The last message i can see below is that you were in discussions with CBS, but that was two years ago, so I am assuming you were forced to abandon the app due to the restrictions. This is a faithful software replication of a Tricorder as seen in many Star Trek movies. It does not measure anything, rather simulates what was seen in the movies.
Unfortunately the copyright holder of Star Trek - CBS, has asked us to remove the Apps from both the iTunes and Google stores. Obviously it has been too accurate. We are currently trying to resolve this problem with CBS.
I don't know why some technogeek hasn't made a fully-functional Tricorder-type app. There are all sorts of useful single-function apps available. No, doubt someone will make a truly useful app eventually, perhaps in conjunction with a peripheral device (such as the FLIR device for phones).
I know of two right off the bat. One no longer available (but you can find the APK) and another one on the Play store. Both use internal sensors for a plethora of readings, like electromagnetic readings, sound, temperature, atmospheric pressure etc.
The report option only sends an error report to the Android Market. However the developer will never get this message. Please go to the homepage of SchoSoft and open a bug report.
when i start this up on my xperia play, the scanning sound works for .25 seconds then cuts out, all other sounds work except the scanning sound (the scanning sound initially works for the first launch but fails to work for every other launch of the app after that) anyone else having this issue??
Everytime I open that part and when I see the green radar screen, and click on the transmission button again, it crashes on me everytime. It pops up a message and says THE Application de.schosoft.Tricorder (process de.schosoft. Tricorder) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. I have two option, Force close Or Report, and I keep repporting it but never hear anything from them at all. I got this from the android market. Model is LG Optimus V Midel Number is VM670. Hope you can help, thanks.

Have you seen the arducorder? It's not an app, but it's pretty darn close to what a "real" tricorder can do.

This is a great app M, but I can't get it to expand to full sceen like yours. Am using EVO 3D. Any ideas? Thanks.

Unfortunately not - the CBS lawyers forbid us to make TR-580 available!
