I add a very small block plane to the arsenal for tapering the neck thickness from the heel to the headstock. The Veritas "Apron Plane" is a great option.

Very nice. I like the idea of using the scraper more. Have you tried curved scrapers to help with the neck curvature?

My experience is that a curved scraper is of no advantage and possibly even a determent.

I did one neck on an octave mandolin kit and I didn't have a scraper. Where was this video when I needed it? I'm fairly close to hopefully carving my own neck soon, and this is good timing to prepare me for doing that.
