in worst case, they don't know how to drive in off road. they just don't know. just don't do pedal to the metal. it is not a bomb. i'm using one and sometimes it do better job then manual lockers.
i dont know why you are hyping this video up... take it out "OFF ROAD" to do an "OFF ROAD TEST"... seriously, you think you're impressing people by driving an escalade in a freaking PARKINGLOT?!! lol... peoples driveways are steeper than that..lol...
Spike The Boss I can do that with a Toyota Prius. This not even off-roading. It's a paved parking lot and easy uphill dirt track. Check Toyota Land Cruiser or Jeep rock climbing and mud crawling then you will get to know what is off-roading.
wait did they just say offroad test? Only thing you see is the thing struggling on a small inclimbe. Just don't try to take such thing offroad, it isn't really made for that.
LOL the Best result in 2WD, well done Cadillac.
I'll give it credit. It just lugged a luxury hotel up that incline
It’s just a luxury chevy suburban
It's funny how everyone hating in the comments couldn't even afford a new Escalade. Most of y'all pushing an 06' with high mileage and the check engine light on 😂
Because nobody wants a GM product. Plus, if there are '06 cars out there with a check engine light on, must be a GM product.
It's funny how you think anyone with a brain who can afford an Escalade would actually buy an Escalade instead of MUCH better SUV's out there for the same money. It's literally the worst big SUV in the world.
Yea but it is bad ass !
It's funny how you assume that. Also, there's much better SUVs out there than the Escalade that are nicer inside and can do this test better
love when people say there are better x than this x. so many better and cheaper. but never ever list even one example from the dozens they claim to exist. escalades are nice but also priced for status as is the Mercedes g65. That locker took a painfully long time to engage.
choctaw111 It locks when the difference between the left and right wheel is 100rpm. It'll lock up almost instantly if you give it more gas.
I thought it did will compared to a lot of the SUVs and Crossovers this channel tests. On a lot of them when a tire is spinning in the air you can hear the brake slowly applying pressure to stop the spin and get it to climb.
Seems to be electronic traction control. I don’t think any modern SUVs actually use physical lockers anymore.
Its probably still a GM Gov-loc , AKA gov bomb.
Lol that's hilarious
A lot more suspension travel than I expected
G80 is a decent piece. Gm has used it forever and that should tell ya about the capability of their trucks for a very long time. It works really well in real life.
Why so much cadi hate, GM never took "off road" in to question when designing it. Give credit where credit is due

I enjoyed this video. Keep em Coming.
+keri “KJ” ellerbe will do! thanks for the comment! :)
It's pretty awesome, BUT you can tell the twin clutch rear end engages abruptly. This could cause traction problems in the snow. And over the long haul this is going to break something.
Very impressive for a heavyweight SUV
That's Amazing Flex!!! i didn't expect even close to that! if the cadillac gice cut-off bumper jobs and get some protection gears, it will cross rubicon trail like it is a modded landcruiser..... oh wait nobody will give up 24281inch rims and sports tires for their escalade. neh

Tom Anderson ford is cutting half of there vehicles from thee lineup because they can’t figure out how to build a car that people want
Tom Anderson ford is cutting half of there vehicles from thee lineup because they can’t figure out how to build a car that people want.
Jonah Loucks I admit their cars are junk, just like chevis, but the trucks are the shit!
Karl and Jeff can you stfu
I think it's a pretty good result for plowed in snow bank in Montreal.
My 2011 Escalade does the same thing, I don't off road with it but for rural Ontario you might end up off on a country road and it's nice to have the extra security.
The transfer case on the Escalade does wonders. Was it running on the standard Bridgestone Alenzas?
yep oem wheels if i remember.
Are these naturally rwd without the 4 wheel engaged ? Mine loses back traction in the snow when 4wd isnt engaged
Yes.
Wow, in what part of Moab is this gnarly trail located?
Lol Moab"ec" city ;)
CosmicDigital507 its at the back of the restaraunt
Aha yep.. nice and shiny asphalt that's what Americans call offroad
This test demonstrates lack of wheel contact, something that regularly occurs off road.
Leonchik 999 sorry we don't live in the middle of bumfuck nowhere like you. 'MERICA 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
shiny asphalt would lead to having no grip ,its usually a more coarse texture .
I want to see this in a tuff truck challenge. That's the real test.
Awesome stuff!
+PhantomDrawing thanks man!
I'm impressed
Rick Smooth With what? Apparently you are not referring to the video.
Eightosaurus Spelunk: Yes I am, why?
t struggles to do on tarmac what any decent SUV does on gravel with no issues.
I am too just wished the locker didn’t take so long to engage
2wd nailed it!!
That g80 did the job very well!
GM has really good tech that would cut power to the free wheel. I wonder why it is not on this vehicle.
+Raymond Johnson the locker can do the job!
CarQuestion oh ok I didn't realize.
probably because its a luxury vehicle.
Raymond Johnson it’s because it senses it’s a road I think
Look at the front wheel at the 1:00 mark. That's exactly what it's doing there, except that it's not cutting power. It's applying the brake to the free wheel.
I like the residue spilled where the tire spins
Thy to do the same thing , same parking lot, same moves when it's snow ❄️ thanks
How much thread should I shed before getting it up?
no one does luxury like Cadillac
Back in the 50s Car advertisment showed cars jumping and racing through dirt. In a car from today, you do that only once.
That g80 does wonders
Did I miss the AWD part?
That’s with those 22 inch wheels , highway tires and the all wheel drive. Newer ones give you the option of actually putting it in 4 WD manually so it gives you more ability to choose. Please do ford
expedition it has irs
doesn't make a difference in offroad or situations like this
You gotta have more momentum that means have your foot halfway down on the gas pedal
It made it every single time
so rwd is the best in this case; just shows that on paved roads there's really no need for awd
the only reason is because the thing has a locker. other vehicles have open differentials
so rwd + locker > awd. I bet it saves fuel and certainly tows better
goddesseddog No.
AWD affects driving style. It's nicer and safer to have, but not anywhere near a necessity.
ماشاء الله تبارك الله
يالله ارزقني بواحد مثله
Nice car 😊
I was going to laugh it he gave it too much power and ran into the garage door. It almost bottomed out I was about to cry.
Felicia Thomas OMGGGG that would be funny but also SAS for the Caddy
AWD with low range?
EGGINFOOLS it’s no longer using that computer engaged AWD system that generation two and three Escalade used. It’s back to using a fully user engaged 4WD system the first generation Escalade had.
99% wont ever leave asphalt we all know that but very good.
Most people just pimed their rides then take them to off-road 😂
It did pretty damn good
*I wouldn’t have been disappointed because cmon, who goes off-roading in a Luxury SUV? I’d be more concerned about scratching the paint doing that. 😂*
It's not a mall crawler,it's a warehouse crawler.
+lee hancock fully equipped warehouse :P
If Paris Hilton went on a boxing ring...
Cadillac Escalade está muy bien me gusta hasta pronto
Little delay but not bad.
They should have gave it A lifted option and a lock dif
Avis wants their rental back.
D Johnson they don't rent Cadillacs...
I feel bad for the guy who buys it being told it came strait from the factory to the dealer
It's not like it's being abused...who gives a fuck ..hes not doing burnouts..or anything..hes on pavement..doing a test of the vehicle..and the car companies dont sell these cars anyway ..they send them to all the different car reviewers to review and rate

Let’s be honest here, the most off-roading an Escalade will do is going down a gravel road
I love escalade tahoe expedition 😍
It's A luxurious car not an offroad so why do you expect it to do good on this test
...it’s a four wheel drive SUV. The leather, chrome and badges come afterwards. Why not expect it to do well doing SUV things if that’s what it is?
@@chefcjnobles1680 Because its made to be flashy
So good!
maybe it needs bigger taillights
C'est beau !
2WD surprised me
Why 2wd performed better
People who don't know how to treat G80 Locker made Bad Rep. NEVER do pedal to the metal for engage locker quickly(and why the hell do pedal to the metal in off road??????) of course G80 can be destroyed more easily then lockright or similar lockers But That is enough for cross any rocky way.
That's what a $100,000 Escalade do for you! If you plan to buy that luxurios box, I would rather prefer a Range Rover or an Explorer or an Expedition.
Gabriel Joseph lol
Gabriel Joseph I’ve owned a Escalade and Range Rover both 2015-2017. Range Rover is way better besides the fact I had some suspension issues in the first year. Still better than a Escalade although I do miss the reputation I would get from the Escalade.
That_bitch_ Vanessa Esclade last 4x as long too. These easily get to 285,000+ miles with no mechanical issues
LAND CRUISER
🤮Escalade is trash but why buy a ford or a Tata ? 💩💩💩
Chevs have an open diff. Dodge has a posi diff
😍it's so shiny😌
THEY CALL ME GOTZ I RAP !
by doing this wtf do you get out of it. It's meant for driving on highway it's not even meant for off-road it don't have enough ground clearance. like use your brain people hahaha
$100,000 SUV and GM is using the fucking G80.
GM puts profits above innovation and then wonders why sales tank.
Why does an Escalade even have low range lol
Just look at this bus
Off road test?
Buy a Jeep Liberty !
ruclips.net/video/I7AnmDrxzUs/видео.html like this patriot? ;)
Good city car.
Car question IES
Awsome
+The Matt channel glad you like it :)

OFFROAD?
tires are not good on this car
Not Bad , but Subaru Symerrical All Wheel Drive is better than All Vehicle
Idk about that anymore considering other companies like jeep seem to have a faster reacting one
Spy 99 yah not like a Subaru is meant for that the Escalade beats it in luxury the thing it’s made for
now do it at 80mph.
هاتوها عندنا جاف الحيود انجربها
👌👍!!
Looks like the POS G80!!! I have no idea why GM continues to use these time bombs!
G80 have no sin. Hell of a "off road test" now we know it can drive up a hill.
crazy
Who offroad an Escalade ??!
4wd
Très très beau SUV, mieux que le Q7 de chez "Audi" #CadillacEscalade
there should be no wheel spin period. the computer should recognize within milliseconds where power is needed
Hot!
😄😂 "Offroad Test"
a toyota prius can do that shit lol
in the bed of a 4x4 yes! :)
i dont know why you are hyping this video up... take it out "OFF ROAD" to do an "OFF ROAD TEST"... seriously, you think you're impressing people by driving an escalade in a freaking PARKINGLOT?!! lol... peoples driveways are steeper than that..lol...
Juan Carlos Yes to the people that buy them. Do you think you're impressing anyone with a prius on the freeway?
even a sedan can do that.
come and try it :)
Kamran Khan yeah man.. go try driving a sedan in a parking lot... i bet you that you cant! lol
Spike The Boss I can do that with a Toyota Prius. This not even off-roading. It's a paved parking lot and easy uphill dirt track. Check Toyota Land Cruiser or Jeep rock climbing and mud crawling then you will get to know what is off-roading.
Isaiah Barry lol at ground clearance. Ground clearance for paved road?
lol... peoples driveways are steeper than that.... i can do that with a prius with 4 flat tires.. haha
