If that's actually what it looks like, then Ranger and Hilux have nothing to worry about
putting the unreliable ranger in the same sentence as the Hilux should be blasphemy
Yeah the hilux is terrible to actually drive
Lol😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Highly unlikely it'll look like this, free publicity is what's it's all about for Kia. Nobody knows 100% what the Tasman looks like; until it is officially launched.
Agree 🤢
Finally the Mahindra ute has some competition for the world ugliest dual cab! 🤢😂
Hey!! The Mahindra one was atleast decent. This one is straight up war crime.
nah, cybertruck is the champ
It's an Agricultural Pik Up.
Anyway the new Global one looks pretty good coming 2025😂
They spent more effort in the advertising than the design of this car
Yes let's just design every car to look the same way , that will be so exciting, let me guess , in your eyes everything should look like a ford ranger or hilux or its ugly
Kia is putting a lot of effort on it, I think is as beautiful as a ranger or Hilux, it also wins when it comes to technologie and safety.
So much hype ,kia/hyundai know how to grease the wheels.
Yup, saw a Hyundai one at the NY motor show.. it looked like garbage in the flesh.. Wont be winning many battles in OZ....
KIA must have hired Homer Simpson as designer. Not sure how they will even sell one.
I was going to say the same lol😂
The Homer.........
😂
They really liked the bat mobile styling . How anyone buys a toyota gets me , most of them are really ugly cars . Most Asian cars are really ugly .
that was a piss funny episode
All the money they have spent on advertising hype may end up to have been polishing a turd.
It's like a Dodge Ram and a pug dog had a baby with FASD
Dodge RAM ? Err you must have not got the email. Dodge and RAM split into seperate brands and manufacturers way back in 2010. Production was moved to Chrysler plants.
Dodge has had ZERO to do with RAM’s for 14 years dude.
😅😅😅😅
@@AussieDazzaits just a joke....
@@AussieDazzaLOL, the RAM propaganda sucked you in!!😂
Dodge did a press release about why they “split” the name… it was down to the Dodge name (not very well received for quality/reliability), so RAM went out on their own.
Whilst both brands have changed assembly plants, both Dodge and RAM remain part of the “automotive dumpster of brands” Stellantis… and the parts and engineering are not isolated from each other, or other brands within the group.
Every manufacturer and their dog is making their products more ''premium'' with the obligatory price hikes but their target market is becoming poorer by the day.
I thought the triton got hit with ugly stick! Apparently not!
This one just got hit harder!
Amen. New triton is hideous. This isn't much better
Both are horrible
@@chriswilson2327This is much worse!!
Yup, saw a Hyundai one at the NY motor show.. it looked like garbage in the flesh.. Wont be winning many battles in OZ....
Does that mean controversial styling now means "butt ugly"?
Judging by BMW, yes it does
😂
Got a head on it like a half sucked mango , she's beautiful 😮😂
I must've missed the part where every car company is now making the dash one huge air vent.
Nothing new here ..most of it is just decoration.
@@planestrainsdogsncars4336 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Those guards are HORRIBLE! 🤮
Yep
It looks like the new prado.
Looks like it was inspired by Lego 😂
😅😅😅😅
Legomasters version 😂
YUK!
If it doesn’t come with the Genesis V6 Turbocharged Diesel engine then it really has not got much going for it.
Genesis is a straight 6 diesel engine. Do your own research.
Being kia, I think there's a good chance it will have a petrol engine option. Hopefully a 6 cylinder twin turbo
i used to think the new gen Triton was ugly
well, its not so ugly anymore!
Yup, saw a Hyundai one at the NY motor show.. it looked like garbage in the flesh.. Wont be winning many battles in OZ....
Bring back a basic pick-up truck like the 2000 Ford Ranger. No bling bling, no YMCA-connectivity, not overweight. A simple and honest work truck for light business and a daily driver. They started at US$ 11,995 !!!
not enough profit in it for them. These makers want to sell these $15k utes for $50k.
CEO: Ohhh, we don't want to sell too many of these vehicles as we are thinking of the environment.
We understand that there is already a lot of junk on Australian roads.
For this reason we have proudly engaged a group of bright 3 year old kinder kids to design this beauty for us.
It looks more like it was designed to squash kinder kids. You wouldn't see them.
Donno why Kia trying to hide the design, for there IS no design to whatever this is?
""Spy photo's released by Kia" .. ""Marketing photo's released by Marketing department of Kia"
Clickbait by Car Expert!
Yet the “ spy photos” are of the US model they were working on based on the Mojave and are years old, the dead giveaway is the vehicle has a Michigan number plate. The interior is a computer render based on what somebody thinks it may look like.
Sangyong has competition.
Haha, damned with faint praise?
SsangYong make some good vehicles… unfortunately for SsangYong, people also remember the terrible ones too!!
I think people would be impressed by the quality of the new ones… much better than any Haval.
@@lukeclifton4392 For many, the SsangYong country of origin is a big plus compared to the Haval.
Thanks for the look
Has Kia hired Optimus Prime as their lead designer recently? First that eyesore EV9, and now this....
Yup, saw a Hyundai one at the NY motor show.. it looked like garbage in the flesh.. Wont be winning many battles in OZ....
Looks like a jeep gladiator made of wood
Great video based on just photos and specs. Love your work
lets just say ford aint got nothin to worry about
Except reliability lol
Explain ?
I think it's pretty self explanatory if you actually watched the video
Fords losing 130k dollars a unit right now. We will be Lucky if Ford survives.
@@TProfileGbut the Tasman will boost their sales so no issue there 😂
Mazda need to put their new inline 6 in the BT-50. Would rock the market.
Mazda has zero engineering input into BT-50 though, so it would never happen.
@@alexaescht We will all live in hope till then.
Skyactiv diesels are shit
Yup
@@reckherdkek5685 The 2.5 Petrol is ok... in a SP25 not a big ute
So, I’m 54 seconds in the video and already I say “YUCK” sorry Paul, it’s just a terrible looking thing but because I like you I’ll keep watching anyway
Guide dog owner are excited
Hey Paul,
I saw something of Audi releasing a ute?? Can you please provide some clarification or confirmation or anything you may know about this? ANY idea what engine config at all? Cheers!
Did Kia get Homer to design this?
Nice video Paul! Just a quick correction: the 6 cylinder diesel in the Genesis is an inline engine. The Mohave is still on sale in Korea, the middle east and select markets in Eastern Europe. It is indeed a V6 diesel, and the only one produced in Korea.
Great review 😊
Tub is big
Distance between the rear cab and rear axle is a huge.
Rear overhang.
I have been liking what the Kia designers have been doing with their cars lately.
I been keen to see what they would do with the Ute.
If it looks like this and no v6 matching power I’m sticking with the ranger.
Back seat does look like it is more comfortable and leaned back better for passengers.
We live in the country and actually want it as a full electric. When we tow it’s not far, and if we have to tow that one time a year from Brisbane we’ll use an amarok. But this would be our daily driver if they make it available in Australia and the ranger lightning doesn’t beat them to the punch
Id love a modern ute with just the basics, if the price was signifcantly lower. But as we see with the hilux workmate and landcruiser, they are some of the most expensive utes to buy!
Loved the review. Yes the design is new, the squre shape though allows for better customizing for off road use.
I believe you missed out on marketing one of the most important features of any ute and that is the set back rear axle, for better carrying payload stability. The major manufactures have bypassed this safety feature for years. If Kia come out with that, the same as chinese utes are coming out with, it will surely make a statement to the other major manufactures to lift their game and follow suit.
Not sure if it’s just the render or my imagination, but that rear door looks awfully short , be Interesting to see how much leg troop it has in the back seat. Great video
Looks ok, side guards can be painted same colour as rest of vehicle if needed. Will look better with 32/33 tyres. Interior looks amazing, horizontal screen is more functional than a vertical. Back of seats are different to anything currently available, thats good. All positives thus far, except if the motor is underpowered! If it is, people will still buy it and thus fund the future V6 release., which will most likely be inevitable. I would definitely look at buying one if it comes with a V6 diesel / Petrol motor. I cannot see KIA doing a Mercedes, bring a ute out and if it doesn’t sell well then discontinue production. Odds are that they’re gonna commit to this vehicle if sales are poor. So from a futurist perspective, this is a big positive for ute buyers.
I have to disagree about the interior, that dash looks horrendous and not something many will like seeing everytime they drive
I love how everybody thinks this is ugly
Personally I think this will grow on you and before you know it it’ll be love
Yeah....nah
Great big no.
Especially that paint too possums ! Shoulda called it EDNA 🎉🎉🎉
I don't mind the design so much but really needed the straight 6 Diesel. The 4 pot looks a bit limp
Straight 6 will not fit; Kia will fit a V6 12 months after initial launch of the 2.2TD; will be a turbo-petrol in my opinion.
Wow, makes the Cyber truck look amazing…
i like its design..front reminds me of old 50s chevys pickup
5:40 Kia with a Body on Frame.... that is something new
Actually Kia has had a large body on frame SUV since 2008. And that wasn't even the first one.
If they drop the Stinger Twin Turbocharged 3.3L V6 engine in this Ute it will seriously compete with the Raptor!!!
Agree, I believe this will happen; 12 months after initial launch with the 2.2TD. I'm thinking the engine will be updated to around 230kw and 620Nm, perhaps with some hybrid technology. The focus will be on torque, not power.
Not in terms of design tho
V6 ? let's just put a v12 so it can compete with a golf gti in a race
no one will buy that ugly ass thing
Chris Bowen has ensured that won’t happen
If that's close to the final deign, I'm out.
It will not, this is more clickbait from CE.
@@Richard-sl8welook at 5:00 though, it can't be that far off
One of the first steps to designing a car for off road is moving the headlights inward away from the side of the vehicle otherwise they'll get scrubbed or broken way too easily.
Looks awesome
I would consider one but as was said few vids ago no space cab version which is shame as space cab give more room to store but larger tray then double cab.
CarExpert: “Pretty much what this is gonna look like”😂😂… other channels with actual leaked photos!!👏
With a design like that I don’t think it’ll do well. A face only a mother could love!! Interior looks nice tho
I’ll reserve judgement until we see the final version. I do hope they change their mind about the v6 diesel though.
I'm thinking Kia will launch a V6 turbo-petrol, 12 months after the 2.2TD launch, with hybrid technology. Everybody is just speculating what the Tasman will look like, free publicity for Kia and a 'news' article for CE.
It will be an updated Kia Stinger engine, in my opinion.
I thought that genesis gv80 was a straight 6 diesel and not a v6
Correct, an error from Paul.
I wonder if the suspension will allow it to be lifted
Are they going to do a single cab cab-chassis?
I’m am no Ford fan, but it is a big shame they didn’t do the 6 cylinder for the single cab ay
Hey Paul I need your advise. I want to buy a truck. I really like RAM. Your opinion about Ram? Which one is recommended? RAM TOYOTA OR FORD ? Or Isuzu ?
I was going to say that (unless the ATO changes the regulations), a 1000kg payload immediately removes it from the novated lease crowd.
But the way that looks, they might not be too upset....
And the car companies play to this, 1000+ kg payload in the lower tier models, and just under 1000kg in their top spec, this way they can upsell to the lease customers without trying
Those fenders are HIDEOUS! Straight outta 2000! What’s this, a Honda Element with a bed? Good luck selling that.
Am I the only one who thinks the design is distinctive and outstanding compared to other models.
looks great. needs a v6
Really?? looks great???
Headsup Specsavers are doing a 2-for-1 at the moment

Sorry , but you have mispelted gross :)
It looks fugly. Majority rules.
Nice how they integrated the ford ranger grille into the dash! 😂😂
The Triton looks so much better
People bash the triton, but the triton looks very good, it's just that the Australian gsr version got an ugly front bumper and the body colored grill.
The gls version actually looks very good, I have seen one in blue with the black grill and it looks rugged and tough , I would also delete the chrome on the dynamic shield and have both the grill and shield black, it looks amazing in that configuration
Triton is way better!
Actually it is beautiful compared to this thing...
Certainly looking like there have been some body design cues taken from the Jeep Gladiator.
Touch screens are great but an absolute failure on rough roads on the move. Jeep keeps all the dials and tactile switches in the centre, allowing the passenger to have control of climate and sound system whilst also allowing the driver control via the centre screen between the instrument cluster with steering mount buttons, and includes voice control.
Leaf spring rear? Seriously are we still in horse and cart days? Comfort is a primary concern right up there with power, torque and range.
What market is this truck would be released? US? 🤞
Not for the USA. Key market is Australia, hence the Tasman name. To be built in South Korea.
Paul, the Genesis has an inline 6 cylinder Diesel. The Petrol version has a V6.
Correct, everybody is just speculating at the moment; free publicity for Kia.
Will buy it on Day 1
Please don't. It's so ugly. It's resale will be so so bad.
If you want an ugly car, go buy the new triton.
The side panels look absolutely stupid. Nice otherwise
Hats off to KIA for a first attempt and a step in the right direction, but they can definitely improve on the looks.
Imagine buying a Korean Ute, especially when you have plenty of proven ones out there
They really missed a big opportunity by not puting in a v6 diesel option
I think it's unfair to criticize companies when the government has created regulations.
@@user-ru2yl8ts9bthe government works for us, not the other way round, we need to open our mouths and stop been wets.
You think just slapping in a v6 is so easy huh? , what you don't know is that each engine has to go through stringent emissions testing to meet the criteria of a specific country. The emissions standard are stricter in some countries compared to others.
Before you know it v6 won't be enough and people are gonna start asking for v8 in their utes and v12 , to do what I don't know?
@@warcrabcyber9908 kia already have diesel v6 motors in this market 😳 😑 🙄 😐
@warcrabcyber9908 and yea people want a bigger engine. Lots of people will in Australia will use it to tow its limit at 3.5 tons. If u don't think it's wanted and needed read the comments.
It's got nothing that would steer me to buy one if a straight 6 was available with 170kw and 500+ NM I'd be there.
Good luck trying to get parts somewhere in the outback if you have an issue.
I am not sure what is uglyer the Tasman or the Cybertruck. Korean pick up I would go for the Ssangyong Musso.
The design looks good
Surely that’s not it. Just when you thought that the Ssang Yong Rodius was the ugliest car ever to be made this happens! I was looking forward to this car to potentially buy. Hard no
It has not been officially launched in Australia yet, this is all speculation, free publicity for Kia.
@@Richard-sl8we hope so!
We need this in Canada !
in the olden days you wouldn't call somebody reversing up to a trailer an expert if they were doing it without a camera. It didn't warrant a mention at all.
Even the old Colorado came with 500nm 15 years ago, why are we still at that figure?
Interesting and very important for Kia, but it's basically just another diesel ute to add to the long list. The one that really interests me (and is getting much less attention) is the BYD 'Shark'. Now that is a fascinating and a quite radical addition... PHEV with a pretty long EV only range, lottsa tech, and at the right price (which is likely) could really inject some spice into the market. Soon. Stand by for Beijing reveal...
The BYD is Chinese. Not interested.
Pre release picttures only. Wait to see it in the flesh
Agreed, this is purely speculation to get RUclips hits!
It looks like they took the Ranger Raptor front grill, took out the headlights and made it the dash. From the rear quarter it looks kind of Jeep Gladiator with the squared off cab and long tray. Regardless, Kia make some great cars. That front grill is going to give good airflow with a bullbar and spotties fitted. In the end, good looks or not, the main thing is reliability
Nice looking ute
It looks better in wrapped. Best in case , they offer some custom wraps on the Production Model . Jeez.
Can't see any piano-black around the cabin. 👍👍
Looks very similar to my green waste bin that I put all my grass clippings in.
Koa test plates always display the power output. And I've seen plates with 187 so 187kw. Let's see
So true about annoying drivers aids for fleet and tradies,
Lasted about 4 hrs before the old duct tape over the radar sensors and camera disabled it permanently.
Now I can drive in silence 😅

Not really class leading in any way other than perhaps a fashion pick up truck rather than a work pick up truck. Is it available in manual or is it lazy man automatic only?
Did anyone else get an “Alien” vibe from the front view? 😂😂
Could it be a hybrid by any chance?
Would live when you do your big ute test this year if you hook them all up to a dyno and see how close to the factory figures they actually are.
Also, stop bashing on tritons drum brakes - they are more than adequate and not everyone has to keep up with the joneses
Hybrid four-cylinder is the way to go
They should've put the 2.5t petrol from the Serento in it. 4 cylinder diesels are slooow.
The Sorrento petrol engine is 3.5 litres, 200 kW but only 332 nm. The torque could be increased by Kia tuning it or a small turbo.
Yet the 3.5 litre engine in the Kia Carnival outputs 216 kW and 355 nm. Again, just need to increase torque.
@@Wdeane1957 In other markets, the Sorento can be ordered with a 2.5 turbo-petrol engine with 213kw and 422Nm; it's a 4-cylinder.
I believe the Kia Tasman will have the option (12 months after initial launch with the 2.2TD) of a 3.3 litre V6 turbo-petrol engine from the discontinued Kia Stinger. I'm thinking the engine will be updated to around 230kw and 620Nm, perhaps with the addition of hybrid technology.
The 3.5 litre N/A V6 engine in the current Sorento in Australia will be 'killed off' in the next 12 months I believe. Toyota did the same with the Kluger, V6 is gone.
@@Wdeane1957 some markets the sorento comes with 2.5T. they also have a 3.8 v6 in their line up which would've been better.
But will it survive being parked in the ocean at Bristol?
I wonder if it will have a different name in other countries. Tasman resonates in Australia.
If that’s how it’s going to look, doubt it will trouble the likes of Ford, Toyota, and Isuzu.
when you ask your 4 year old to design your new ute
In all seriousness all they needed to do was make it look like a JAKED Sorento with a tub.
Is it just me or are pickup trucks starting to look more attractive than SUVs. - I love the Toyota 4Runner in the US
Hi, American here. We don’t have the Mojave. Never heard of it lol
Also not in Australia.
Looks like it was called the Borrego in the US. It’s now discontinued and looks like it’s only sold in South Korea.
