      Thanks! Yeah, I never saw anyone really compare numbers before, so I decided to do some digging of my own.

    I've worked with Source Point Press a few times so far as an artist. Can say they are pleasant to work with and be around at conventions.

      @@indiecomicempire I did a short comic called Void Cat for the Dandy Presents Penny Dreadfuls anthology, and I did an illustration for Butts in Seats by Dirk Manning. I've known Dirk for about 12 years now.

    Can you do a monthly sales report?...that would be interesting to see what the sales are every month for the collecting community

      I wish I could, but the website I get the data from is super delayed, like year behind. If I could see all the sales data from every month, I'd for sure be doing more videos relating to sales numbers.

    Source Point Press is currently not accepting submissions (October 2023).

      Thank you. I think last I talked to them they said they prefer talking to creators in person at conventions, and will review pitches and portfolios with you in the flesh.

      @@indiecomicempire That's good to know.
      Since my publisher, who happens to be affiliated with Source Point Press, suggested I submit my project to them, I did just that. Unfortunately, I never received a response. Dark Horse, on the other hand, did reach out to me. This experience led me to believe that Source Point Press might not be actively accepting submissions through their website. Given that my project is a crime drama thriller, I'm now considering options like Hard Case Crime or Sumerian.

    How true is it that a publisher like Image only takes on a creator with a track record?

    • @indiecomicempire
      @indiecomicempire  Год назад +5

      I'd say that statement is pretty true. If you look at all the comics Image, Boom!, or Dark Horse release in a given year, I'd say 60-70% of them are from well-established creators - not just professionals, but top-selling & known names in the indie space and/or with a long track record with the big 2. Then another 30% are from creators with at least a handful of published creator-owned comics from other indie publishers, maybe wrote some licensed material or both. Then a tiny sliver, probably 5% or less, are from relatively unknown creators, and even those "unknowns" usually still have a resume of self-published work, or have something else that gives them credibility - like an audience in some other medium, like an actor or novelist.
