Disclaimer: some flowers may change color when mixed with wax or fragrances. I recommend using a lightly scented votive candle and Do Not add any fragrance to the clear gel wax.
Lavender buds and lilies could turn brown.
I have used rose petals in these designs and greenery such as eucalyptus leaves.
I purchased the Art Minds Clear gel wax at Michaels with a coupon. Thanks

Very nice! Candles turned out pretty, looks easy to make. Nice photography, Alicia!
Thanks so much 😊
Pretty! ♥️
Thankyou I hope you make some!😊
Cute!!!
Thanks 😊
Love it I’m going to make those
Thanks they’re really beautiful. And you can replace the votive after it’s burned down. They last for years.
Goooood👍🏻
Thanks 😊
Very beautiful
Thanks! I’ll be posting more videos on candle making soon.
what type of gel do you use, there was only music over it when you were melting the gel. Can it be done in a microwave also?
I used Art Minds Clear Gel Wax purchased at Michael’s hobby store. Sorry for the music. There are other brands on Amazon, but i haven’t tried any of those. You could use the microwave to melt the wax also, just start out with 10 second increments until you have a good idea, how hot your microwave is and how fast the wax melts.
Hi! If I dont light up the candle, there is a chance the flowers will get mouldy ? Thanks
If you’re using dried flowers then you won’t have a problem. Just make sure they are thoroughly dried. You can dry your flowers with silica gel, by the microwave or pressing them in a heavy book. You can also tie them with a string and hang them upside down. Please watch my other videos for more tips. These candles are so easy and fun to make. Enjoy!
Beautiful candles! I have a doubt about the botanicals catching fungus or mold in humid climates. What can be done to prevent this mold? Thanks! 😊
Great question. I do not have experience making them in a humid climate. But I have had mine for over two years and the only thing that I noticed was some white spots in the clear gel wax after they had been on the shelf a while. I just popped them in the microwave for about 30 seconds ( be sure to remove any foil or metal from the bottom of the votive) and that made the spots disappear. You could also put them in the oven on a very low setting to warm them up. I have not had any problems with the flowers catching on fire, but have noticed that some flowers will fade over time. I hope you make them and let me know how they turned out. Keep in mind that you can easily remove the wax from your container and reuse your glass jars again and again. XO
@@LornaD_CottageNecessities the oven idea sounds good! 😀 Shall try that out for sure and let you know! Thank you for replying!! 🥰 Have a lovely day! 🥰
Hi, these are beautiful! Are there any updates on your process?
Not at this time. Thanks
Hi would the flowers catch fire when the candle burns down ?
Hi Janette, that’s a great question. Since the flowers are well contained in the gel wax and separate from the votive, there should be little chance of that happening. Although, it’s a good practice to never leave a candle unattended or burning in a room that no one is in. I hope this helps.
@@LornaD_CottageNecessities thanks for your reply- loved watching this- looks very cosy and friendly- just what everyone should be like 💕
How sweet of you to say. Having my friend doing the filming seemed to really help. Her questions were very good. I hadn’t intended to use this video but I wanted to get this technique out for people to try. It’s so easy and turns out so pretty.
Lovely candles. But when I made one,my lovely pink dry flowers turned brown. Don't know where I went wrong. Any tips?
Hi Sunanda, I think it’s a matter of trial and error. Many of the delicate flowers will change color when mixed with fragrance and some waxes. I stopped using lavender buds for that very reason. Did you add fragrance? Some fragrances are worse than others and will even change the color of the wax. So I recommend using a lightly scented votive and do not use fragrance in the clear gel wax. Maybe pink rose petals will work better? All of the roses seemed to hold their color.
@@LornaD_CottageNecessities also dryed pressed flowers should work- sorry for jumping on your post 💕
Thanks for the tip.
Thaks for the tip on flowers. I ,ll be careful in future.
what is the gel you used on the exterior of the candle called
Hi and Thankyou for your inquiry. It’s called Gel Wax by ArtMinds. I got it at Michael’s Craft store, but believe you may be able to find it on Amazon.
@@LornaD_CottageNecessities thank you
P.s. not sure if I mentioned it but I get the votives that are fragranced I do not recommend adding fragrance to the clear gel wax as it might turn it yellow.
