Gary Busey is an actor who's notorious for his eccentric off-the-wall personality. The things that come out of this guy's mouth are something else. Some would even go as far as calling him 'crazy'. Regardless of how you see the man, there's no denying that Busey's high-energy, over-the-top demeanor has always been one of his most prominent traits.
He was once considered to be one of Hollywood's most promising leading men after his award-winning performance in 1978s The Buddy Holly Story, but after suffering a traumatic brain injury in a 1988 motorcycle crash, he was left with the inability to censor himself.
It's a pretty well-established fact that Gary Busey's life was forever changed after that nearly-fatal motorcycle accident, but that wasn't the only low point in his life. In many ways, it could be argued that that wreck actually gave the world the Gary Busey that we're all familiar with. But it also set off a chain reaction that eventually led to him going down the road to addiction and drama.

I actually met Gary Busey in person this is before the motorcycle accident we were at a movie premier and he was standing in the lobby smoking a big cigar and yes this was before restrictions on smoking indoors. as I approached him to ask him for an autograph I tripped and fell to the ground. with him not knowing that I was disabled he grabbed me with one hand and pick me up from the ground and he said oh I’m sorry buddy sorry about my big feet. And then he asked me if I was OK and I told him yes I was and thank you for the autograph. he was a super nice man. that is something that I will never forget.👍💯❤️

Coincidentally, at the time of his motorcycle accident there was a lobby for mandatory helmets while riding motorcycles. Busey was a very vocal advocate of "no helmets" and after the accident ended up being the poster boy for the helmet law as well as being one of their most verbal advocates!

I loved him in the Buddy Holly Story. He deserved that Oscar he was awesome and very convincing has Holly. After all he went through he's still a wonderful actor. Loved him in Lethal Weapon and Under Siege. And the uncle to Corey Haim in Silver Bullet. I wish him well hope to see him soon in a movie.

I love his character in the movie The Firm, Detective Eddie Lomax. He also did the voice for Crazy Santa Claus in a video game a few years back called Killing Floor 2. And who could forget the Rocket Chet Steadman in Rookie of the Year? Busey is the man. 😂

He appeared on the reality TV show in the UK Big Brother. He successfully won as the final housemate. My favourite movies are Buddy Holly Story and The Firm.
He has three projects in pre-production on IMDB. He seems to be keeping busy for someone his age.

Also hearing someone explain a motorcycle crash who clearly has never ridden a motorcycle is cringe. “Pumping the rear brake, went flying over the handlebar” uhhh that’s not what happens when you “pump the rear break.” Slamming the rear break will cause the rear tire to lock up inducing a rear slide, something pretty controllable. I’m assuming he smashed the front brake while trying to turn, which would indeed lock if the front causing the bikes rear end to want to flip itself on the front tire, acting as an articulating point for the momentum carried.

It was my understanding and I have not heard differently, he was not wearing a helmet that’s why he suffered that injury. You can’t fix stupid and he was the poster boy of it.

@@FactsVerse I loved The Buddy Holly Story, but I thought his role opposite Steven Segal positively genuis. Early on, he was in some westerns and displayed his acting abilities. He could have gone so much further in his acting career, but I believe the motorcycle wreck and drug use limited his potential.
