Every Spider Man Run - Reading Order & Starting Points
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 5 июн 2024
- Some characters take a while to resonate with readers and find the right writer that can make them great. Spider-Man is not one of these characters. From his very first appearance, he grew into one of the most recognizable superheroes in comics and the very symbol of Marvel. He has enjoyed many great runs by many great creative teams, and despite going through some dark periods - I'm looking at you, clone saga - has never left the spotlight. Theis is the first of four videos aimed at covering every run, phase and series related to the Wall-Crawler.
Essential reading order goes as follows:
Stan Lee/Steve Ditko's run
Stan Lee/John Romita's run
Gerry Conway/Gil Kane/Ross Andru's run
Roger Stern's run
The Alien Costume Saga
Kraven's Last Hunt
David Michelinie/Todd MacFarlane's run
David Michelinie/Erik Larsen's run
J. Michael Straczynski's run
Mark Miller's Marvel Knights run
Dan Slott's run
Top Ten ranks as follows:
10 - Mark Miller's Marvel Knights run
9 - Michelinie/MacFarlane's run
8 - Straczynski's run
7 - Superior Spider-Man series
6 - Slott's run
5 - Lee/Ditko's run
4 - Stern's run
3 - Lee/Romita's run
2 - Kraven's Last Hunt
1 - Conway/Kane/Andru's run

I was antecipating this since you started with the "reading order" guides. You're the best place in the Internet for guides about comics. Really appreciate you, thanks for your work.
Despite me not agreeing on a lot of the comments of the various series i have to congratulate you on the incredible amount of work and dedication these videos show.
Kudos to you man
Wein’s run was pretty good. His Green Goblin story was the highlight . I always had a soft spot for his Punisher story , as well. Mantlo is definitely one of the best . Defalco’s first run was really good , too. The Dematties Spectacular runs were some of my favorites. Aunt May should have STAYED dead after Amazing #400!
Gerry Conway’s work on Web Of And Spider-Man was really good, I thought. It had good character work and smaller stories. Tombstone was also a favorite, and he really excelled as a threat under Conway.
I agree 100%. Conway's work on Spider-Man with Sal Buscema and Alex Saviuk is my favourite Spider-Man era.
Ok, no great moments in Conway's Spectacular and Web titles? You can't be serious! Introduction of Tombstone, and massive support and exploration of supporting cast characters
Also, Dematteis spectacular makes top ten easy
Excellent!! A much needed video, thank you so much
Suggestion for a video: all superman ripoffs ranked
I’ve been toying with that for a while. Characters based on Superman and Batman… at least the most blatantly obvious
Can you do one for Iron Fist and Excalibur (The old 90’s series .)?
It’ll come. But it’ll take some time. Between upcoming videos on Spider-Man and Superman, I have a lot to cover.
I was waiting for this Like forever
What did you think of the return of Norman Osborn ? I thought that the stories were really good, Spectacular #250 is a favorite of mine. But he probably should have stayed dead .
At the time, I didn’t like it. Mostly due to hating the clone saga and the idea of bringing back dead characters. But when I look at how the character has been used in Thunderbolts and Dark Reign, I’m glad he’s around. They used to say everybody comes back except Bucky and Uncle Ben… then they brought back Bucky. 😂
@@comicbelief and now in USM uncle Ben is alive
I'm going to read the entire run on Amazing Spider-Man in the Epic Collections. I'll start with the original run by Stan Lee with Ditko and Romita sr, Gerry Conway, Len Wein, Roger Stern, Marv Wolfman, Danny O'neil, Dan Slott, J. Michael Straczynski, Nick Spencer, Tom DeFalco, Peter David, J.M, Dematteis, David Michelinie,
Spectacular Spider-Man by Bill Mantlo
Paul Jenkin
Spider-Man by Todd McFarlane
The Spider-Man tie-ins on Civil War, Siege, Dark Reign,
Amazing Spider-Man Brand New Day, Grim Hunt, Superior Spider-Man, Big Time, Goblin Nation, Avenging Spider-Man, Spider-Island, Scarlet Spider-Man by Christopher Yost, Clone Conspiracy, Red Goblin, Spider-Man Miles Morales,
Ben Reilly Scarlet Spider By Peter David,
And last but Unfortunately least, Amazing Spider-Man by Zeb Wells.
At least Miles Morales by Cody Ziglar is doing well.
Last time I attempted something like this was the Hulk from debut to the present day. Took me months, and the character doesn’t have a fraction of the number of Spider-Man comics. I wish you luck! 🍀
I expected that Dan Slott's run on Spider-Man would be hated by everyone
paul jenkins is spider man run is good?
It is. Not among the very best, but it’s solid with some very good stories. The interaction between Spider-Man and Green Goblin is played very well.
Supergirl run is coming right?
Very soon. Together with every Superman run.
wildstorm you never did the wild storm runs right?
No, I was actually working on it and I lost the file and been meaning to redo it ever since. It’ll come soon.
@@comicbeliefI searched your channel for hours without knowing it😅
@@tonyraju631 Sorry. It might take a while still, but it’s coming.
The shade in this video with the comments on your opinion of these runs makes this a must-watch for any Spider-Fan! You and I also seem to have similar tastes, friend!
And Spider-girl?

Spider-Man is great and everything but Daredevil is way more relatable!
Ah, so you must be a blind ninja too! Yeah it can be rough sometimes when your girlfriend gets murdered by the world's greatest assassin, trust me it's happened to me twice!
@@rickrivers2021 hahaha very droll! I mean Daredevil is really superhuman except for his radar sense & the other 4 senses, he is as strong & durable as a human can get, while having problems like the average person.
@@BenGrimm1961 in all seriousness, huge fan of both characters.
Spider-Man's stories are more relatable generally though. The character is built on the concept of "what if a superhero was trying to have a normal life, but superheroics kept getting in the way". His aspirations of caring for his loved ones, trying to eek out a living, and trying to find the right path to navigate his warring responsibilities make him easy to connect with
Daredevil by contrast is a much more brooding and noir-esque kind of tone. His personal life isn't meant to be relatable and his aspirations (protecting Hell's Kitchen, enforcing his private sense of justice by oscillating between lawyer and vigilante) are more built on the world around him than our own. While very much his own character, he also feels somewhat similar to Batman in many ways, a character that is not meant to be all that relatable at all
@@rickrivers2021 that's fine! I get it!
