Hello from Morocco to our Portuguese and Spanish neighbors. I wish that our future will be brighter than our past, and that we may build an everlasting in the area for the generations that will follow!
Why u sa y this our past was so glorious and so bright their past was full of savagery and gloomy they were blood thirsty don't u know what they did in the courts of investigations or u r licking their shoes ????
@@tamimabdou7214 You are totally delusional my friend , If you think that in the muslim world there was no savagery at the time. Never heard of rinces killing their brethren so they can get the throne for themselves? Nobles harrassing poor people, slavery, harems....and so on? Did you now what the Omeyyads did to the family of the Prophet and his Sahaba, peace upon them all? Of course you know.
Our silly education system is over glorifying the past of the muslims is laughable. It's made to cope with our current shi**y place in the world, and also to legitimate the puppets that are ruling us now.
Please exercise yourself to some critical thinking, because without that knowledge Is
obsolete.

Another thing Who told you the Omiyids killed the offspring of the profit peace be upon them All. I smell the odor of shiism in ur words!!!!!!!?
@@tamimabdou7214 First of all, the correct term Is the "Inquisition" not investigation which is a broader concept. And you are acting a lot like the inquisitors by calling me Shia, you are contradicting yourself.
Second, the war between Morocco and Spain lasted for centuries, during war there is atrocities on the two sides. I knew many spanish people, most of the time they treat you better than your muslim/arab fellow country men. So, you want me to hold a grudge against an entire nation because of events who happened decades ago? Did the Japanese forbid relations with the USA, because of Nag and Hiro? You have a very narrow and immature view on human relatonships and general politics.
And last but not least! The holy fucking Omeyyads, (except al Walid I who abandoned the crown, and Umar abd el aziz who was a great calife). The relatives of the prophet who were murdered by omeyyads you said! Ali Ibn abi Taleb was murdered by poisoned knife when he was struggling against Muawiya (the first omeyyad calife). Hussain the grandson of the Prophet killed by the army of Yazid (the second omeyyad calife) and his brother Hassan who was (also?) poisoned, and guess when and why. The sahabas killed by omeyyads, Ammar ibn Yasser and Ubaid allah Ibn zubair...... The holy city of Medine was sacked for three days by the omeyyads, so rape, plunder murder and enslavement....
I was thinking that you were just delusional, now I'm guessing that you're ignorant too.
And dont go calling me Shia again, Morocco Is the country with the least number of Shia and It is very unpopular here. but facts are facts, even If they dont please you man. Again , grow a critical mind.

@Plo Koon yeah, whatever nationalist Portuguese, a lot of the expansion in Brazil was due to both crowns united and because they were one country the Tordesillas Treaty no longer need to be in use.
@Plo Koon Not luckily for you I am not a nationalist, rarely a patriot, but you are telling lies and it shows that you are partial, the union of crowns worked, but it was when the "Count of Olivares" wanted to take away the privileges of the Portuguese bourgeoisie and nobility that they rebelled, when Spain already respected the institutions and Portuguese language.
You said: "Portugal suffered a lot under Spanish rule, the Portuguese people hated the Union of the Crowns that simply brought death and misery to Portugal". Just show how biased you are and how little you know about history, you just want to lie and justify the decline.
@Plo Koon you gave me some reason when you affirmed that until the nobility rebelled, the Portuguese were not "free", the count of Olivares wanted to end the disparity and tax difference to revitalize the Treasury and end the privileges, sadly that affected mostly to the citizens because the King was not going to take risks with the nobles because he needed his support, but the count insisted on ending the privileges of the nobility and that enraged both the Spanish and Portuguese nobility, hence the independence. One thing you and I agree, the Austrias (Habsburgos) were bad rulers when using the manpower of the Iberian Peninsula and the raw materials of their Empire to finance wars against Protestants and maintain Austrian hegemony in the Holy Roman Empire. I have no intention of whitewash the history of Spain, but to say that Spain was the worst for Portugal seems to me bad and very biased. Especially since if Spain had won the war against the Netherlands and Great Britain, Portugal would never have had to worry about losing any colony to its future competitors. I dont know all the history of Portugal but i know the history of my country with Portugal and because of that i know some of your statement are wrong or biased.
This is a quality, a high quality
Thank you very much.
Love our Portugal brothers and sisters
This was the biggest tragedy in Portuguese history. The loss of the young king Sebastian without issue resulted in Portugal losing its independence to Spain. During the 60 years that the Iberian Union lasted, Portugal lost much of its power and earned the enmity of the many enemies of Spain.
Ministry of Truth Portugal was still independent,as much independent as any state that was part of the Spanish empire, the Netherlands,Sicily, etc etc
With one Hiberian Kingdom, our colonies were neglected, the dutch and the English took them one by one since technically there was no more a kingdom of Portugal.

King Sebastian was a virgin lunatic that disgraced his dinasty and Portugal. Still, the love the people had for him, calling him the "wanted one", makes him a crucial point in portuguese history and culture. Sebastianism was born out of his defeat at this battle, a belief the king was not dead, rather was to come back and rescue the kingdom on a dawn of fog...whant to understand the Portuguese soul? Know the life and death of Sebastian. From Portugal, many thanks history march!
He had a very poor couselling: surrounded by extreme cathollic and nobles who dreamed getting a name trough conquest... he was young, very imprecionable and easy manipulated ( a litlle bit like Trump today)... he dreamed about ancient battles and victories made by the kings of old...but that time was long gone...
@@florazul-1191 True, but like Trump he ignore the warnings of danger: from his mother queen regente, from his fort commanders in Morroco and his uncle the spanish emperor...beside being a ruler always make sure to leave a heir to throne when ridding to certain death...losing his life en the battle cost us our indepence.
@@florazul-1191 never the less the Battle of the three Kings (named by the mourish) aka the Battle os Alcácer Quibir (Alcáce=the Castle) at a national scale was a disaster, but in the grand plan was a success because the Otomans Turks plans for Morroco fell to the ground completly never to put in use again....
In fairness to Sebastian he was just one of many, many young kings who set out thirsting for glory and conquest against much larger foes, risking everything in the process. Henry V of England comes to mind, as does Alexander the Great, and they are remembered positively in spite of the fact that had they failed it would have been just as bad for their realms as it was for Sebastian's Portugal.
The difference being of course that their gambles paid off whereas Sebastian's didn't, though as HistoryMarche makes clear, the battle that claimed his life almost went very differently.

The death of Sebastian created the union of Portugal and Spain, not the loss of the independence of Portugal. People forget that Philip I of Portugal / Philip II of Spain was half Portuguese. So, Spain also had a Portuguese as their king, and not just a spanish as the king of Portugal. Anyway this union was a disaster because the best war ships of Portugal were damaged in the infamous Invencible Armada campaign. Portugal was the sea power at the time, and never recover their prime after that.
Carlos Marxo 100% true.
Indeed , that's totally wrong & false infos boy .
That is correct, though it did result in the loss of independence when Filipe II (son of Filipe I) took the throne illegally and started forcing Castilians into the Portuguese administration.
King Felipe II of Spain who later became also King Filipe I of Portugal wasn't the rightful heir to the portuguese throne anyway but instead it was Infanta D.Catarina de Bragança and she was the one who should have been crowned after the DEATH of Cardinal-King D. Henrique I.
King Felipe of Spain took the portuguese crown by military force and economic bribes gaining ONLY a limited political support among a few portuguese nobles from the remainder of the nobility after the moroccan disaster but the vast majority of the portuguese people was never in favour of the Union of the 2 Iberian Kingdoms (read about D.Antonio, Prior do Crato and the Battle of Alcântara)

First of all I want to say as a Moroccan and as a long time viewer of HM, thank you very much for making a video about my country.
The Saadi dynasty was in fact a Berber dynasty but they introduced the Sharifian caste model in Morocco and of course many Moroccans started to identify themselves as Sharifians because of social benefits including the ruling elite like the Saadi Dynasty. Also important is the roll and support from the Ottomans during this battle, without it the Moroccans couldn't resist the Portugese crusader army imo.
you're totally right, you explain it perfectly
Sebastian over here was influenced by the nobility on chasing glory in battle and Morocco for not being christian and being in the way of the maritime route to india back them was the logical place to go. Ottomans were backing them cuz they pretty much had to for Islam superiority in the region which was of the upmost importance back then
Why do we hear about this animosity between morrocco and Ottoman Empire ?? What’s its historical basis if ottomans did help morrocans ?
Actually Ottomans And Saadias Hated Each Other...
And in the Battle Ottomans didnt help, All The Warriors were Moroccans Soldiers from Different Tribes...
Morocco WON because of Sebastián Dvmb tactic...
And The Saadis are probable Arabs since The Almohads Morocco used a lot Of Arab Warriors and Tribes
@@Omegaeon1 Many so called Moroccan nationalists don't want to accept the Ottoman role in the defeat of the Portuguese Army because of obvious reasons like hatred for the Ottomans.

Moroccan empire great again 🇲🇦🇲🇦🇲🇦🇲🇦🇲🇦🇲🇦🇲🇦
i watched instantly after you have upload. keep going
This battle was very consequential for Brazil. For portugal it was a great tragedy, and lead to their annexation by Spain (iberic union 1580-1640). The union with spain, dragged portugal (and all its possessions) to all wars spain was involved.. this lead to the sacking of my homecity (Recife) by James Lancaster in 1595 and the invasion of Northeastern Brazil by the Netherlands, as a consequence of the war between spain and the lower countries. King Sebastian also became some kind of religious legend, and his cult (Sebastianism) sparked a rebellion here in Brazil in 1896. The cultists waited for his return (The body of the king was never found, and because of that he became a religious martir) with his knights to reclaim the Brazilian empire from the newly founded republic. His prophet was called Antonio Conselheiro (Conselheiro means adviser).
Portugal was NOT anexed by Spain.
Portugal entered a Personal Union with Spain (2 countries sharing the same King).
The difference is important. In a Personal union both countries share the same king but they keep being independent countries, each with their own laws.
Another great video keep it up brother

Battle of Alcacer Quibir is so underrated
Thank you for posting finally ♥️♥️👍👍👌♥️
Spaniards watching this in the background laughing evilly xd
@Justin Case
Hey guys arent you Two Bros?
Well, Philip actually talked to Sebastian (his nephew) not to go. Obviously later he took advantage of the situation.
Spaniards were waiting Portugal lose and Ottomans were waiting Morocco lose , they were 4 neighbors , everyone of them waiting the fall of the others
@@mustapha4863 Funny, never thought about that. So if Sebastian won and let's say he took over Morocco then probably the Ottomans would invade which might mean Spain gets involved too and who knows what the world would be like if this one battle played out in a different way, crazy stuff.
King Sebastian : I will conquer Morocco, convert its people to Christianity and expand the Portuguese empire
