Hi, I asked a question 8 months ago (you can see original in thread below) alao I can see a couple other people asked the same after I did. I wanted to know other than the laptop being connected via the usb is there another stereo source to connect a DJ Controller? Thank You
maybe an update where I can input another mixer for example a live band mixer that I want to put in my podcast, and I need the balance option on each channel so I can use 2 mic inputs to put one for the right channel, and one for the left channel, and also a mic/line input option. That would be great!
When I do this the USB audio blends into my mic audio and for whatever reason I cannot get my mic to NOT pick up the USB channel have you or anyone else had this issue before?
@@TTRasGriz USB audio can get a bit complicated because unlike the other inputs, it's also an output, so when the computer uses the USB as a sound input it will blend with whatever's being output. In this particular scenario, the computer will be using the Rode as the output, but you would need to make sure the computer is not also using it as an input. Then, the only thing coming OUT of the computer is the audio from whatever it's playing, so when the RodeCaster's USB input only hears whatever it was playing. Of course, that's assuming you are recording to an SD card, and not recording on the computer. If you use the RodeCaster to record on the computer, then computer will need to see it as an audio input, and the entire mix of the RodeCaster will blend together... to manage that, they have a Mix-Minus option to basically send the entire mix... Minus the audio from the channel itself.
This is already a great product. I would love to see a dedicated line/aux channel for playing music from an external source other than the laptop via a usb while streaming or recording your podcast. I've been looking for ages for something like this but that is the one and only thing that has me in 2 minds on getting it now.

Shame it is not mentioned, not a big problem I know but when you are waiting for an item and then cant use it, its frustrating. Sound and design of the gear it awesome!
How can I get sound from OBS, like videos or audio files, that are held in OBS to listen in Rodecaster Pro when played to record them on the Rodecaster. I know them are in the OBS recording and you can see the audio meter in OBS moving wile played, but can't listen to them in my Headphones of the Rodecaster.
Very useful! Especially your clarification about why you should NOT use the USB set-up if you want to use Skype or Zoom to record calls/remote interviews. Thanks for that
@Brett, I was confused when he said not to use USB for recording interviews. I've only used the USB for recording Interviews and it sounds pretty good to me. So, if I want to have a guest via skype (video/audio) AND I want to have everyone able to hear sounds from my computer (like if we are reacting to a video together) I have to have the guest connect to the board via bluetooth? Why is that? Is it because the guest will get a feedback loop if you send their voice (via the computer) to the board, becasuse they will then hear themselves in the master mix? that is the issues I'm having with my Zoom L-8 board and I'm looking for a solution. Zoom told me I could create 3 separate mixes for my hosts that included the computer audio (guest) and then have the master mix NOT include the computer audio so the guest won't hear themselves. For monitoring purposes I need to hear the master mix at all times to make sure things are not too loud/quiet. 2. for an unknown reason, the hosts mic were very hot and peaked easily when we did this. And, if I turned them down, it was too quiet. thanx for ur help.
Hey David, you shouldn't have this issue with the RØDECaster Pro. If you connect the guest via USB, you can turn on USB mix-minus so you don't create a feedback loop with your guest.
