Just an amazing run. The slug b is easily the worst ship in the game. I have 360+ hours on the game and I haven't even beaten it with the Slug b on normal yet.
I know. I see tier lists and stuff people do on the ships and they never seem to understand exactly how bad this ship is. It has everything wrong with it. It's missing crucial systems, it's boarding is dependent on slugs and bombs (that can miss). It has extremely poor defense and looks like a bloody turd.
@@chrisb5005 I actually did beat the game on hard with the Slug B after making that comment. Just got one of those insanely lucky runs where everything went right. But yeah, the ship basically exists to be a challenge. That's all. Playing with that ship is like playing on a higher difficulty level.
Yup! And in previous attempts, I had gotten Flaks (even 2 Burst laser 2's and 2 Flak I's once!), but could never get all the systems online before I got REKT by some OP enemy. Fitting that my win came with 3 Flak I's to finish the boss, hah!
Hmm, I've never created a montage video, and I'm not sure that I have the tools/expertise to do one. There would definitely be a plethora of footage available from these runs, though!
Who'd you have to sacrifice to get TEN consecutive uncloaked dodges from 1:27:05 to 1:27:17?! First the missles, then the volley attack, I've never seen anything like it! GG my friend
Lol, the sacrifice was 7+ hours of failed runs previous to this run. So...I'd estimate about 20 slugs and 10+ various other crew members of various races. ALL for that crazy set of dodges, which you're right, was ridiculous!
I've been trying all day to win with this ship (No Pause Hard) all day and I always meet a slow painful death by sector 5. I can't believe all the luck and skill in this video... If i need that much luck and skill it's gonna take a lot more tries and practice.
Slug B is super hard and one of my least favorite ships in the game. I still need luck to make it happen, and no amount of skill can beat some bad RNG situations!
"Doge" was the title for an elected lord in certain Italian and near Italian city states during medieval times and Renaissance, including Venice. Every time you pronounce "dodge" like "doge" or "doges" it reminds me of that. I'm not bothered but last night I was kind of out of my mind so I guess I just decided to say something since I've watched a lot of your videos recently and you do say "doges" quite a bit.

Just that rand, you ought to know, if you are playing hard mode, then game studies your set of weapons and augments and sys, etc, to try to find a loopole. They'll send ships with missles and see how much damage and rounds of weapons you fire before deating them (or ran away). If you suffer a considerably huge damage (eg, if your weapon and sys set up do badly against boarding and missles, be prepared to face lots of them), chances are they are going to screw you with more of that. Other factors including may long does each game lasts before a rage restart is made, or if you are consistently playing with the same ship over and over, and if you are choosing the same type of weapon/crew/sys combo. That being said, FTL also balance (using RNGs) your strength over weakness, it's still kinda fair in a sense, that they offer you the weapon pre-igniter at the last min, upon seeing you lost your 4 mantis boarding crew. Of course, this kind of balance has to be earned by being a good player. A good player actively explores and seeks out each sector carefully rather than rushing for final boss, and knows what kind of set up they are lacking. Bottom line: FTL enjoys screwing ppl at hard mode, but the developers also want players to try different tactics and ships. So by changing your ship or even event choices, you may earn favor from the game.
I'm pretty sure you're giving too much credit to the game. I have been told by people who have studied the game code that enemies will target certain systems when certain factors are met (like clone bay if you're crew are dead), but I'm pretty sure the enemies and encounters are random. I think we'd need to talk to somebody who's studied the code to confirm if more missile ships attack if you're lacking missile defense, etc....I'm pretty sure that's false.

% or 1 in 6,526 if his dodge chance was 45%

You kept power juggling during phase 1 of the flagship… just take the unused flaks offline and fully power cloak, hack, clone, engines, etc.
Plus low health rock waiting to teleport, kill him with asphyxiation, let him respawn while you wait
