Great video Love it you are all fantastic, Nice to see Renee Back "hope i spelled the name correctly!", she is sure an add value to the journey. Keep them coming please
My girlfriend likes to read James Patterson, and find them very enjoyable. As a marine mechanic for 40 years I find myself reading technical manuals. I enjoy your content. Contorting in all of the tight spaces in a boat I call it boat yoga that’s how I keep myself in shape. 😂
well. a benefit to you doing the work that's needed on the boat, means greater awareness, and if a malfunction occurs at a critical stage, you are much more prone to know what to do .....thank you for yet another great video. Nice to see your daughter again, and her brining you your new drone - now you can rest better.... Thanks again Mark (and Fiona and René)
Another great video I really like the way you show the jobs needed to keep the boat going and looking great. Looking forward to seeing you fit the Bimini and the solar panels 👍🏻🇬🇧😀
Terrific video, encompasses epic scenery, boat repairs, family interaction and clever internet fee reduction. Wonderful. I wondered how you fit everyone onboard -- as I recall, the 51 has just two staterooms. You had two couples, two kids and a single adult aboard. Seems like you should be short three bunks.
You mentioned the prices in Croatia. I live in Zadar and I go on my boat almost every weekend and once in the summer for 10-14 days when we go on holiday. Prices have risen sharply and you can definitely feel it. Nevertheless, I think it is the only way to stop mass tourism that is destroying our country and our nature. It is a good thing that not everyone can afford a holiday in Croatia. But if you go on a boat, you simply have no chance anywhere in Europe to experience what Croatia has to offer. Whether it is Italy, France, Spain, Portugal or Montenegro, there are no islands in front of you. You can only go from one place on the mainland to another by boat. And you are not as well protected from the waves if there are no islands in front of you. Greece might be an option, but for most people from Europe it is too far away. That is why Croatia is the only option left with over 1,200 islands. I call that exclusivity and exclusivity has its price! If I go to a campsite in Austria with my family, I also pay €80/night to park my RV. And for my 12m boat in Croatia, in a city with a limited number of berths, I pay around €60/night. In a marina, I pay between €87 and €104/night. And I don't think you can compare a berth in the sea with one on a campsite, can you? The problem is that over the last few decades, people have become accustomed to Croatia being a cheap holiday destination and now the time has come to break the habit.
Hey I absolutely hear you. Agree Greece is an alternative option and is very affordable. It does not need to be cheap and if the goal is to reduce overloading the infrastructure then I get it. The whole world is getting crazy expensive. Tough for young families and certainly not like it was when we were growing up. Beautiful country and wish we had seen more.
Another great episode, such beautiful coastlines. Congratulations Mark on keeping the engine room very clean and tidy, despite some doubts expressed by Renee when you first took delivery, well done you. Fair winds.😊
Well, seeing as everyone else is saying get a quarter inch mini socket like you get in bicycle tool kits, I won't say that. Instead I'll say battery operated portable mini fan with a tray of ice behind it. Living the dream, Cap'n. Living the dream.
Mark small tip you may or may not know, if you are in a tight spot trying to fight them jubilee clips with a flat head screw driver, (9 times out of 10 the dam thing slips out) get yourself a small ratchet, 99% of the time it is a 7mm socket that fits them, you can also use a short extension bar on it if needed, makes life a whole lot easier, less swearing, less skinned knuckles, less sweat.
I missed you this week. I didn't know if the video was late or I was just early :) I'm glad you got the Starlink to cancel and reset for the lower price. I can't wait for next week with the bimini and solar panels. Have fun and be safe. Nice dive with the kids, Mark and Love to Fiona.
Oh, I think there is also a D. D is that no one else is going to do as good of a job as you would do yourself. The practice of serving water with coffee in Dubrovnik has historical roots tied to European coffee culture. In many European countries, including Croatia, water is traditionally served with coffee to cleanse the palate, allowing patrons to fully appreciate the coffee's flavor. You don’t get water with tea because it doesn’t have the same cultural weight. I am so glad to see Renee! Let’s get that drone in the air!
Good water line fix. Open the valves slow to prevent air/ warter burst to your linrs and clamps. Also, when you find a good Marina, proper line for Cold water would be a BLUE line (Red for Hot). Or mark it for future refernece. Send Nordhavn the bill:)
Ive got that same water heater on my 2006 Beneteau 57 sailboat … its a champ … no problems … all boats have projects… you do learn about systems as they break/malfunction however a new Nordhavn should not have this type of plumbing issue… im glad you dont mind tackling these “teathing” issues and you’re getting along on your adventures …
I know how it feels to get older, not fun, especially when you think you are still 25. Nice to see father and daughter steering the boat together. Getting the idea Renee would like to be much longer onboard. Understand you missed the storm in Italy and made it safely into Tunesia, Looking forward to that video.
@@AwanuiNZ 4 hours no GPS ? Signal jamming ? Perhaps to confuse the migrant smugglers ? We are very curious to see what Tunesia is all about, so hope you will show that in great detail. We heard the craftmanship is pretty good there and with Turkey, Greece, Croatia, Italy being out of the equation, Tunesia may be an option.
G’day Mate from Australia, I love watching your videos. I have a suggestion when playing with the hose clamps. In your tool kit do you a small socket set with a screwdriver type extension? Rather than using a flat blade screwdriver the small socket will give you more control. Cheers Chad 🇹🇩
Hi Just for you information the hose clips should be opposing directions this is very important on through hull fittings . I do enjoy your videos all the best
@@AwanuiNZ Because of the design of the clamps, they develop a "pinching" just under the screw drive area. This pinching can lead to a leak at that point. By of setting the clamps 90%, you have less of a chance of a leak. Some hose bibbs aren't long enough to do this, but do the best you can. You are really learning your boat by fixing it yourself. Big learning curve but you have the mental acuity to succeed.
@@AwanuiNZwhen you tighten the clamp, where the screw part is, is where any excess is bunched up, so having one on the other side means that the seal is on either side . Look at the other pipe fittings on the system and pipework on the boat
I was hoping to go starlink myself, as I’m in a rural area, but since I’m within a city boundary, I can get rural pricing. Just can’t afford their new rates. I’d’ve thought pricing would go down as their service expanded. It exactly the opposite.
Your in for a shock further into the med, there are charges everywhere for anchorage and many places now you are not allowed to anchor and have to tie up to a buoy also fines for anchoring in seaweed in a lot of areas.
I have a question and possibly an alternative to tightening those hose clamps.I the place you tighten the hose clamp, does it have flats where you can use a socket set instead of a screwdriver ? If it dies find the correct size and use that instead of a screwdriver. Ok that’s it.
Zip…paid for by the local council…not even busking. Amazing thing was a 6 year old sone of one of the singers was with the, singing so the future looks good
You are using a screwdriver where it would have been better to use what I think would have been an 7 mm socket to tighten that jubilee hose clip saves all the problems of the screw driver slipping
Prince Andrew said he doesn't normally sweat either. I'm kind of guessing you don't have the range of stories he could tell that might cause you to break out like he did on camera. You were both pilots though. I have been in situations where my arms needed an extra joint and twin opposable thumbs.
A good example of Starlink price gouging….you’re not using any more data just because you’re traveling the world….why the price increase? It costs them no more no matter where you are in the world. And you should have options without having to trick the system.
@@Eblattnerdrc Think about it.....Demand for the world plan would be far less than any regional demand and the supply remains the same. The price should be far lower than a regional plan. Platitudes don't always apply.
@@motor2of7 yes but those that are interested in the world plan a willing to pay a much higher price as it is a great deal lower than what they were paying before. A cruise ship could have an annual bill of multiple millions for their data link.
@@Eblattnerdrc I was commenting on the supply and demand comment, which doesn't apply here.....what applies here is, as you point out, is a captured market, on which they are price gouging because they can. ......but as Awanui has shown, not everyone is willing to pay that price. The bottom line is that it costs Starlink absolutely nothing additional to provide this service worldwide. They charge an inflated price because some people will pay it, and in today's world, $400/mo for connectivity is absurd.
