Since the use of 'apps' started at the same time that some uncomfortable practices started (browser running, always connected, ever changing interface, crap in general and spying), I really miss the complete and crystallized experience of programs...
Apps came about with app stores (which don't host all kinds of programs but specifically applications for end users). It was the app stores that created an environment where you can easily both download random programs and get them updated easily. Easy updates bring more frequent changes and random programs bring more opportunities for abuse. In essence all of those evils came from improvements in ease of development and delivery. It's not about the naming, that is correlated but is not the cause.

He said "here's how you can 'GET' Microsoft Office entirely for free". Using the web version is NOT getting anything. The FREE Web applications remain on Microsoft's servers. He must have meant to say "Here is how you can 'USE' MS Office for free" would make more sense.

Better yet the videos stay on their server instead of having to maintain a huge hard drive to archive videos I find on the internet. The downside is that RUclips can cancel accounts or delete videos anytime they want and we no longer have access to creators content. Also they can change features anytime whether you like it or not. That is the idea of the internet, you get to access and use other's computers and software but you don't own it. The thing is when it comes to Office Application software I would rather depend on software I buy, own, install and configure on my own computer rather than depend on someone else's computer. And with really good open source alternatives, cost is no longer an issue.

If you don't know, a Microsoft 365 subscription is associated with a Microsoft account. If you don't have continuous internet access, I can guarantee that Microsoft Office will go into read-only mode because it can't contact Microsoft servers.

@@arjix8738 it's not 100% compatible, so it's not feasible in scenarios where you have to submit an actual word or excel file to somebody else. It is feasible if you only have to submit a PDF file.

That is Web version you should say that as well, i know most would know but not all. It has some less functions even mobile version of office has some functions that web don't so if one has a tablet can try that. Otherwise just download an alternative to office or get the key.
Bullsh...t It only works when you've got 365 pack purchased and installed on your PC (or any other software like OpenOffice) It is only like control panel for files. And as we can see on the top bar next to Settings icon you haven't got message to "Purchase Microsoft 365" so that tells me only you already have it installed that's why it could work on yours (you didn't even show if it does as you haven't tried to tap and start a new project).
My ms word for web is not from last week when i open the document there shows that (your PC doesn't have a compatible app that van open this link) but it was working from previous months.

Or do you need an internet connection, because those apps are running as slaves to some Microsoft server? And if you need a Microsoft account, then it seems as if your use of the apps is shared with Microsoft (is nothing private?). Do you need a Microsoft account? I would test the above, myself. But I am on an old computer with a Gateway2000 programmable keyboard (long before a Windows key existed).
