    I love the story. Your POV and your “why” can really determine your goal. 🎉

    Here are my tips for the CPA exam:
    1) Use Roger CPA and stay away from Becker. Roger teaches you to understand the material whereas Becker teaches to memorize. I used Becker for my first exam and didn’t pass. Then I switched to Roger and never failed to pass another exam.
    2) Don’t get discouraged if you do very poorly on your first practice exam attempt. You very likely will do poorly. Just make sure you understand the concepts and explanations and then try again.
    3) Get a white board and use it to write out questions and answers. This will help you visualize everything.
    4) Days or weeks before your exam, drive to the testing location and find the exam room. That way you will know where to go on exam day and won’t be stressing to look for where you need to go. Exam day could be stressful enough. Why add to that by trying to find your exam room?
    5) Make sure to block out your entire day for the exam. Don’t schedule anything before or after it. That way, your focus is only on the exam and not what else you have going.

    Can you do a video talking about the leap you took preparing for the exam in the early stages of your journey. I am about to take the jump myself and it’s very intimidating.

      Yeah! I’ll make a video talking about starting the exam and how to make the mental jump! Thanks for the idea :)

    Great vid Joey. What was your why for rhe CPA exam? Tbh, I feel like brick layer 1 in regards to accounting, let alone the cpa exam...

    • @JoeyCPA
      @JoeyCPA  5 месяцев назад +1

      Mine was just that I wanted to prove to myself that I could do it. Accomplishing hard things feels great and that was why I was so determined. I also started to enjoy the studying a little bit. I love learning and working towards a goal feels good. I'm not saying i loved it and it was easy but there was a bit of satisfaction in all the hard work.
      Even if your why is as simple as that its going to help you through the difficult times. Good luck!

      @@JoeyCPA Wow my reasons are similar! I also want to garner respect, but overall my main 2 reasons in pursuing the CPA exam are I want to learn and reach my potential. Pursuing the exam forced me to take more units to learn more accounting. For example, had I not pursued the exam, I would've never cared to take a tax class and nor learn about how to understand a 1040 on my own. Also, I don't want to regret not having tried to pursue the exam and be the best I can be. I told my boss' boss this and he thought I was crazy to not do it for money, but if I pursue it mainly or only for money, I'll lose motivation quicker. Thanks for the well wishes! I hope I can be a CPA like you one day.

    Im an accounting student. Have any of your employers ever asked you how long it took to complete your accounting degree?

    • @JoeyCPA
      @JoeyCPA  5 месяцев назад

      Nope! As long as you get it done it won't really be on anyone's mind to ask. They don't care.

    Hey I am an ACCA member. Planning to take cpa course.
    Could you please suggest me any online course for this! Preparing myself mentally , need a lot of suggestion. Don’t want to go wrong with the materials I choose for this.
    Thanks in advance.

    • @JoeyCPA
      @JoeyCPA  3 месяца назад +1

      Hey! It depends on a couple things, most importantly your budget. Becker is usually the go to name brand but they are expensive. Some less expensive but still effective courses are Universal CPA review and ninja CPA review. And then there are a number of courses like Uworld and Gleim which are also pretty expensive and established.
      At the end of the day they are all pretty similar so the course won't make or break it. It will come down to how dedicated you are. So don't stress too much about which one you pick. Good luck!
