As a young kid in the 90s, I went into one of the old FuncoLand videogame stores and asked the employee which mega man he thought I should buy. I remember the gigantic wall of NES games in there..so beautiful. I already had MM2 and MM6 so he recommended 3. Went home with that and Kirby's Adventure that day and couldn't stop playing both for months. MM3 is definitely my favorite.
i went to Funcoland once as a kid and asked for Ninja Turtles Tournament Fighter for Sega (I previously owned it, but at some point it disappeared from my house) and the employee said that they didn't have it and alot of people had been asking for it lately
My childhood in a plastic cartridge....soda pop. sour cream and onion chips...and countless hours playing all the original megamans, ninja gaiden,, tmnt arcade (for nes), punchout, legend of kage...on and on and on
My favorite is 1....condensed level design and the way they mixed the robot masters up at the end of Wilys fortress was never replicated in the series and it was unexpected and fun to see Cutman and Elecman pop out of nowhere
I agree, the MM2 OST is definitely overrated. My favorite OG MegaMan OST has to be MM4 with the Title theme being my absolute favorite and I really enjoy the Sega Genesis/MD Wiley Wars version of MM3 ,it just gives it a bit of punch
Unfortunately for whatever reason (my dad was an early gamer even before I was born in 1989') we never owned any Castlevania games or like any Zelda games until the N64 but I was lucky enough to have Little Nemo in Dream Land (Because I was a huge fan of the animated movie that came out the same year I was born) and I have the TMNT Arcade game still have both of those cartridges the original ones I grew up playing on and my Nes console aswell!!
Man, my best friend growing up was an absolute master of MM games. No joke, we were 5 when this released and he would just dominate it. Always telling me about the unlocked weapons at school and then we'd play it at his house afterwards. Such great memories, so crazy to think that we were 5. He's actually a DJ now and goes by E-Tank, ha.
Mega Man 2 was always my favorite. But recently MM5 has been. It's such a smooth flowing game. But all MM games on NES are absolutely top notch. MM3 is stellar, and has some of my favorite music tracks! I own all of them except 6. Haven't been able to procure a copy, and I don't buy games online. So the waiting continues...
It's so relaxing watching you play games, and the Mega Man series was always my favorite Considering all the insane stuff going down in the world, and America in particular, we need this
The issue with Top Spin is people try to use it like the Screw Attack and run through enemies. What you're supposed to do is hit them with the edge of the spin and sort of bounce off of them. You can one shot a lot of enemies if you use it right.
It's a great game, my friend got mad at me because he said I buy too many nes and snes games, he said I have enough games but I only got 12 nes games and 20 snes games
YES! Mega Man 3 is my JAM! I think my personal best for clearing it was just under an hour and ten minutes. Not exactly speed running, but I've gotten through it without dying loads of times. It's the one I'm best at, which I wear as a badge of honor because people are always saying how hard this game is. I found always found MM1 and 2 to be harder, though.
581 41:38 My horse prince reference. Funny that episode just came out, I was sharing the James and Mike monday of it with other fans who didn't know you guys played it.
Boss "rush." Wakka wakka! :) I love watching these. It's just like when I played these games with my mates when they were new, talking about whatever we wanted and just enjoying life.
The best weapon select screen in the whole series. Does anyone know you can press *B* to _instantly switch pages_ in the weapon select screen in MM3? No one I see playing this game ever does that. You can confirm a weapon or item with the A button, as well as the START button. Another improvement. The Up and Down directions wrap around like the items on each page are in 1 column of 6. For example, press Up once on SN to go directly to RJ. You can get from the default weapon (P) to RJ (the furthest item to reach in the weapon select screen) in 5 quick presses: START, B, Right, Up, A. It's faster to get back: START, B, Right, A.
If you like shooters like gradius you should check out a game called "einhander" its for psx and was made by square its really good and dystopian future. You dont power up moreso as take the weapons from downed enemies. Over the top bosses.
But so damn expensive! My local classic game shop has a copy of Einhander, disc only, for over a hundred bucks. I could never justify that. And I want to play it so bad.. but no.. not for that insane price!
Holy shit that makes me feel old :( lol when Mike said he's already 55yrs old I almost thought he was bullshitting I figured he was probably in like his mid 40's maybe I guess I still get shocked realizing time is flying Soo damn fast and we're all getting older wayy too fast!! and I could say the same thing for my 8yr old daughter it's unreal how much she's grown in the past few years it's unreal
Mike is 40 or 41, still looks young must be because he is happy and living a good stress free life getting to play games for a living and entertaining us along the way.
Ah new video, sweet! Your older vids have kept me entertained countless nights and no I'm not even a cat! 😉 Loved Mega Man growing up and I think I remember 3 the best so this should be fun, wish I had caught it live! Been meaning to drop in on a live stream but always get sidetracked as I'm prone to do but these streams help keep me centered so I'll be seeing you soon, hopefully you all won't find be too annoying cuz I tend to babble as you can see here.. You'll know me when you see me! ☺
there was something special about having to replay the remixed stages and fight the bosses from Mega Man 2 in this game - something that was only in this game for some reason. It added a bit of replay value and fun and was better than how the next 3 games in the series just made you grind through a "fake" fortress before the Wily fortress
One thing that I thought was really cool about the Doc stages was how the MM2 bosses actually matched their respective Doc stages quite well, like for example Metal Man appears on Spark Man's stage with the cogwheels and machinery, Flash Man appears on Gemini Man's flashing blinking stage, Heat Man appears on Shadow Man's stage with the lava-like streams, Air Man appears on Needle Man's high-altitude stage with the Rush Jet part, and so on. Of course, Capcom most likely designed those stages specifically so that they would be able to match them with the MM2 bosses like that, but it was still a great touch.
That’s a really coolarticle about game design In Nintendo power. Amazing we went from colecovision and NES black box games to SMB which actually didn’t use any new chips afaik.
First Megaman game I ever played all the way through. I'll enjoy replaying some of the game's from the Legacy collection on Steam when my new PC is set up. Here's to more processing power.
I find the Mega Man games to be unforgiving. Fun, but, man! Three lives to start off with, which sounds good initially, until you realize how many enemies you encounter in a short span and the formation they come at you to prevent no easy ways out.
Megaman 3 is the best Megaman ever made. It's better than 2 in the following ways: improved controls, Megaman can now move on a dime, stop on a dime, the controls were perfected in this entry and never got better. Rush was introduced, giving personality to the sub weapons, Protoman is introduced with his unforgetable theme, my favorite MM character, the slide is introduced, 4 special stages that are harder and let you fight all the robots from MM2, IMO OPINION, the best music, and so long as you don't cheat, it's plenty challenging, and the graphics are clearly on a higher level than 1 and 2, with a larger cart, more detailed stages, and balanced sub weapons (MM2's are too overpowered, Shadow Blade was a nice compromise/balance to the OP Metal Blade... It's superior to 2 in every way, deserves the top spot for the classic series.
Awesome nice comparison. I just bought this today and was getting a feeling I wished it had been 2 just based of past stuff I read but I was wrong also I couldn't remember which one slide got introduced, glad I picked up MM3. The first MM in my NES collection
I've completed the Zelda 2 Sword level One challenge. Thunderbird is very difficult. Takes almost 100 hits to kill. Shadow Link always dies in eight hits though no matter what your strength is. Life level one is also very challenging.
In Japan he's called Rock Man. That's why there's that girl named Roll so... Rock and Roll. In USA doesn't make sense as Mega Man and Roll. Some robots where created because of some Rock bands.
I had super mario 2 on game boy advanced. Played the crap out of it. It was called Super Mario Advanced. It also had the mario bros arcade style game. Super mario world on gba was called Super Mario Advanced 2.
That Snake Man level music definitely reminds me of another song off another Nes game but for the life of me I can't think of what that song reminds me of from what other game? Maybe a Zelda song off one of the games but I'm not positive
Good question. I appreciate it. I know Zelda 1 and 2 inside out. I feel like I could do that pretty easily. TMNT on nes, the first game I also know extremely well. Probably one of those.
Some people say 2 is the best, I say 3 is the best. Music is just as great and maybe a tad better although 2 has the most iconic track but 3 added the slide, rush and proto man. Did have some slowdown though, can't argue against that.
Hello mike! do you know about the trick of freezing the game? that's like pressing up + b on the second controller. Surely you know about it, but what you maybe don"t know is that you can use it in the ending too, and this is the only possible way to hear the entire proto man theme, which is a secret. I remember hearing it for the first time and it was awesome.
As a young kid in the 90s, I went into one of the old FuncoLand videogame stores and asked the employee which mega man he thought I should buy. I remember the gigantic wall of NES games in there..so beautiful. I already had MM2 and MM6 so he recommended 3. All the Mega Man Nes games were excellent
My childhood in a plastic cartridge....soda pop. sour cream and onion chips...and countless hours playing all the original megamans, ninja gaiden,, tmnt arcade (for nes), punchout, legend of kage...on and on and on
This was always my favorite Mega Man on the NES.
Me too, I always felt like the difficulty level was perfect. Lots of catchy tunes too.
For me MM2 and MM3 are back to back masterpieces.
2, 3, 4 are all phenomenal games. I like to ignore the others and think of it as a trilogy lol
My favorite is 1....condensed level design and the way they mixed the robot masters up at the end of Wilys fortress was never replicated in the series and it was unexpected and fun to see Cutman and Elecman pop out of nowhere
@drako * all but 5
The title screen music is SO good
BrentalFloss has a “what if this song had lyrics” for this one that will stick in your head like mad, lol
Agreed! Everyone is always on Megaman 2's nuts but I prefer Megaman 3 soundtrack better all around. Megaman 2 Willy's soundtrack kicks ass of course.
People always talk about how good MM2 music is. I think MM3's music is even better.
Mega man 3 has the best music in a mega man game period in my opinion
I agree
While I like MM2 more I have to say Sparkmans music is my favorite for 3!
@@grahamtastic83 that is a good song!
I agree, the MM2 OST is definitely overrated. My favorite OG MegaMan OST has to be MM4 with the Title theme being my absolute favorite and I really enjoy the Sega Genesis/MD Wiley Wars version of MM3 ,it just gives it a bit of punch
Probably haven't played this in 15/20 years, but that title music takes me right back. The definitive Mega Man for me.
My new meditation state is watching mike play megaman games or any game tbh. Thanks for the videos, great way to unwind after work.
15:09 is where he finally does his gadget impression. The main reason I know most people watch these streams.
got this for xmas 1990 w castlevania 3, tmnt the arcade game and little nemo; legendary!!!
Best Christmas ever!
Nice, I bet your thumbs were worn out, lol
Unfortunately for whatever reason (my dad was an early gamer even before I was born in 1989') we never owned any Castlevania games or like any Zelda games until the N64 but I was lucky enough to have Little Nemo in Dream Land (Because I was a huge fan of the animated movie that came out the same year I was born) and I have the TMNT Arcade game still have both of those cartridges the original ones I grew up playing on and my Nes console aswell!!
Little nemo!!!
Damn that's a lot of games at once, esp since they were still 50$ back then (or like $90 in today money)
Can we step back for a second and acknowledge how good the fucking music is in this game?
As a kid i used to think of Mega Man games as music albums of sorts and i loved all the ones on Nes
Whoever has the handle What Would Faxanadu is a goddamn legend and I salute you.
Mega Man 2 is still the best
I agree. NES Monopoly is the best way to play Monopoly.

Thanks Matei. I finish almost every Nes game with your videos beside the main monitor. Especially with Mega Man series.
