      yup I remember in around august/september to november the media were all fear mongering giving front page headlines to 'experts' saying that we may never have a vaccine or it will take years and years while I knew from John's level-headed coverage how the vaccine trials were progressing smoothly and that we'd have them by december. I wish more people would follow this channel and get some facts instead of giving into fear and ignorance!

    Hi Dr John, and thank you for the updates. This far I have only one thing I had to disagree on. When it comes to agriculture, please do not think it is as simple as reducing animal, and animal contacts. We need animals to keep the soil happy, ( and us) They are part of the ecological system. To be able to eat good nutritional veggies we need good soil. Animals must be treated well since we are all in a symbiosis. Wild animals are wild and need their habitats. If we as humans could treat other living beings with respect - we would not have this problems. Stressed animals get sick, healthy animals is no risk whatsoever. A big hug to you for keeping us sound together with my animals.

    • @sandyb1184
      @sandyb1184 3 года назад +5

      Eating animals is unsustainable and animal agriculture makes people a lot of money for exploiting and killing animals. Where money is involved, ethical treatment will not exist. Factory farming is the result and it is a blight on humanity and has led to zoonotic viral infections. With the high demand for meat, factory farms are the only way to meet that demand. Factory farming causes great environmental damage as well as contributing to climate change. It is cruel, heartless, and unethical. It is bad for your health. Plant based diets are better for your health, better for the environment, better for the climate, and if you care at all about the animals of the planet, other than your precious dog or cat, you would realize that it is the only way to eat that is not unspeakably horrendous. Dr. Campbell is presenting the science as always, which confirms the many, many benefits of adopting a mainly plant based diet.

      @@markusmaximus6636 Few people do develop antibodies but most people do not. Many get sick and get hospilized. The vaccine will give you antibodies though. If more people get antibodies from the vaccine it will reduce spread of the disease, and the hospitals will be less crowded. @@randomperson-de1rs lies. This is like all other coronaviruses. Once you’ve had it you are immune until it mutates and you get the next seasonal variants. There are 1000s of coronaviruses in circulation including the common cold. If you are fit and healthy you don’t even get sick. Same as influenza.
      “This virus is a serious threat to a low proportion of the elderly, especially if they are already ill. This description of the most vulnerable accounts for the vast majority of Covid deaths and the median age of those who’ve died of COVID-19 is slightly older than the median age of those who died of all other causes. However, the majority even of this elderly group survive infection. Overall, the lethality of the virus is now known to be very close to typical seasonal influenza. Notably, in relation to risks to the working population, the lethality of the virus in those aged 60 and younger is actually less than seasonal flu.” Dr Mike Yeadon over 35 years experience in drug development for respiratory conditions.

    Based on the group that received the vaccine, it was found to be very effective. After two injections, the average effectiveness is 91.6 percent. In people aged 60 and older, the effectiveness was 91.8 percent. Also striking: after the first dose of the drug, the effectiveness already appears to be 73.6 percent. These results would be better than those of AstraZeneca and the Dutch pharmaceutical company Janssen.

If the data is only for 18-55 years olds, and its generally people OVER 60 who are most likely to be hospitalised, it doesnt really answer the question about its efficacy for the main group who are likely to end up in hospital (ie, people over 55)

    In Germany, the 12 weeks interval is officially recommended for the AZ vaccine by the Permanent Vaccination Committee, againsz 4 to 6 weeks for Moderna and Pfizer (Ständige Impfkommission, Bulletin 29th January 2021).

      More people, single dose, will be more effective than few people, double dose.
      Same principle as masks..... Your vaccine protects me, mine protects you.

      @@rogerstarkey5390 This is why I hope the AZ vaccine will someday be widely available in the US. It's being manufactured here already, but it's probably all slated for the export market.

    Why you don’t talk about Spotnik vaccine.
    Scientists must be impartial, neutral.
    Recently it has been confirmed 92% efficacy. This is a good and great new. I expected you would mention.

    U.K. government daily briefing is depressing and grim. I’m just listening to this guy now, thanks for your work on this 👍🏻

      I don’t think I’ve watched any of those press briefings from Johnson. Not since his first one where he told us all to grin and bear it, and to accept that we will lose loved ones. My strategy was to ignore the government and lockdown from February 2020.

      I like the daily briefings, generally very informative - but the journalist's questions are usually pretty pathetic, if they watched this channel they'd probably be less ignorant.
      I'll always remember Dr. van Tamm's sage advice not to get too carried away with lockdown easing - 'don't rip the pants off it'. A choice of phrase that spoke to us all I think.
