    Great video. Very much helped me install my Vantrue E2 (front and rear dashcam). I would not have had the courage to pop off the covers and remove the weatherstripping without this video. But it was pretty easy to do and I am happy I did. One other thing I would add is that, when in the fuse box, and determining what fuse is ACC and what is not, and determining where a ground screw/bolt is, it is easier if you have a multimeter and use your multimeter to figure out which fuses are 'always on' and which 'ground' works. Thanks again for a great video.

      Hi John. Thank you so much for watching and sharing. I believe you emailed us as well and I just replied (busy weekend). Applause to you for the DIY. We do these videos just for that reason, to empower those that normally wouldn't, to actually do. Gain the experience and save the money. 🙂. Agree 100% on the multimeter. That is your best friend when it comes to automotive wiring. We're glad to have been a part of your journey. We actually just installed (and created an episode on it last week) for a Vantrue cam. They're great! We hope you stay safe out there and never need the footage from your camera and continue to be a part of our journey. Cheers!

    Never had dash cams before but I bought the exact same car a couple weeks ago and figured I should have them as a precaution. Got everything you suggested and it all works flawlessly, down to the scotch heavy duty fasteners. Thank you for making this way easier than it would’ve been!

      Hi Ryan. Thank you very much for watching and sharing your journey and the kind words with us. That's great that everything worked flawlessly for you. We're still very happy with ours. We did discover however that the heavy duty fasteners didn't stay on that plastic in the heat. Something about that plastic that nothing adheres to it long term. We resolved that by taking the panel off and putting 2 tiny screws threw the fastener and into the panel. You can't even see them and the panel is easy enough to replace if we feel we need to do something differently down the road. Safe travels to you out there and we hope you stick along on our journey as we share more mods to our Santa Fe. Cheers!

      Thank you for watching and sharing the feedback. We hope the rest of the video was helpful to you. Leaving that info out was by design. The fuses we chose may be different than what others want to use. I also felt from a liability protection (I shared in the comments, that if you're interested in knowing what fuses we tapped into, you can email us, which others have done), it's best that I leave that portion as general. Always a method to the madness as I like to say and we recognize that we're unable to meet everyone's needs all the time . We appreciate the support and we hope you stay safe out there!

      @SpiritedWrenchers  Год назад +1

      Hi frangkee. Thanks for watching and asking. I don't recall which one I used but I'm sure I can find out. It can be added into any constant hot fuse. If you have a voltmeter, you can test that from the top of the fuses. If it has power without the ignition being on, that fuse will work just fine. We just avoid tapping into any fuses that are safety related. Hope that helps.

      Hi William. Thanks for watching and asking. We appreciate it. If you have a volt meter you can easily find which fuses to tap. You'll need one that has constant power and one that only has power with ignition. There are more than just 1 wire for those that will work but I avoid any that are part of the safety features like an airbag fuse. Hope that helps and congrats on your 23 Tuscon. That's awesome

    Excellent video. Got the cam installed, but what fuses are people taping into to for the battery and acc hardwires? I'm unable to get the tap on the correct way at the acc fuse bottom row location as it hits into the wire connector. The fuse tap has to point downwards because the the hot side of the fuse is on the right when looking at the fuse box. What have people been tapping into for the battery and ACC lead wires?

    • @fcbeaumont
      @fcbeaumont Год назад +1

      It looks like your fuse tap is pointing upwards in the video. My Santa Fe power is on the left side of the fuse so my fuse tap needs to point down to properly protect the circuit. This makes the entire bottom row off limits due to the 3 connectors sticking out below the fuses., including the ACC fuse. I struggled to find options. I ended up with child lock for constant and rear AC for accessory.

    • @SpiritedWrenchers
      @SpiritedWrenchers  Месяц назад

      Hi Dana. Thank you for watching and asking. We tend to choose fuses that are accessory related for the most part. We stay away from any safety related features or critical device fuses in the event there is a failure, it doesn't stop the car from operating. Ideally you can use a voltage meter to test the fuse when the car is running and turned off to identify which one has the power at the right times. We do not run ours 24/7 so I want something that turns off with the key, i.e. radio, windows, accessories. Hope that helps. Stay safe out there.

      Hi. Thank you for watching and asking. We appreciate it. I slipped the wire just into the A pillar and it held it there on it's own when it's in place. I always avoid messing with safety equipment in any way to ensure nothing is compromised. Hope that helps.

    • @douglasdever6134
      @douglasdever6134 Год назад +3

      It sure didn't help! If worried about running wires UNDER an airbag, then do you have any idea what running a wire over an air bag can do when it inflates? It can cut it the air bag releasing air pressure inside before it does it's job. And if afraid, pull a fuse, but really, just moving a bag in a pillar out a a half inch DOES NOTHING TO HURT THE BAG OR INFLATE IT.

That plastic panel is made up of some out of this world plastic because nothing we tried stuck any longer than a couple of days. Because the plastic piece comes out and would be relative easy to replace, I used 2 very small screws and screwed them into the industrial hook and loop piece on the plastic panel. Because the hooks are larger on these, the small screws don't interfere with their functionality and it holds up the radar just fine. Hope that helps. The tool I used was something that I had left over from who knows what many years ago and I just kept it in my toolbox thinking I may need it again at some point and it's turned into a very helpful little item with wiring and audio installs. I tried to find something similar on Amazon or ebay and just couldn't. You could use thicker soldering wire or a very long zip tie with similar results. You just need it to be flexible enough to bend. Wish I could provide something more helpful for you. Cheers!

    Great video super helpful! Just one question about the rear cam…
    When it’s raining or snowing do you find that upper placement is always dirty and blocking the image as the wiper does not reach that far up? Or is the image still ok when dirty?

      Hi Rob, Thank you very much for watching and sharing the kind words. We appreciate it. It's a good question, and truthfully, it will likely keep it from being 100% clear because the glass is dirty, but it shouldn't eliminate the ability to see if something happens worth recording. Hope that helps. Stay safe out there!

    Great video, going to tackle this on our 22 Santa Fe Calli. Question about weatherstripping. Rear window seemed to be glued, other areas you didn't show how to remove or reinstall. Are there pins/plugs holding it in place, or friction fit? If I end up with gaps my OCD wife will shoot me for allowing new wind noise. Thanks much.

      Hi Philsmall, thanks for watching, sharing the kind words and asking. We really appreciate it. Hope you love your Calli as much as we do ours. I can understand about the OCD wife. LOL. Dana is the same way and I can't lie, I am too when it comes to these things. Details matter. There is plenty of glue within the weather seal. Once you push it back on, you'll be just fine. As a matter of fact, you want to be careful not to get any of it on your headliner as it will be hell to get it out. We've not had any issues with ours since the installation. Hope that helps and good luck on your install!

      I'm not sure if this will answer your question, but the wiring kit uses the existing fuse and requires an additional fuse to function. We purchased the kit and additional fuses to power it all. Hope this helps; take care and stay safe!

      Hi DingoManKam. Thank you for watching and asking. We appreciate it. We're not familiar with that model but everything we did is pretty common on all makes/models. Even the wiring and these dashcams can work in any thing. Hope that helps. Good luck and stay safe out there.

    those cars have built in cameras in the rear, they should just let you pop in a SD card and start recording.

    Thank you very much for the informative video. Installed quickly and neatly. Installing electrical accessories may interfere with existing high-performance equipment in the vehicle. I am thinking of cameras and radar equipment for lane keeping and other functions. To what extent does the Viofo dashcam you installed adversely affect this equipment? My car dealer warns of possible interferences. Thank you in advance for your reply and best regards from the Netherlands.

      Hi Willem. Thanks for watching and sharing the kind words all the way from the Netherlands. That's so cool. You pose a great question. Dealers always warn of adding things to vehicles for a number of reasons but I'm happy to say that there is no reason a dash cam should interfere with normal operation and performace unless it's wired in a way where it does. These are simply cameras with a shock sensor in them and powered through components that are non-related to safety or high performance. Hope that helps and we hope you stick around for more episodes. Cheers!

      Thank you for your quick response. I was particularly concerned about the interference that could be caused by the Dash Cam Hardwire Kit. I'm glad to hear you didn't have any problems with that. Good luck with your videos.

    Holy, managing wiring is such a pain. You have to hurt the car so much. I thought that would be a bit simpler.
    I bought a two-channel dash and thinking to return it and exchange for a single channel. (less effort).

    • @SpiritedWrenchers
      @SpiritedWrenchers  2 года назад

      Hi Caio Primo, I couldn't agree with you more, wiring is definitely a pain regardless if it's 1 wire or 100. LOL. This one was incredibly easy though and didn't hurt the cars interior at all. Just have to take your time to ensure nothing gets broken and it's really easy job. Nevertheless, we wish you success if you decide to keep the 2 channel or going with a single channel. Cheers

    Is warranty for car valid after such install?

    • @SpiritedWrenchers
      @SpiritedWrenchers  Год назад

      Hi. Thank you for watching and asking. To be honest, we're unsure on how the dealers see these modifications for warranty. I would imagine that any modification that you do to a car, that could ultimately cause a problem, the dealer could have a reason to blame the problem on that particular modification whether it caused it or not.

    Why didn't you just attach the camera directly to windshield? You could have achieved a better field of view.

    • @SpiritedWrenchers
      @SpiritedWrenchers  Год назад

      Hi Omer. Thanks for watching and asking. We really appreciate it. This was actually a choice of Dana's because of how far down the unit would have gone on the windshield. She felt it would obstruct her field of view. Certainly a matter of choice for everyone installing a dashcam. It still has a great field of view thankfully. Cheers!
