Yes! Absolutely can. I have been using it green. If you check my chicken adobo video it showed there as well as on my adobo sauce shorts. Good question and thank you.
here in the uk its treated just like a herb, its great in stews and soups, can be eaten fresh or dried, has a lovely smell when pruning like spearmint chewing gum! the health benefits are amazing and the leaves make a great tea!
