In this scene, Charlie Sheen's character is called "boy in police station" on the script, and he is essentially extremely intoxicated and messed up on all sorts of drugs. In order to prepare for this very MINOR role, Charlie Sheen stayed up for 48 hours straight in order to make himself look like a sloppy mess, and 'wasted'. If he did that much preparation for this tiny role, we can only imagine how much preparation he did for his role in Two and a Half Men.

But at the same time, it really is unfair that Ferris has the world wrapped around his finger and she doesn’t. If you had a brother like that, wouldn’t you also be jealous and pissed?
Yeah. It's sort of like Josh and drake. drake is the lazy selfish happy go lucky slacker who doesn't do anything no type of work at all. A talented guitar player but still a lazy good for nothing slacker who dates a girl than dumps a girl who has the world wrapped around his finger who attends school but is the worst student fails every class and gets poor grades. I think Jeanie is right to feel the way she does. But I lean more on Charlie Sheen's side of the argument. Some people are just born lucky and some people have to try hard. I think if Jeanie spent more time on herself, she could feel proud that she achieved some success through her own actions rather than just coasting like Ferris.
As someone who works night shifts, I have a hard time believing Charlie Sheen could stay awake for 48 hours and manage to shoot this scene without forgetting most of his dialogue or passing out mid-take. Undead Nightorc I always liked that line from Dirty Dancing, still do. Because Johnny(late Patrick Swayze)wasn't the one behind Penny's pregnancy; ROBBY(Baby's sister Lisa's boyfriend)was, as it had just turned out. To me, that scene is like a "jigsaw puzzle with at least one part missing," I mean, yes, Dr. Houseman had just learned it for himself, that Robby was the one who got Penny knocked up, and not Johnny, yet, right at that moment, as Johnny comes in, says what he does to Baby's parents, and with that, takes her up to the stage, we see her father start to get up and her mother stop him, as if he is still kind of confused, and doesn't know what to believe, or think of Johnny, in spite of what he has just found out about Robby.
coastiegirl469 He sure does talk like he's some kind of "mental health expert," like a psychiatrist, or even a psychologist. We can certainly understand Jeanie's being pissed at her brother, for managing to get off scot free with his "sly fox ninja"pranks, including having a history of playing hooky, by posing as ill.
This bit role is Charlie Sheens absolute best performance. It is expertly acted, his look is perfect, gestures are detailed, and timing is impeccable. I wish Charlie could have kept clean because he had tremendous talent and could have been one of the greatest actors of both comedy and drama of his generation. I hate to see him resort to the same lame jokes in poorly written TV shows like Two and a Half Men and Anger Management.
I think it's interesting that the character, Charlie's, had a whole backstory made up. The house the mom was trying to sell was for his parents since they were moving to the neighborhood, his father has a towing business, the one that towed Ed Rooney's car, and I'm sure alot of other things. Pretty neat.
There's also a deleted scene where Ferris turns to the camera and explains that part of his motivation for helping Cameron is because of another friend named Garth Volbeck, from a disadvantaged background. For Ferris, Garth is a cautionary tale about isolation, family troubles, and drug addiction, things that Ferris is trying (in his own childish way) to keep Cameron from falling into. The twist is that Garth's little speech to Jeanie is hinted at coming from the "wisdom" he learned from Ferris, a speech that almost entirely changes her attitude towards Ferris and shifts her motivation from punishing her brother to saving him from (the now-sadistic) Rooney. In this form, it was all being foreshadowed that Ferris's (immature) generosity comes back to save him at the end.
Just wanna remind you that this movie and Platoon came out the same year. Charlie Sheen has a minor role here and lead role in Stone's movie. Nailed both of them
Fun Fact: Although his character isn't named ("Boy in police station), at one point in the original script, HE DID. "Garth Volbeck." It was intended for him to have a fully formed character with a backstory, and connection to our lead. He was meant to be an old best friend of Bueller back in middle school, who tried to help the product of a banner year at the old Bender family.
