Happy New Year! Thank you everyone for helping me reach my goal of 1000 subscribers. I'm looking forward to seeing how this channel grows by the end of 2022! All the best everyone and happy bikepacking!
I watched this video a year ago having never done a multi day ride and was inspired to do it, Holyhead-Cardiff. I did it last month over 5 days on my gravel bike. It was fantastic, weather was great. I added route 82 between Barmouth and Aberdyfi which was breathtaking and barely a path. And like you 2 of us started but it ended up just me due to my mate getting ill. Thanks for inspiring me man!
Thank you everyone for watching - I bring out a new adventure film every month so please help me reach 1000 subscribers if you liked this film! Leave a like and a comment and I will always reply! Many thanks and happy bikepacking. - Tom :)
Wife and I cycled this 2 weeks ago in perfect weather. Fabulous route as we did the full fat version of NCN 8 and camped each night. Thank you Sustrans.
Great video. Really inspiring. I've been researching riding the full Welsh coast, Deeside to Chepstow, so it was inevitable this video would end up in my feed. I can see my house half-built at 01:38 too!
Really beautiful video! What an amazing trip too! I bought a month ago my bike and I plan to train myself for 1 year and then I will attempt to cycle along national route 8.
Beautiful video, thanks for posting, makes me feel homesick. Would love to do a multi day ride through my home country! Hope your dads joints eased with the rest! Bob...
Well done to both of you, it looked like hard work in places and the weather was not at it's kindest. Great video, I enjoyed watching it over a cup of coffee.
Fab footage. I felt every butt aching moment of doing route 8 all over again. The toughest climbing day for me was starting from Hafren forest through Corris, Dylife, Machynlleth to Dolgellau. Killer hills but amazing views! I was very lucky with the weather just a few weeks ago early September, I can't imagine doing it in the rain you and your dad had?!
Great video. How was the route? I’m planning this for 2021 late May. I have a light road bike. Just a bit concerned that it might not be suitable for some of the tracks. Planning a small bike pack overnight gear only. Did you mainly do Bed and Breakfast?
Thanks! It was very tough actually. Not sure whether it was down to the stormy weather but the route was very muddy and rough. Definitely wouldn’t recommend on a normal road bike. I was running 42s and I’d say that’s ideal! Yes we only stayed in b and bs this time. Not the best weather for camping! Good luck with it 👍
@@Cycling366 Thanks for your reply, that is really helpful as i have planned 35 mile days over 7 days but because i don't know the terrain just was not sure. Want it to be enjoyable and not a slog. Your reply helps so much.
@@Cycling366 Hiw did you find the navigation of the route? Can it be done easily without using a Garmin? I often have a Garmin cycle computer with a GPX route fed into it, but it's brutal on battery power and would need charging every night, which can't be guaranteed. I'd love to be able to do it just using my Sustrans map.
It was pretty easy to navigate mostly. Well signposted but some of the route was closed due to the storm so we had to renavigate. Otherwise might be worth getting a portable battery bank! Always comes in handy!

Brilliant! Would love to do it again without the torrential rain 🌧 😆 it’s a beautiful route

Thanks very much. :) You’re lucky to have been born in such a stunning place! And thank you he’s back to normal now 👍

Rode this in July this Year.
Nice one! Hope the weather was better than my trip!
Amazing effort 👏👏
Thanks!
Nice! I just learned about this route and have always wanted to check out Wales. What time of the year did you take this trek?
Thanks! We did this in July. Very stormy weather for the time of year though! 🌬 🌧
Thanks for the video, I'm starting to yearn for another mini tour and this has cheered me up. What route did you follow?
I’m feeling the same! Can’t wait to get out again. We basically followed NCN route 8 all the way up. Hope that helps. :)
I like your Channel. You should keep working on It and uploading more and more videos. Thanks and good luck.
Thanks! Please subscribe if you liked it 👍
Great video. What were your daily distances. In the process of planning it and thinking 35 miles a day.
Cheers mate. I think we did between 50-75 miles a day at the time. Covered 250 miles in 4 days so there or thereabouts!

No worries. It is a bit of a slog over 4 days to be fair! Brilliant route but if you can take longer to enjoy it then I would!
