Over the past 8 years, RUclips has given birth to an increasingly sophisticated entertainment culture that operates outside of the traditional television and film ecosystem. With humble roots in charismatic and creative people simply sharing their lives, thoughts, and humor to their webcams, RUclips entertainment has diversified and grown into tens of thousands of unique channels with millions of loyal fans and subscribers. With a new generation of viewers increasingly turning to RUclips instead of broadcast TV, a new industry is being built around personalities who have dissolved the barriers between on-screen talent and the audience, and who employ visual aesthetics that make the viewer feel as if they are a part of the creator's life. Truly, we are in a new era of entertainment, one being led by millions of young people who are equally happy to watch video on their laptop as they are on their TV.

I love it. I love how RUclips has become such a big thing, and honestly, it was my dream to be a famous Hollywood actor, but now it's shifted over to becoming "RUclips famous". It's just a much more personal experience with creators and consumers and I love that.
It amazes me how much this website has grown. Everything has become a lot more professional looking. I remember when skateboard videos and amvs were super popular. A lot has changed, and it will continue to evolve. Had you told me how big this website was going to get back in 2006, I wouldn't have believed you. Let's hope the next 7 years are even better.

It's astounding how much variety there is on RUclips.
This is the most lucid, concise, and accurate description of the RUclips Revolution ever witnessed.
What's most important, in my humble opinion, is the conversation about the difference between MTV and YT. To put more clearly that central point: MTV was a selection of what certain people wanted to see, which was nice. YT is full participation, in which involvement naturally creates a conversation, which then in turn fuels the content. In Marshall Mcluhan's words, the medium is the message.

Thank you RUclips for creating this platform of sharing for us. As a viewer and a content creator I find it fantastic to browse around and find really spectacular videos, yes there are random crazy videos.. But I choose to think that the former ads greater perspective and much more entertainment!
I love RUclips! It is really amazing how TV has become so obsolete as compared to when I was a teenager and we had 4 channels.

The library was invented thousands of years ago .
It took that long to reach RUclips , it's revolutionized humanity , now the tailor is sizing the clothes with his client , the comedian has all his past shows in succession , and the unknown is picked apart by people all over the World .
Let's not go backwards , we've just begun .
I remember a friend linking me a gig video on RUclips in it's very earliest days.
Now I watch it more than my TV. It's my most viewed site on my laptop.

THANK YOU. This video was a lot more accurate and respective of the craft than the entirety of "Becoming RUclips". Yes, I've stopped watching TV a long time ago. Netflix for series and RUclips for amazing entertainment achieved more in actually entertaining me and getting me hyped than TV ever did.
Now, I know, Netflix depends directly on TV, since the series are originally made for it, so I'm not saying "TV is worthless", but yes, if Google doesn't screw up, RUclips will be something beautiful.

I love RUclips way more then anything on tv, RUclips is more personal and community based, while tv is just production and consumption

I already gave up on TV a year ago, internet has everything!
I never watch television. I used to. I even have cable here only because it's free. I don't remember the last time I turned this TV on. I'm always here, on youtube.
I started film school in 2002. There was no such thing as youtube. In my Sr. year of high school I was making skatevideos and sharing them by putting them on VHS to sell at local shops. When I graduated in '06, even after only youtube being in existence for a year or so, it had changed the exposure and interest in the art of video huuuugely. Now it's so ubiquitous it's strange to remember just how hard it was to share your work and get feedback.
It is called "the youtube song" and it is on my channel!
I feel about three hundred times more comfortable on RUclips than trying to navigate my TV, which is disorderly and doesn't seem to work on my own time even when I've figured out how to use my DVR and uses a clunky remote and... nope. I'm too lazy for that. I stay on my MacBook.
YEAH! We youtubers have all the power!

And if after all of that you still don't like the content, you can create your own! You can produce what you want to see, and still find an audience for it; and, with time, who knows, maybe even earn some good money from it!
In the process you'll even find people who like your stuff and be able to directly interact with them.

RUclips has the power to change lives and leave people in complete awe or have them laughing there pants off... all depending on what the user is searching.... that's why youtube is big... it always has the stuff your looking for..

good to see something like RUclips that appreciates the people and listen to the people, something that for the first time in our technology history that is almost run and controlled by the people that watch and use RUclips with out the big guns (even though the try to) getting complete control over a system like this because if you tubers are not happy, obviously there would not be any RUclips.
RUclips is a real job. RUclipsrs have to work, the good RUclipsrs do so much work behind the scenes that you don't see to make their videos great. It may be one of the 'easier' jobs out there, but there are tons of "real" jobs easier than RUclips...
V source is one of the best out there. Always interesting stuff

The part in which they discussed not turning on the tv. Besides DVDs which I borrow from my library, I have not turned on my TV very much. You Tube is my new TV, I get to see all kinds of things that interest me. The ability to find what I want with out the bloat of say QVC, more than one ESPN, four religious networks, spainish language channels, and all the old westerns, cable is become obsolete. I havent't had cable for over 8 years now, and watch mainly PBS over the air. Though I work nights

It is interesting that they have a clip of Good Eats when Molly is talking about "traditional broadcasting" Back in '99, Brown and a coupe other guys shot the pilot in one of their kitchens; The show was not filmed in a professional studio until it's 7th season. Also it has a very personal aesthetic. It has an almost youtube-like aesthetic, although it predates youtube significantly. Way ahead of it's time, I say.
