- The Royal Australian Air Force has had a proud tradition of Hornet flying since 1984. Now operating both F/A-18A+ and F/A-18F variants, the land down under is most definitely Hornet country.
Big shout out to the RAAF's mates in the USN, who also celebrate Fast Jet flying with a history of Strike Fighter/Hornet Ball videos.
This video is from the inaugural Australian Hornet Ball which was held in Sydney, 2014. It gives an extremely brief insight into fighter flying in Australia.

I've always wanted to become a pilot since I was 2 when my dad told me what a plane was. When I was 9 I wanted to fly fast jets. Now I'm 17 and I am flying through cadets and I have passed most of the tests to become a fighter pilot in the RAAF. To help me through my studies, this video is a way of motivating me.

We live just north of the RAAF Base in Townsville and see these guys fly over almost on a daily basis, great stuff.

@@jimbobby-lee1936 Hornet trainees do some of there final flight exams and testing out of Townsville. So certain parts of the year yes they do fly over every day
I used to live in Townsville and every day fighters will fly past us can’t remember what jet they were because I was young.

And the difference is, I'M NOT PRETENDING TO BE A RAAF PILOT. Impersonating military personnel is illegal and generally unethical. This person needs to be stopped before they provide misleading information for their sake and others'. To call me a "troll" makes you quite hypocritical.

I have always wanted to be a RAAF Fighter Pilot, i already have 6 hours of flying experience in a cessna 172 and know everything about flying. My goal is to finish my BE Hons in Mechanical Engineering and then move to Australia where i will live for sometime and then become a citizen and then join the Airforce and hopefully can become a fighter pilot and have the best job in the world :)
Don't get many more hours. The RAAF won't except pilots with experience beyond ab initio training. They want to teach you their way and not waste time on you unlearning what you were taught.
Thanks for taking me out on them mighty wings on board with you, Fulfilled my long time dream to fly in the R.A.A.F.Felt like I was absolutely there.only thing better would be doing it with a V.R headset or being in your seat.But I'll take it.Brilliant.

7 years ago I watched this hoping to join the RAAF as a pilot. Now i'm going to East Sale to do my Aviation Screening Program, couldn't be happier.

No they don't. They have fully movable leading eges controlled by fly by wire. The super hornet has a saw tooth leading edge too.

I've always loved aviation as a kid, and always wanted to be a pilot for the RAAF, but sadly I'm pretty sure my colour blindness will restrict me. So I'm hoping I can either be an Air Combat Officer on the Super Hornet platform or an Airborne Electronics Analyst onboard the P8 Poseidon.
