    Did you see Matsuno's last tweet? Apparently FFT started out more like Ogre Battle - he even showed off some early screenshots. It looked really cool!

      Is that why we went from battle parties of up to 12 (in TO) to just 4-6 in FFT?

    • @CoffeePotato
      @CoffeePotato  Месяц назад

      @@borjankosarac3645 Maybe? Or it was just easier to scale down with how many skills they could have. We saw 12 v 20 fights using the FFT system in Fell Seal, and things could get chaotic and lengthy pretty quick. Granted, in that case you're releasing extra allies from cages, stealing your enemy troops to being back as zombies for your side, and so on.

      @@borjankosarac3645 i don't think so tbh. they probably just wanted the smaller party or maybe it was a technical challenge

    Play FFT Advance, its amazing, one of the best story you will ever find. For a GBA game, its stuffed with so many things. Getting OP gear using specific skill and forcing enemies to throw those items to you is just crazy fun. Also Jean D' Arc in PSP, its a true hidden gem.

      Yup, covering FFTA in the next one, and JA is amazing.

      @@CoffeePotato Nice!! Looking forward for it, I regret not playing FFT A2, I hope that's next too, probably with right motivation I might pick it up this time for real 😁to think I once enjoyed simpler Tactics like Onimusha, spent so much time with that one.

    I think it's tough for people to hear because final fantasy tactics is a top three ff game but:
    Tactics ogre (reborn) > fft.

      @@professorpenne9962 Mechanics, gameplay and visuals are the only things an fft remake could improve upon. Maybe some voice acting or something. Tor has the story, the characters due to the story and all of the underlying mechanics and the strangeness of them run like a perfectly oiled machine. I felt for Ramza but Denam's gang had it worse and they were on a more epic quest to survive and take control of their continent. The feel of the passing of time even as Denam becomes more confident to the point of telling decorated enemy generals things like "You knights of Lodis have a rare gift of flight. A useful skill for cowards."
      Tor is just more ambitious. Fft has the iconic spell names and maybe a Cloud cameo.

      @professorpenne9962 Месяц назад +1

      @@deadvikingtrolls that's a completely fair and understandable thing. yeah there are a lot of gimmicks that can take away from the serious and heavy story of fft like riding chocobos. they really just threw cloud in because ff7 was so huge at the time. all I'm saying is both have dark stories.

    I agree with TO having a better story than FFT (and I also think TOR has a much better gameplay too)
    I first played FFT and loved it, and then when I played TOR and it not only had the same writing style but also so so so much optional stuff, choices that really matter and shape the story, I had my mind blown

      TOR feels more like fighting in war since your army in battles has much larger roster than just 5 units and it is challenging game. FFT can be made way too easy many ways. TOR and Triangle Strategy offer more intense battles than FFT . FFT is great though.

    • @CoffeePotato
      @CoffeePotato  Месяц назад +2

      @@gedge1027 They all went for different things. FFT was more like the custom medieval Justice League trying to fix the world, and it worked on that way. We saw that concept fleshed out even more with the solo explorer aspect of Vagrant Story later on. Aka "I wonder what it felt like to play as Delita or Cid...?"
      TOR felt like a war because it was entirely focused on the experience of the foot soldiers in it, and the crap they went through. As such, they had to be able to be respectable, but disposable, as did the named characters.
      Not...sure why Triangle came up there. It has some good ideas that need a sequel to really shine, that pie came out of the oven early. Hope it gets a sequel later that actually realizes that vision. Not exactly a good look when the demo has like 90% of the best scene design of the game, and most of the paths don't really do much.

    • @gedge1027
      @gedge1027 Месяц назад

      @@CoffeePotato Triangle Strategy had more intense battle than FFT . I enjoy more that units diminish and still got win than FFT where many points in game you just curb stomp enemies.

      @@gedge1027 They had some cool ones that stick out, and everyone's entitled to their opinions, but...the AI was dumb as a rock in TS. You could just walk away and they'd lose aggro. Tended to put a big damper on taking the cooler fights seriously when their brain would shut off, and they'd sit there dying from poison or arrows.
