Hey Anton! Sorry for my late response but it seems like I didn't get a couple of notifications.
During the flight it is important to store the insuline in your hand luggage because if you leave it in your big backpack it could be placed in a storage room where the temperatures drop too much. So always keep it close to you when you fly!
I had equipment for 6 months with me. I calculated the amount that I need with my diabetes consultant. Always calculated more then you need. Just to be safe :)
In total I stayed 1 year in Canada. I just came back last week. If something spontaneous like this happens you should be able to either buy the equipment abroad or you let your family send your supplies to you. Depending on your insurance. My family did send me some equipment and it worked out very fine.
A good and long conversation with your diabetes consultant is the best you can do before you start your journey :)
Are you already traveling or are you thinking about it?
In the next couple of weeks I will post more video blogs and also add english subtitles. They will contain more of my experiences that I made abroad. But to make it short: It was an amazing time and I didn't struggle very much with my diabetes :-)
Sorry for my late response and I hope I could still help you,
      Michael
