Is the MVP Glitch overhyped? | Disc Golf review

- I have been stubborn about the Glitch, but I finally took it out multiple times to put it through its paces. Bottom line... it is a great disc that is more stable than I thought it would be, but the extra glide that makes it great also makes it a little scary. Wonderful disc, but I won't be bagging it.

Awesome content! Good edit and shots. Felt like I was there with you.
thank you so much for the kind words!
I think you must have been babying it the first time out. I had a similar experience with mine. When I got confident in the little bit of fade, I started putting more power on it, and it flies dead straight with almost zero fade, which stinks when you're trying to curve around something. I like it for putter upshots, and I think the Glitch is fantastic for turnovers. I think it's super fun, and on an open hole (with limited wind), I can smash it for about 300', but you gotta get the height, or the glide doesn't really kick-in. Really enjoyed the video!
Yep, you carry your own ideas of how a disc "should fly" and so your arm and your body are trying to match that thought... so it took a while to unlearn my wrong ideas about how to throw it. That is why I think you have to play a good bit with a disc before you give a "review". I like the disc a lot, but it is a specific tool for specific shots... in the open and little wind, or in the woods where you can't generate the same swing for regular shots... that glide is great. Putting... always a little scary. :D thanks so much for watching!
Expecting this page to build some torque and take off. Real good content man. Great audio, and can see the flight of all your throws for the most part plus good commentary. Keep it up.
Thank you, I am working on it. I appreciate you taking the time to comment.
I’d love to see a forehand putting tutorial!
Boy... you are a glutton for punishment aren't you? :D For some reason forehand putting just comes more natural to me, so some of what I do is more by feel which is tough to teach... but, I will definitely think about it. Thanks
Glad I stumbled on this video, smooth form, and a very well done video with an actual honest real review after actually using the disc.
Thanks for stumbling in and for the kind words!
Perfect sound, good production. Better than 90 % of all disc golf content. Love that you r miced up. Instant sub and like. Follow flight grapchics maybe at some selected shoots? mark the basket with overlay graphics sometimes? On the other hand, then your production wold bew better than all other, eaven Jomez pro. I recon this takes some times to make even now.
Thank you so much for the kind words. I have tried to balance adding graphics and follow flights with how much time I spend editing... but I will definitely try to do more. Your encouraging words help me want to do more. :D
Nice to actually be able to see disc flight in this video. So often DG videos are too blurry to see anything that happens.
thanks, i am working on it! I appreciate the encouragement!
What weight was this? They make these in some very light weights, I have the lightest at 142 (got it for playing catch with my kids). I've played around with it for shots but it's very understable for me but I'm guessing that's just the extremely low weight. Great shots!!
I believe that one was 148 grams... they don't make them above about 152 grams if I remember correctly. I have found that some of them are definitely more understable than others, and the lightweight can be a contributing factor. I injured my right elbow and so i dusted off the Glitch yesterday for an all lefty round with it, and I found that even with my slower speed throws lefthanded that it wanted to drift towards understable... but not too badly. Thanks for watching!
@@ogdiscgolferThat sounds right about the max weight for these. I may have to pick up a heavier one because I really do like the disc! Thank you for the response, Pete! Hope your elbow heals up quickly!
I talked to a guy at League Monday night and he really likes the Glitch, but said that he found the new Spore to be a little more Torque resistant. I haven't tried one yet, but could be interesting. I love one speeds (Innova Birdie has been one of my all time favorites) and the Glitch is a really neat disc. Just have to be careful in the wind since it is so light and glidey. But, man when you need that easy floating shot... it is great!
Awesome to see you truly test this disc. Thanks for the review.
So glad this was helpful!
You are an amazing forehand putter. What disc (s) do you use for that?
Thanks so much! I have been using a stash of Innova Birdies, but lately I have switched to the Kastaplast Bergs because the plastic holds up better and they are less affected by the wind. I am working on a forehand putting video coming in the near future… I hope. Thanks so much for watching and taking time to comment.
Hey Pete, love your stuff real curious about what you're using to record on here?
Thanks so much! Iphone 11 Max with an older generation dji Mobile 4 gimbal on an IFootage Cobra Monopod with ball head tripod base and using a Zoom f-1 field recorder with lav mic. Everything works great, but I am thinking about creating some leg extensions for the small tripod legs on the Monopod to help avoid the camera falling over in windy conditions or loose/muddy surfaces.
I don't know why, but if I try to hyzer my glitch it just goes straight. I can't get my Glitch to do anything but straight shots.
That first Glitch was definitely more stable than the second one I have now. Both of them beat in pretty quickly to be straight to flippy, but others that I have seen have been more straight or even flippy fresh out of the box. I think their beat in state is going to be straight-ish, but more understable... but I could be just talking out of my butt. :D thanks for watching.
@@ogdiscgolfer mine is FRESH. So maybe it'll get more workable in the future but right now it's so stable.
OK the way I was reading it... your Glitch was going straight and would not fade to the left. But yor saying it is very stable...that was exactly how my first glitch was when I started... it was very over stable and then after just a couple rounds it began to beat in and started flying more straight than stable.
I really like all of your positive feedback on the disc. Thanks
You are welcome! thanks for watching.
Great video! My Glitch comes this week, can’t wait.
Feels like it’ll stick to chains especially well in addition to the flight characteristics.
Have fun!
Your throws are so smooth seems like an awesome disc for you
Thank you for the comment... it is a fun disc.
I have had the same issue with the Hex. I keep expecting it to flip or fade and it doesn’t.
Isn't it funny the presuppositions we can infect a disc with? Thanks for watching Brian!
Seeing hole 2 at Inverness on camera, I had no idea where you were. On video that dip at the end looks tiny. It’s huge.
I know, right! It is at least 100 feet deep... :D
7:29... fight club reference?
No, you give me too much credit... I do like to sneak in various easter eggs, but not that one. Thanks so much for watching!
@@ogdiscgolfer musta been a glitch in the matrix. Thanks for the vid!
I'm kind of an odd duck too. I like playing weird discs and I throwe a little different. It works for me. My favorite driver is still a Wraith and I throw it well. :)
The Wraith is a great disc... don't fix what ain't broken! Thanks for watching!
That woods course though 😍
Inverness is such a great/tough course. It will reward you sometimes if you play well, but there is always crazy roll aways and tough rough to turn a good round into another story of what could have been. Staying clean and bogey free through all 18 is very tough. Thanks so much for watching!
Great video! Great course too!! Where is it located?
@@RBDawking76 Inverness Disc Golf course in Hoover, Alabama just outside of Birmingham. Usually rates around 4 or 5 in the top courses in Alabama on UDisc. Tough wooded with lots or elevation for roll always. Thanks for watching.
Pete Thanks for the Video!
Thank you for watching!
I love it for a game of catch.
It is a great disc for catch and playing around!
I bought a Glitch i'm very excited to throw it
It is a very fun disc to throw. I love to use it to warm up before a round.
Want some strange stuff to throw? Check out the NSH Customs Mr Putt. It’s a 1 speed Tilt and possibly the best roller disc ever made….and they’re 3D printed.
Thanks, I will have to look into it.
Pete, do you offer lessons?
Not currently... I may do some in the future, but I don't have any plans to at this time. thank you for asking.
i'd use it if my course didn't have any wind :S great catch disc though
Totally agree! I like the disc alot and have it in my saddlebag to play catch or a one disc round, but I get worried with wind or floating by the basket. Thanks for watching!
That is some serious rounding…
Hey, if you are going to do it... do it big! :D
LOLLL tom cruise run that got me
That just means you are not right in the head like me! :D Thanks
@@ogdiscgolfer great video man!
I love flicking my Glitch because of the challenge.
You really gotta be gentle
I totally get it... it really is a fun disc but I tend to be a little more blunt and heavy handed. :D
OK, glide 7, yes, but speed... 1? Really? Seems faster.
no, I agree that it seems like it should be faster, but it is indeed a 1 speed Disc :-)
It’s 100% overhyped but damn is it still fun to throw
I totally agree. I love the disc and have a lot of fun with it, but as a disc in my bag that I can count on... it leaves me a little nervous that it will glide past my mark. thanks for watching!
"I like to be a little contrary" is not a fun personality trait.
Tell me about it… I am torn about whether to agree with you or not. :D Thanks for watching.
yes it is! haha
@@shanesplanetshane3795 :D
The Glitch is hyped up because it's amazing.
I think it is a great disc... but I just don't think it can be trusted in the wind and so I will mainly use it as a warm up and catch disc. Thanks for watching.
Wouldn't have guessed you're a hipster lol.
I was weird before hipsters were born! :D
