This is Thomas, the boy who recited in this video 5 years ago. Thank you to everyone for your comments! They have been an encouragement to me. I am still competing in the National Bible Bee Competition, and I've now memorized over 5,000 Bible verses from memory. I know this might sound impossible to some people, but it can be done. Start with just a little bit at a time and build off that. I have been so blessed through the National Bible Bee and I would encourage all of you or your kids to participate. God's Word will never become void, and I have had a wonderful life because of memorizing God's Word. It is definitely worth it to add a little bit of time to your day to study and memorize Scripture. Memorizing the Bible has changed me, and I hope it will change you too!
Praise Jesus!! May he build up these youth and their leaders and strong relationships with eachother and him. Praying for this comment community as well.
God Bless The Pioneers of such a Program it's bringing back our children back to the Word of God and taken them away from the numerous distractions in our Generation
@Nick Gagnon God was not for slavery.....in fact it was the people of Israel (God's People of the Old Testament) who were the Slaves of Egypt, & it was God who told people to let their slaves go free, or if you had a slave you were to never mistreat them, & Christ said we were all equal in the eyes of God 'there was no difference between men & women, Slave or the Free, or the different nationalities....in the Kingdom of God we are all the same, with the same value & potential in His eyes, Like the Angels :)
@Nick Gagnon Exodus 21:20 20 “Anyone who beats their male or female slave with a rod must be punished if the slave dies as a direct result"........This together with other verses about 'NOT MISTREATING A SLAVE', was due to the fact that people had slaves back then, but it was God's will for them to be set free~! Eg. Jubilee (All slaves were to be set free). For just because people did have slaves, does NOT mean it was God's idea to start with~!
@Nick Gagnon Back in the days, slaves weren't captured from their houses and stuff, but they were slaves to pay off debts and other things. If the Bible was taught like this throughout, we may have never had slavery if the masters were true Christians loving rather than hating and being racist.
@Nick Gagnon It's like how you can beat your children as a form of discipline. It's not beating them and leaving scars on their backs and stuff. Also in the Bible times, it was their custom, people were fine with being slaves. When it would occur that the Israelite people were forced to be slaves by other kings who had possession of their land and stuff, God would always deliver them from it, so that's another point you can explore.
"Zachary Taylor' You can do so if you want but you would be wasting your time pretending that it makes the slightest bit of difference. Put your energies instead into doing things that are helpful. Pick up garbage on the street. Don't throw garbage on the street. Help vagrants and homeless people find a job. Rescue cats off of trees. Volunteer in hospitals . At least don't tell other people a lie that learning to recite everything in the Bible will solve anything.
That’s so amazing, praise God Thomas for inspiring us. I pray that these living Words hidden in your heart will be blessings to you and the world around you. God make us doer of Your words not merely listeners.
When you dedicate time to GOD when you memorize the scriptures the presence of the Lord is felt.parents who are set from the birth of your child to provide the very best, ist GOD THE VERY BEST?

@@johnthr33 Knowing every word in the bible has nothing to do with "Salvation" or "Spirituality" or "Believing in 'God'' " or proving that you believe in god. It is all outward and superficial. People teach their kids to be fanatical and indoctrinated but no one can make a person actually believe in God, only pretend to. Others cannot lead you to "God." No preacher, no guru, no minister. no monk, no-body. It has to come from within. No one cam make you NOT believe in "God" if you really do believe in "God." No one can make you believe in "God" if you don't. If someone points a gun at you and tells you to believe in "God" you might say you do to avoid the horrific situation. If some bible-thumping fanatic follows you telling you to believe in "God" and "repent" you might say to him or her that you believe and that you repent to get that pest off your back, but in your heart you cannot and do not believe in what the pest fanatic is trying to make you believe. Alternately if someone points a gun at you or follows you telling you to say you don't believe in any "God" you might say you don't believe just to avoid a pest or avoid getting killed. Of course some people might want to prove they are martyrs and get killed or argue with someone who thinks differently. It does not matter either way. You have to feel the presence of a "God" yourself. You cannot be taught to. Culture can only make it a ritual and a routine, not genuine. You cannot "teach" someone else to "feel the presence of 'God'. " You cannot "lead" anyone else to "God." It is very selective and individualistic and exclusive. It is common for "religious people" to "spread the word" and "spread the faith" etc etc etc. They are not really doing it, only teaching empty practices. Real believers in "God" keep it to themselves because they know that they themselves cannot create the inherency in others.
@@obscurelyvague You are 100% allowed to believe that. Everyone has their own opinions - and that's ok! But I have to say that I disagree. And I know I probably wont change your mind but I still want to put this out there. First, we are told several times in the Bible to spread the word (my favorite being Matthew 28:19-20 in which Jesus says: "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” -NIV ). I consider myself a Christian/a believer of God, I've accepted Christ into my heart, repented for my sins, and strive to be more Christ-like. Yet here I am, trying to spread my beliefs to you - not keeping them to myself. And while I do agree that you cant force someone to really, truly, believe in something, how is anyone going to come to Christ if they never hear of Him, or at least have enough interest to convert? On top of that, Bible Bee has changed so many lives. Including one of my very close friends. She's learned so much scripture and how to apply it to her life. This very same friend is also one of the most Godly people I know. So, while you cant force religion, you can help start a flame of a soon growing fire of it in someones heart. and that person you preached to can have a real, genuine relationship with God. If people didn't find Christianity to be real, there wouldn't be so many, or possibly any, Christians. Thank you for taking the time to consider this, and have a good day.
Actually American Standard version is considered most accurate for word for word. Then there are thought for thought translations that are translated in a way that when we read it now we will have the same understanding as if you read it when it was first written like in NIV which could be more accurate as well
Sorry. You’re just wrong. It’s not about word for word or thought for thought. It’s about the original source material. Look it up. I didn’t always hold to that position.

Wow 😳😳😳
Which Bible print and version do they quote?
There are five versions which contestants can choose from: New King James Version, King James Version, English Standard Version, New American Standard Bible, or New International Version. 🙂
Are they memorising complete books ?
It's not required (so far), but some contestants do. 🙂
It is not required but basically everyone who makes it to the finals has memorized complete books.
