Talk about odd, great job covering this team. Also Dale Earnhardt and Jimmy Spencer? Osterlund loved his aggressive drivers now don't he?

Good on Osterlund for winning the Rookie of the Year and the Championship with Earnhardt, but I really don’t see that as being enough for a Hall of Fame induction.

Great rise and fall here, loved that it was an older team. You know, that Blue Max team that you mention in your Rusty Wallace video has an interesting NASCAR tale. It all started in NHRA Funny Car. That might be an interesting rise and fall. By the way, Kenny Bernstein, a NHRA FC & TF great, at one time owned a NASCAR team.

Just in case people didn't know, Dale Earnhardt missed those 4 races bc he broke both collar bones in a wreck at Pocono. That's what side lined him for 4 races.

It shows how good Dale was by making the best of a mid pack team and making it the best it was ever going to be. Only reason Osterlund ever gets hall of fame considerations is because of Dale Sr getting rookie of the year and a championship

I remember when Rod wanted to get into cup racing. On Byrd Ave in San Jose Ca the Pepsi 54 car was shipped in , That was the Lennie Pond super speed way car, The second car was delivered on a Chevy Chassie body trunk lid doors and that was it, NASCAR had it's own chasse which was standing on the wall' The Kenworth K100 was to tall for the shop so somebody cut the exhaust stack off to fit in the shop, The car was original paint of the car was done by a guy named Marco Flores. He was the same guy who painted my motorcycle. I have mor to say but that's it for now

Osterlund? HOF material? I really don't see it. If he had some consistency in time in NASCAR I could see it happening but nah he never stuck around long enough, but personally I liked the fact that you included the short time David Pearson drove the #2 Chevy and made light of the fact that David got his last cup win driving for Dale Earnhardt.

Dale finished -1081 point back from Petty in the championship in 1979. Even if Dale had ran every race in the 79' season there was no way he was catching Petty. Still one hell of a season for Earnhardt as he got his first win as a Cup driver and won rookie of the year.

  • @gparrow

It would have been mathematically impossible for Earnhardt to win the '79' championship, he ended the season about 1000 points behind Petty, since a race win was only worth 180 points even if he won all four races he missed he still would have lost by over two hundred points.
