Saw them live in june in a 350 venue in Belgium. Front row, one meter from the band. Just fantastic musicians! (I'm a musician myself, and saw hundreds of bands, so believe me if I say they can deliver live like the best of 'em!). I was also a staff extra, so I helped unloading and set up their gear, watch the rehearsals and was able to spend a (too short of course) time with them. Lovely unpretentious people, no misplaced ego. I HIGHLY recommend a live video to really catch the spirit and intensity of the band. Classic recommendations will be "Break The Wall - zepp diversity 2020", "Swan song (with Chopin intro"), "Set The World on Fire", "Soldier Stands Solitarily", "A Frozen Serenade" ... all very good suggestions!
They are phenomenal. They have an old school metal vide with their own spin. They will get more impressive as you dive deeper. Whatever song suggested will be awesome. @@thevikingbuddha I was going to say they can pull it off live. I also saw them in person, front row, in Atlanta just this past September at ProgPower and they put on an incredible show. There is no other guitar duo performing today in the metal scene who can harmonize and put on a show like Midori & Miyako, at least that I've seen or heard. I'm not saying they are the most talented ever, just that they perform so well together, and are totally in sync with each other and play these gorgeous and melodious solos at super high speeds. Many guitar players can play faster but they all sound boring to me. Not M&M though. I could listen to them all day long.
"If they can pull it off live?" Oh, Mr. Buddah, that is somethng these Japanese bands excel at. They don't play MV-stuff they can't replicate live, none of them and especially not LOVEBITES however impossible it sounds or appears. And this band s not "similar", they have summoned all the old school rock gods and amalgamated them into their own style of modern classic rock. Much of their oevre will stand the test of time. If you can't believe what you are seeing, wait until you hear them for real. This is a good song but mid-tier on technique and speed. Keep on diving and you will be paid in full. Namaste!

It took me listening to a few of their songs after I first clicked on their song "Holy War," to come around to the marriage between Asami's voice and the instrumentals behind it, and have since stayed for their music writing, styles, and performances for maybe 5, 6 years now. I don't see myself stopping listening to them any time soon.
Miyako (dark hair) was raised to be a classical musician, pianist actually from age 3. She writes most of their music and classical elements can be heard throughout their catalog. The lead singer Asami, well...think Bruce Dickinson or even Geoff Tate. They are an insanely talented group of musicians and an even better group of human beings. Welcome to Lovebites! The most amazing metal band I have ever heard. My favorite band of all time. It still amazes me that they even exist at all. I've seen them live - twice - and assure you that they can pull that off live, and then some, song after song. This was the encore closer for LA and second to last for SF recently. Was right in front of them. It's impossible what they do on stage, but you're standing there watching them do it and it is amazing. They have some great music videos, but live is almost always better, because seeing them perform is just on another level,. In person, even without post production, they sounded amazing. I was three feet away from them watching them play and Asami was right in front of me singing like that. I love Asami's voice and lyrics. Unreal. Impossible really. Also, Miyako, the black-haired guitarist, is operating in an entirely different universe. Wait until you see the things she can do! I think they're the greatest metal band of all time, but you'll have to check out some more to see if you agree. I hope you do! It won't matter what live performance you pick - it's all amazing. Many start on Holy War, which showcases them in power metal mode, but they have power metal songs, thrash, ballads and some full-on masterpieces. They don't disappoint. Glad you enjoyed them. They're a bit more unknown than they should be, given the talent.

Welcome to LOVEBITES 🤘🏼🐺🔥 Here some information about my favorite band: LOVEBITES was formed in 2016 by original bassist Miho and drummer Haruna. Their first EP and album both were released in 2017. So far the band has already released 4 full length studio albums, 4 EPs, a best of compilation and a bunch of live albums, available on CD/DVD/Blu-ray. In 2018 LOVEBITES won the Metal Hammer UK Golden Gods Award for best new band. LOVEBITES have toured in Europe back in 2018/2019 and also recently in 2024. This also includes appearances at most European major metal festivals such as Wacken, Download, Bloodstock, Graspop, Resurrection Fest and Hellfest. They also played their first US shows this year in September. In 2021 the band went into a hiatus, because founder and bassist Miho quit the band for personal reasons. During the break also two babies were born. LOVEBITES came back in October 2022 with new bassist Fami and a few months later with new album „Judgement Day“. Their newest release is „LOVEBITES EP II“ with 5 amazing new songs. Just when you thought you had heard all the Japanese all-female rock & metal bands, KOIAI pops up from the left.... 4 girls who are extremely talented and mix genres, almost to the extreme. But it always works. Guitarists Hazuki (NEMOPHILA) & Li-sa-X, lead singer Kotono (ex-IRONBUNNY) and the super talented drummer Kanade Sato. They are as good live as in the studio. They don't have that many videos, but all of them are of high quality. So just pick one and enjoy.
Lovebites = Eclectic Metal And they are SO much better live ! There are few ( if any ) bands in the world who can do what they are capable of in a live show . I've been listening to Metal since it began ( yes I'm that old ) and I can honestly say these ladies are the most insanely talented group of musicians to appear in a single band in the past 50 years - there is NO weak link . Their versatility is , as you will hopefully discover , unmatched - thrash , speed , symphonic etc etc . The 2 guitarists - Miyako and Midori are the best guitar duo on the planet ( neither started playing guitar until their very late teens and Miyako is self taught ! ) . I'd suggest sticking to LIVE performances - TBH they're not that big on MVs but there are a ton of lives to choose from . ENJOY !

Believe it or not, this one is not even of my top 15 songs by them, even if the performence are fantastic. They are one of the best bands in the world right now and i have never heard a better guitarduo then M&M (Midori and Miyako). The hype is real, have fun.
Was lucky enough to see Lovebites twice in the space of two weeks in London. Both unbelievable shows. Some of the audience were in shock just how good it was simply as it was raw, unfiltered in small venues with just their amps, and the pa. They really can play any style of metal. Been going to concerts for 35 years+ and both shows are in my top 3

Good power metal always has something of the musical theater about it. Indeed, some early songs of Lovebites had a tad of Broadway or maybe soul influence, something that they no longer do as much, having become heavier and faster on average and more power metal. There's no video, but if you want to know what I mean, listen to "Inspire" off their first album Awakening From Abyss. In general, they started out with the intention of playing a cross-section of 80s' styles, and they were much influenced by Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and old thrash. They put their own spin on it, like the aforesaid soul influence on a few tracks, and came up with a mix of classic metal, power metal, a bit of hard rock (even some AOR), and thrash, but altogether modernized in sound, with very good songwriting and arrangements (the musical instruction in Japan showing), and with a lot of energy. When I saw that music video I could not see them possibly pulling THAT off live, until I saw the live video and then witnessed it in person. That was PRETTY IMPRESSIVE!

Well, sir, even though it’s an MV, you just watched greatness. These beautiful Japanese women are extremely talented, skillful and versatile outstanding musicians. Their live performances are amazing. Their main influences are the great metal bands of the past but they have been developing their own and unique style. Asami used to sing R&B, soul and jazz before she joined the band. Miyako (black hair guitarist) is also a concert level classical pianist, trained since 3 years old. Miho (former bassist and founder of the band) once said that they wanted to play as heavy as men but keeping their femininity. They toured Europe in 2018-2019, and their presentation at Wacken Open Air, Germany, 2018, was a great success. If you want heavy stuff, I recommend “The hammer of wrath”, “Judgement day”, “We are the resurrection”, “MDO”, “Soldier stands solitarily”, “Set the world on fire”, “Thunder vengeance”, “Shadowmaker”, “Break the wall”, “Winds of Transylvania”. If you want softer: “Liar”, “Chopin etude + Swan song” (2020 version), “Edge of the world”, “Empty daydream”, “Epilogue”, “Spellbound”. All live. They have more than 60 songs.
Why does Lovebites sound different from other Japanese bands you've heard? Well because the genre with the characteristics of 80-90s Heavy metal like this is very rare especially outside Japan. Nemophila is a Metal band (more like Modern Metal with screaming vocals), Band Maid is a Hard Rock band and Lovebites is definitely a Heavy/Classical/Speed/Power Metal band and they also play Trash Metal. The vocalist's voice (Asami) is clean and beautiful but powerful. Their Official Video is great but their Live is amazing. Thanks for your reactions.

Pull it off live? The best live band I have ever heard and finally seen (saw them in Atlanta in September). Personally I would not say this is a good one to start with. It is a very different one in many respects, and you might think they are religious. Also, here you have a strong backing track. I'm a fan of HEAVY METAL from the 80-90's and LOVEBITES hit me in my soul. Those ladies still my Hart. In the 2024 tour i was i Paris at "La Maroquinerie". It was the best show, i see in my life ( similar show was private concert of METALLICA in 1997 in Paris at l'Élysée Montmartre). Lovebites was on 🔥 ( no air conditioning or recycling system) it was in basement of old building. I was in front row. ASAMI the singer give me a fist bump. I choose to be in MIYAKO side ( she's my favourite guitarist). The level of musicians in Japan is insane and the WOMENS are in the elite.

You didn't watch the MV to the end. LOVEBITES filmed this MV in the Christian Chapel of Yokogamma for a different reason. The opera has nothing to do with it. The song 'Glory to the World' was written at the height of the Covid-19 Pandemic, when many people were dying, when people were forced to adhere to various restrictions, etc. etc. The history of the creation of the song and what it is about, why the MV was filmed in the Chapel - this is a separate story. I can only give advice. Don't draw conclusions about the band based on one song. The discography of LOVEBITES includes songs of different metal genres - thrash metal, speed metal, progressive metal, power metal, neoclassical metal. LOVEBITES often mix several genres in their songs. There are songs with elements of symphonic metal, there are songs that sound closer to hard rock. There is classical music (piano). You are right that LOVEBITES are different from other Japanese metal bands. Their music has its roots in the New Wave of British Heavy Metal of the 1980s and 1990s. Yes, they pull it off live, even better, without some creep lurking around in the background. Also because there is a lot of interaction with the audience. Live is always better, IMHO. Also, the quality of their musicianship is much more obvious due to very good camera, recording, and sound quality.

Glory To The World” was written by Midori (guitar/blonde hair) after stopping by black churches in the U.S. and England, interacting with the people, and being inspired by the gospel music she heard there.
Vocalist Asami wrote the lyrics in the hope that people around the world, who have suffered from the pandemic and lost hope for the future, will regain their dreams.
Miyako (guitar/black hair) is the only female guitarist with Dean's signature mode

Saw them live in june in a 350 venue in Belgium. Front row, one meter from the band. Just fantastic musicians! (I'm a musician myself, and saw hundreds of bands, so believe me if I say they can deliver live like the best of 'em!). I was also a staff extra, so I helped unloading and set up their gear, watch the rehearsals and was able to spend a (too short of course) time with them. Lovely unpretentious people, no misplaced ego. I HIGHLY recommend a live video to really catch the spirit and intensity of the band. Classic recommendations will be "Break The Wall - zepp diversity 2020", "Swan song (with Chopin intro"), "Set The World on Fire", "Soldier Stands Solitarily", "A Frozen Serenade" ... all very good suggestions!

@@thevikingbuddha I was going to say they can pull it off live. I also saw them in person, front row, in Atlanta just this past September at ProgPower and they put on an incredible show. There is no other guitar duo performing today in the metal scene who can harmonize and put on a show like Midori & Miyako, at least that I've seen or heard. I'm not saying they are the most talented ever, just that they perform so well together, and are totally in sync with each other and play these gorgeous and melodious solos at super high speeds. Many guitar players can play faster but they all sound boring to me. Not M&M though. I could listen to them all day long.

Oh, Mr. Buddah, that is somethng these Japanese bands excel at. They don't play MV-stuff they can't replicate live, none of them and especially not LOVEBITES however impossible it sounds or appears. And this band s not "similar", they have summoned all the old school rock gods and amalgamated them into their own style of modern classic rock. Much of their oevre will stand the test of time.
If you can't believe what you are seeing, wait until you hear them for real. This is a good song but mid-tier on technique and speed. Keep on diving and you will be paid in full.

Soldier Stand Solitarely - will be another level experience - they have it LIVE
It took me listening to a few of their songs after I first clicked on their song "Holy War," to come around to the marriage between Asami's voice and the instrumentals behind it, and have since stayed for their music writing, styles, and performances for maybe 5, 6 years now. I don't see myself stopping listening to them any time soon.
I'm looking forward to hearing more from them.
Miyako (dark hair) was raised to be a classical musician, pianist actually from age 3. She writes most of their music and classical elements can be heard throughout their catalog. The lead singer Asami, well...think Bruce Dickinson or even Geoff Tate. They are an insanely talented group of musicians and an even better group of human beings. They are also easy on the eyes.

Welcome to Lovebites! The most amazing metal band I have ever heard. My favorite band of all time. It still amazes me that they even exist at all. I've seen them live - twice - and assure you that they can pull that off live, and then some, song after song. This was the encore closer for LA and second to last for SF recently. Was right in front of them. It's impossible what they do on stage, but you're standing there watching them do it and it is amazing. They have some great music videos, but live is almost always better, because seeing them perform is just on another level,. In person, even without post production, they sounded amazing. I was three feet away from them watching them play and Asami was right in front of me singing like that. I love Asami's voice and lyrics. Unreal. Impossible really. Also, Miyako, the black-haired guitarist, is operating in an entirely different universe. Wait until you see the things she can do! I think they're the greatest metal band of all time, but you'll have to check out some more to see if you agree. I hope you do! It won't matter what live performance you pick - it's all amazing. Many start on Holy War, which showcases them in power metal mode, but they have power metal songs, thrash, ballads and some full-on masterpieces. They don't disappoint. Glad you enjoyed them. They're a bit more unknown than they should be, given the talent.

Here some information about my favorite band:
LOVEBITES was formed in 2016 by original bassist Miho and drummer Haruna. Their first EP and album both were released in 2017. So far the band has already released 4 full length studio albums, 4 EPs, a best of compilation and a bunch of live albums, available on CD/DVD/Blu-ray.
In 2018 LOVEBITES won the Metal Hammer UK Golden Gods Award for best new band.
LOVEBITES have toured in Europe back in 2018/2019 and also recently in 2024. This also includes appearances at most European major metal festivals such as Wacken, Download, Bloodstock, Graspop, Resurrection Fest and Hellfest.
They also played their first US shows this year in September.
In 2021 the band went into a hiatus, because founder and bassist Miho quit the band for personal reasons. During the break also two babies were born. LOVEBITES came back in October 2022 with new bassist Fami and a few months later with new album „Judgement Day“. Their newest release is „LOVEBITES EP II“ with 5 amazing new songs.

Asami on vocals (the one and only voice):
She has an amazing vocal range and vibrato, writes most of the lyrics, also did parts of the song writing for their latest 2 albums, she is a former ballerina and RnB/soul singer
Miyako on guitars, piano, keyboards (the golden touch):
She is the musical brain of the band, main composer and arranger, a soulful but also shreddy guitar player and concert level pianist, furthermore she is a gear nerd
Midori on guitars (crazy shredder):
Incredibly fast and technical guitar player, has contributed to songwriting for a few of their songs, also she is a body fitness athlete
Haruna on drums (little big engine):
Plays very fast pace over long distances, she is very efficient and her stamina is admirable, the cymbal work is outstanding, she also wrote one of their songs including lyrics, creates handmade miniature fake food
Fami on bass since 2022 (shining fingers):
Absolute bass prodigy with outstanding technique, she speaks faster than sonic speed as she plays and smiles non-stop
Miho on bass until 2021 (natural born headbanger):
We will never forget her, she is a great bass player, she wrote several of the songs for the band’s albums 1-3

Just when you thought you had heard all the Japanese all-female rock & metal bands, KOIAI pops up from the left.... 4 girls who are extremely talented and mix genres, almost to the extreme. But it always works. Guitarists Hazuki (NEMOPHILA) & Li-sa-X, lead singer Kotono (ex-IRONBUNNY) and the super talented drummer Kanade Sato. They are as good live as in the studio. They don't have that many videos, but all of them are of high quality. So just pick one and enjoy.

There are few ( if any ) bands in the world who can do what they are capable of in a live show .
I've been listening to Metal since it began ( yes I'm that old ) and I can honestly say these ladies are the most insanely talented group of musicians to appear in a single band in the past 50 years - there is NO weak link .
Their versatility is , as you will hopefully discover , unmatched - thrash , speed , symphonic etc etc .
The 2 guitarists - Miyako and Midori are the best guitar duo on the planet ( neither started playing guitar until their very late teens and Miyako is self taught ! ) .
I'd suggest sticking to LIVE performances - TBH they're not that big on MVs but there are a ton of lives to choose from .

If you try to think or analyze their band, their songs, or the BPM of their music based on the traditional concept of a metal band, the more your past knowledge and experience increase, the more limited your understanding of LOVEBITES will become.
This heavy metal band continues to evolve.
They don't stick to one genre of metal music.
Sometimes it blends different metal music genres together, and sometimes it blends classical music.
They have a variety of genres of metal music that they think are good, and they have the skills to perform them live.
Sometimes their songs are on the border between metal and hard rock, and if they call it metal music, then to me it is metal music.
LOVEBITES was formed in 2016 by Miho(Ba) and Haruna(Dr), members of the band "DESTROSE", which went on hiatus in 2015.
The girls made their major label debut in 2017 (March 24) with "THE LOVEBITES EP".
On 11 June 2018, LOVEBITES won '🏆BEST NEW BAND' at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods 2018 awards organised by the British metal magazine METAL HAMMER.
On 4 August, LOVEBITES performed on the W.E.T stage at WACKEN OPEN AIR 2018, one of the world's largest annual metal festivals in Germany, with the 10,000 capacity venue almost full.
"Bloodstack open air 2018(Aug. 10)" also participated.
On August 20,2018, LOVEBITES announced that it has partnered with X-ray Touring, one of the largest players in the UK booking agent industry.
LOVEBITES toured the Netherlands, Germany, France and UK from November 13-21, 2018.
Asami (Vo) of LOVEBITES appeared as a guest on stage at Halestorm "Download Japan 2019(March 21)", singing alongside "Lzzy" Hale on Halestorm's "Love Bites (So Do!)", which gave the band their name.
LOVEBITES performed as a support band for "Arch Enemy's China tour at the Shanghai show on March 23 and the Beijing show on March 24, 2019".
LOVEBITES participated in "dowload Festival 2019(June 15)".
And Asami of LOVEBITES appeared as a guest on stage at Halestorm Download Festival UK 2019, singing alongside "Lzzy" Hale on Halestorm's "Love Bites (So Do!)" again after Japan.
LOVEBITES join DragonForce on UK tour 2019(Nov. 2-14).
On 2 December 2019, LOVEBITES was the support act for the Tokyo leg of Halestorm's Japan tour.

Believe it or not, this one is not even of my top 15 songs by them, even if the performence are fantastic. They are one of the best bands in the world right now and i have never heard a better guitarduo then M&M (Midori and Miyako). The hype is real, have fun.

Was lucky enough to see Lovebites twice in the space of two weeks in London. Both unbelievable shows. Some of the audience were in shock just how good it was simply as it was raw, unfiltered in small venues with just their amps, and the pa. They really can play any style of metal. Been going to concerts for 35 years+ and both shows are in my top 3

Good power metal always has something of the musical theater about it. Indeed, some early songs of Lovebites had a tad of Broadway or maybe soul influence, something that they no longer do as much, having become heavier and faster on average and more power metal. There's no video, but if you want to know what I mean, listen to "Inspire" off their first album Awakening From Abyss. In general, they started out with the intention of playing a cross-section of 80s' styles, and they were much influenced by Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and old thrash. They put their own spin on it, like the aforesaid soul influence on a few tracks, and came up with a mix of classic metal, power metal, a bit of hard rock (even some AOR), and thrash, but altogether modernized in sound, with very good songwriting and arrangements (the musical instruction in Japan showing), and with a lot of energy. Over the years, they have shed most of the soul (although Unchained, a new song, still has that Broadway feel) and taken on more power and speed, culminating in songs like Soldier Stands Solitarily ruclips.net/video/30yWisiRBuM/видео.html&ab_channel=LOVEBITES with, I'm gonna spoiler it now, 195 BPM.

Pick anything for next reaction, this isn’t atypical Lovebites but it has all the regular elements, amazing composition, technical ability, thundering drums, soaring vocals….maybe Swan Song with Chopin intro (I think 2020 concert), Frozen Serenade, Empty Daydream, Liar, Judgement Day and after a few reactions check-out We the United then Soldier Stands Solitarily….prepare to be mind-blown…..

Well, sir, even though it’s an MV, you just watched greatness. These beautiful Japanese women are extremely talented, skillful and versatile outstanding musicians. Their live performances are amazing. Their main influences are the great metal bands of the past but they have been developing their own and unique style. Asami used to sing R&B, soul and jazz before she joined the band. Miyako (black hair guitarist) is also a concert level classical pianist, trained since 3 years old. Miho (former bassist and founder of the band) once said that they wanted to play as heavy as men but keeping their femininity. They toured Europe in 2018-2019, and their presentation at Wacken Open Air, Germany, 2018, was a great success. If you want heavy stuff, I recommend “The hammer of wrath”, “Judgement day”, “We are the resurrection”, “MDO”, “Soldier stands solitarily”, “Set the world on fire”, “Thunder vengeance”, “Shadowmaker”, “Break the wall”, “Winds of Transylvania”. If you want softer: “Liar”, “Chopin etude + Swan song” (2020 version), “Edge of the world”, “Empty daydream”, “Epilogue”, “Spellbound”. All live. They have more than 60 songs.

Why does Lovebites sound different from other Japanese bands you've heard? Well because the genre with the characteristics of 80-90s Heavy metal like this is very rare especially outside Japan.
Nemophila is a Metal band (more like Modern Metal with screaming vocals), Band Maid is a Hard Rock band and Lovebites is definitely a Heavy/Classical/Speed/Power Metal band and they also play Trash Metal. The vocalist's voice (Asami) is clean and beautiful but powerful. Their Official Video is great but their Live is amazing. Thanks for your reactions.

Ah! I see now that this is the first Lovebites you have heard. Missed that, Thought I had seen you listening to another. But I checked. This is the first one. Personally I would not say this is a good one to start with. It is a very different one in many respects, and you might think they are religious. Also, here you have a strong backing track. Something they only use sometimes. But sure - you shall definitely look at something live. I have maybe one or three songs where I recommend the MV. Otherwise its live. I'm a fan of HEAVY METAL from the 80-90's and LOVEBITES hit me in my soul. Those ladies still my Hart. In the 2024 tour i was i Paris at "La Maroquinerie". It was the best show, i see in my life ( similar show was private concert of METALLICA in 1997 in Paris at l'Élysée Montmartre). Lovebites was on 🔥 ( no air conditioning or recycling system) it was in basement of old building. I was in front row. ASAMI the singer give me a fist bump. I choose to be in MIYAKO side ( she's my favourite guitarist).
The level of musicians in Japan is insane and the WOMENS are in the elite.
That must have been one a hell of an experience!

You didn't watch the MV to the end. LOVEBITES filmed this MV in the Christian Chapel of Yokogamma for a different reason. The opera has nothing to do with it. The song 'Glory to the World' was written at the height of the Covid-19 Pandemic, when many people were dying, when people were forced to adhere to various restrictions, etc. etc. The history of the creation of the song and what it is about, why the MV was filmed in the Chapel - this is a separate story. I can only give advice. Don't draw conclusions about the band based on one song. The discography of LOVEBITES includes songs of different metal genres - thrash metal, speed metal, progressive metal, power metal, neoclassical metal. LOVEBITES often mix several genres in their songs. There are songs with elements of symphonic metal, there are songs that sound closer to hard rock. There is classical music (piano).
You are right that LOVEBITES are different from other Japanese metal bands. Their music has its roots in the New Wave of British Heavy Metal of the 1980s and 1990s. For those who want to better understand LOVEBITES, I would advise checking out at least 10-15 songs of the band and, especially, paying attention to their thrash songs. Then there will be no association with opera. LOVEBITES is not EPICA, not NIGHTWISH, not Tarja Turunen, etc.

I enjoy your reactions. But what a pity you chose the music video Glory to the World for your first encounter with Lovebites. It's probably the video I least enjoy of all the ones Lovebites have on RUclips. I LOVE Lovebites (went to see them three times), but this song and this video really don't gel with me.
It will be the first of many reactions that I do of Lovebites so if the only was is up, I'll be a happy man.
