i get a lil dopamine bump when i see a new Pato video available. i like what you find interesting; you are much younger than me, but your interests still seem to run relatively adjacent and overlap in places, which makes watching your vids fun. also some really good recommends. hope you have a good 2025.
im so so so excited to read more of toni morrison, i’ve only read a bluest eye and sula even though i’ve cumulated most of her books. I will have to pick up jazz next!! 2025 is going to be my big brained year 😋
it's always so special to see all of your interests accumulate in such a beautiful list of books! if you loved The Idiot, i most definitely think Either/Or is such a great follow up. really need to pick up Picture Cycle! thank you for another year of you, Pato
I am so pleased to have found you. Some great recommendations I am looking forward to adding to my TBR.Several writers I have read and love. I very much enjoyed Cusk’s Second Choice and The Country Life. You are the first I have heard give a positive review for her Trilogy. I will no longer put it off. Thanks for the great video & Happy reading!😊📚
I’ve put 5 of them on my ‘to read’ list! Looking forward to James Baldwin the most as I’ve read 4 of his books over the last month or so (he’s now one of my favourite writers) and I actually have Another Country on my bookshelf!
if you liked a supposedly fun thing you'd probably like consider the lobster by him, another non fiction collection i really like. some of his short fiction is also really touching, maybe try "little expressionless animals", "good old neon" :)
Thanks for sharing! Definitely adding all of these to my list. I just finished reading this phenomenal collection of fairy tales entitled ‘Sillies, Fancies and Trifles’ - it was just brilliant and perfect for the season. I think you would really love it. Keep up the great vids :)
Both the seas and when we cease to understand the world have been on my list for a bit now but you made them sound so good that I feel I must move them up in priority!
happy new year !! always love to hear you talk abt reading, i started watching your channel from your book content and it’s always a pleasure to see more of it :) i’m so committed to finally reading lots of morrison this year and this has just made me so much more determined haha
Happy New Year, Pato! I immediately started tracking down the Stefan Zweig. That’s right up my alley and the last time I read one of your faves,it ended up being one of mine too. I can’t wait to start it. 🎉🎉🎉
i really wanted to like the idiot. i think i just wasnt in the right headspace when i was reading it. got about halfway through and was enjoying it but i needed something plotty at the time. maybe i'll get back to it. thanx for the video :3 also in terms of music, have you heard of cameron winter? released a solo album last month that i think is right up your alley. he's quickly become one of my favourite songwriters.
Dog cameo ❤ oo wow interesting id never have thought of a wes anderson helmed “the seas” adaptation. It’s a fav of mine too 🥹 Always love hearing your thoughts on your reading life. The way you talk about the idiot makes me want to finally read it. Your a little life vid made me want to read it when i had zero intention to prior - i’ll get to it this year!!
