From a Japanese speaker, you are correct. I believe the best way to pronounce her name correctly is to think her name is pronounced psyche /sʌɪki/. Therefore, you are correct each character should be pronounced (Sa-i-ki). There is no stress on the "i".

It's funny you mention his guitar playing because I think he doesn't consider himself a great player, which is part of the reason he had the 5 string guitar made so he could use alternate tunings that simplify creating the chords in his head. In this song, his playing is definitely imperfect, but perfect for the feeling of the song.

I've always loved this song, but that's expected with Band-Maid. There's what IMO is an even better acoustic version that they performed at their 10th Anniversary tour finale at Yokohama Arena. Saiki's voice was good back in 2018 when the Zepp Tokyo concert was recorded, but it's absolutely peerless in more recent years. You can find that one on RUclips, but like the one you used, it's not their official channel. The entire concert is available on Blu-ray/DVD .

Not every character in Japanese has to be its own syllable. You're right in that SAIKI is using 3 characters, but the I is a vowel sound so it modifies the previous vowel and changes the sound of it when said quickly. SA is "sah", I is "eee", so essentially you have "sah-eee" when said quickly, sounds like "Sigh". Similarly, when you have an E in Japanese followed by an I, the E sounds like "eh" and with the I, it becomes "eh-eee" which sounds like how we say the letter 'A' (ay). The name Keiko would be "KAY-KO" and not "keh-eee-ko". Also note the way Japanese people say it they are more cognitive of the sounds and not as flat as we would say it. That being said, I have heard people pronounce the distinct letters individually for emphasis or effect, but in general, it is treated as a combined sound. Saiki's nickname is SAI-chan, and the members say SAI as one syllable.

And then a 15 year old Pau, conjures this masterpiece of a metaphorical verse "Needles piercing through my brain Slowly inflicting the pain I'm plucking roses but keeping the thorns!" Numerous poets in literature have cautioned us about the dangers of thorns in a bush of roses. But seldom has a poet preferred to keep the thorns as a prickly reminder of her misery, as she descends into a maniacal pit of dark desperation. To drive home her lunatic despair, Pau goes into a machine gun like double bass drumming at 6:40 of the original clip, in a final frenzy with Dany & Ale. Nice reaction. I like both versions but the acoustic is slightly more favourite for me. What swings it for the acoustic version is the addition of Kanami's harmonising/backing vocals, her voice is just so dam sweet and angelic. Always bring a lump into my throat and pricke of tears in my eyes.

The Maids pull-of all their mid tempos such as, Bestie, Daydreaming, The One, About Us, Memorable, Anemone, Endless Story, PAGE, Wonderland, Awkward, Start Over, Mirage, At the Drop of a Hat and Smile, better than nearly all other rock bands. Band-Maid mid-tempo songs are beautiful sonic experiences, classy, and brilliantly written, and performed. These songs like Anemone and Page, etc. should be taken as they are, and not be downgraded because they lack heaviness or fast tempos, etc... imo! Thx, V-Bud!

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong on this, but I "THINK" there are 2 other versions of this song. The Band-Maiko Ansan, and a semi acoustic, with Akane on a cajon, MISA on her bass, but Miku and Kanami both on acoustic guitars. I know the Band-Maiko one is correct, but I'm not sure about the semi-acoustic one. I might be getting it confused with another song, possibly Smile. And Saiki is a Contralto/Alto, but since her vocal surgery she has been expanding her vocal range with training. My understanding it she has just about a 2.5 octave range, if not a little over, while Miku is just under or right at 3 octaves in range as a Mezzo-soprano.

You have the right idea about pronouncing Saiki, but you don’t have to artificially separate syllables (technically moras) just because they’re different characters. Usually, there’s a consonant between vowels, but when there isn’t, you can just flow them together without inserting a stop. e.g. Au (to meet) sounds like “Ow”.
