I poached some salmon in white wine not long ago, and my realization was that... Yes, I actually don't like the fishy sea taste which is why I like it better poached in wine.
dude got a show when all he do is assembling Lawnmower while rambling on related tangent. somehow BBC ordered a second season of it. If he doesn't quit BBC along with the trio, we might got a third season.

Sorry, I’m Italian, ranting about food is our thing 😅 Cream with fish? No, thank you: I want to taste the fish. Cream will smother the flavour, both fish and wine. Also…. Please, fish goes with garlic 😢
If you had taken bets before this started if I thought Lucy would like muscles you would've won quite a bit of money off me. Cheers for the vid, really enjoyed these vids.
What we really need is an alcohol free bottle of Gin with the same taste but without the £11.50 exise duty on every bottle of Spirits . So why does Gordons Zero cost the same as full strength alcohol version. Profiteering or what ?
If cooked the same amount of time, likely the gin sauce still had some alcohol in it, hence the taste. The gin may take longer to reduce than the wine.
I'm really not a fan of food where you have to faff about with it on the plate just to get it in your mouth. Fancy food but hilarious and entertaining video.
Mate, why don't you use your amazing gin with recipes that, dunno, actually feature gin? Cheesecakes, tarts, drizzle cakes, puddings, panacotas, even roasted plums. But you know, SWEET STUFF in general.
A. Because this is something totally new and interesting therefore great content. B. It's a Gin with a lot more savoury botanicals than a standard gin used in sweet cooking, likely would turn out awful unlike in these savoury dishes.
you bought fresh mussels, some might have died while they were stored or transported. Therefore, recheck the mussels and discard any dead mussels. mussels you suspect are dead or off, as spoilt seafood can be deadly.
Whoever is doing the editing on the last three "Drive Tribe" type video's has the music way too loud and the voice too low. Please look into this, it's quite annoying.
The question you should ask yourself when buying a sea dish: Do you want it to taste like the sea, or like a cow?
Someone will make a dish out of sea cows for people who don't want to answer that question.
In general, if something can taste like a cow, it generally should.
I poached some salmon in white wine not long ago, and my realization was that... Yes, I actually don't like the fishy sea taste which is why I like it better poached in wine.
CHEESE
I like fish.
I still can’t believe this place is only 20 miles away and I still haven’t been for a pint 😮
I enjoy James way more on this show than I ever did on TopGear.
He's an entertainer in his own right.
Both May and Hammond are more pleasant when they're not attempting to out-oaf Clarkson.
True, he was my least favourite when I was younger but since he started doing the food tribe stuff he quickly became my favourite top gear member
BS
"It's our house wine at home." Brilliant.

I wouldn't mind seeing a seafood paella with gin - it should bring out the different fish flavours and balance the rice / saffron.
3:48 Bro I never thought I'd hear James say this 💀 I had to google what they're talking about, apparently that's what they call meatballs
Bring back food of the 70s
We never got Asian inspired spicy food of the 90’s either ☹️
larks' tongue in aspic like Mum used to make
Did they run out of recipes from the 1970s?
@@TheNotoriousJ0B Not really. They could probably flood the cowling with those recipes. There are plenty of them.
@@TheNotoriousJ0B What recipes, he was making crisp sarnies, for Christ's sake :D :D :D
I baught Asian Parsnip and it tastes..... confusing at the start. But half way in (about 1 weeks later,) it tastes amazing
Navy strength or original ?
I could watch James May sit in silence and still find him entertaining

So would you say it was mar-gin-ally better? 😅
I don't think the crew was gin-uinely pleased
These dishes need a gin-tlemen's touch.
Great hair, James! :)
I'm surprised Lucy likes mussels
Same
Liking the name 👍
What are her staple foods, I wonder. She has quite a long dislike list.
She and Hammond eat a total of four foods. That was surprising.
Mussels (and shellfish in general) are something a lot of people detest. Lucy, who seems to detest most edibles, likes them. Go figure.
James, you should have called it "Moules Maginot". Best served with pommes Siegfried!
I substituted red wine with James Gin when making a creamy mushroom sauce to top roasted asparagus.
10/10 would highly recommend.

It seems nobody was really with the gin mussels. Nice to see Lucy again.
Ah Lucy, we've missed you!
Mussels in a very dry cider cream sauce with plenty of garlic and shallots. Thyme instead of parsley.
I've always lived by the sea, yet never had a muscle.
They did sound lovely pouring into the plate :)
Looking forward to our stay at the Royal next Sunday. 🎉😊

After that dig at Ryan Reynolds I need a James v Ryan face off of some kind. They've met and I'm sure Ryan would be up for it.
Ah-gree. In Wrexham
And bring his Aviation gin over
The episodes with Lucy are the most entertaining
"Like ryan reynolds gin" Shot fired over the bow!
Accepted and returned
James: "Ryan Reynolds Gin tastes like p**s"
Reynolds: Very expensive p**s to you James, once my lawyers have finished with you!!

This is great thank you. My big question is about the stove top- is that electric? Induction? or are there gas burners underneath?
👆>>>
James wearing a white Rolex Milgauss.....Nice!!👍

I would have expected you to go with the American Ramstud on this dish. The mustard notes should play well with the shallots and garlic.
Asian style mussles are very popular too, gin or not.
👆>>
James you could rename this series 'Who doesn't love Lucy Brown?' She is a straight shooter who speaks her mind, I think most fans enjoy that trait.
If I stayed anywhere near the UK I would have been to this place at least one of twice by now.
What you need to do next James, is to make some gin based cocktails. I would suggest GIN-ger Ale and GIN-ger Beer.

How many meals can May destroy with his gin?
Given the chance - all of them. Then again, I can't stand gin so I'm biased. 🙂
Do you think Gin Butter would go down well with the Christmas Pudding this year.
I'm only an hour away. I really should call in and try it!
Let us know how it is.
Bring back everything, miss all that lockdown content

Just had some mussels in Belgium. 😊

Might be useful if you mentioned where the pub is just off the A30 😛
Is it .
Is Asian Parsnip still being sent to the US, my brother just dropped my bottle and now my kitchen floor is enjoying the peppery parsnip and not me =(
Looks like it.

Last I heard, Gin is Vegan. That said, can you think of any vegan foods to make with James Gin?
Love the videos! Keep 'em coming!
Tofu?
They should provide a pin drop for google maps or google earth for the restaurant so we can see the location from our country
how many dishes can we use gin with?
3:48 as an american... WHAT!?
Bim and Gin. I'll take a double thanks

Some really exquisite tomato soup try next with your gin😂😂
I had a feeling that his Gin was gonna come in here in some way or another….
If our James grew his beard longer, was just thinking Billy Connolly lol.

Where is this pub then?
My godmother and I visited that pub a month ago. We just stopped for a drink, but it was still an amazing experience.

Please make gin out of carobs. I only drank once in my life and searching that heavenly taste for more than 20 years.
the thumbnail is excellent, it just screams "je ne sais pas!!!"
Everything tastes better with gin, Tonic water, orange juice, Weetabix!
1:22 why did they not add in the clip of Gordon Ramsay and that bloke arguing over cooking a muscle😭🤣
Now, what if you have the normal one and just put a small touch of the gin?
Or better yet, sip some gin... you know... while having the normal one?
I have a better idea. No mussels, shallots, etc. Just add the gin to the wine add serve with a large chunk of bread. Call it Gin ala Vin.
A flambe next?? Just use the navy gin for it.

Throwing shade at Ryan Reynolds 🤣..careful James. Whales is not that far of a drive
