I have the Vivitar/Soligor version of this lens with close focusing at all focal lengths and I always thought it looked like a cinema style lens as is. But your 3D printed housing for this lens is next level! I think it looks fantastic great job!
Wow! So impressive. I never thought I’d something go from metal to plastic and yet look so fantastic! 🤓 Don’t tell me the grub screw holes came out of the printer threaded! I think it’s time I bought a 3D printer! Thank you for the inspirational video. 🙏
Congratulations on your work. Inspiring to see every project you do. I would love to see the Meike 25mm F1.8 lens design. Lens sold with excellent cost benefit on Aliexpress.
The design and the ergonomics look fantastic. Do you think it could works with a K&F's or Fotodiox FD to EOS adapter ? And for my personal use (I would try on Beastgrip DOF mk II + iPhone), if I don't have a 3D printer at home, will you allow a professional printer to print me 1 copy please? Thank you and congratulations on your ingenuity and thank you to sharing all this work.
I have several of these lenses, and I wanted to build a more robust housing for them, I would love this cut from coloured aircraft aluminum and stainless! can this be done?
It was modeled considering making it with 3D printing using filaments made of PLA or ABS material. So, if you use a metal material such as aluminum, wouldn't it be too heavy? If it is made of metal, it must be redesigned to be thin and light to reflect the weight and strength of the metal.
Wow super cool. To make the lens line complete. Maybe the tokina at-x pro 20-35 would be a nice addition. Specially for the m4/3 users. That lens is awesome
By any chance, do you think it is possible that you may do this for the Minolta MD Rokkor 50mm f1.4? It's a cheaper lens which competes with the cannon FD and Nikon 50mm's which you have already done. These rehousings are beautiful!
Thank you for your comment. Unfortunately I don't have a Minolta MD Rokkor 50mm lens so I can't do what you asked for. My hobby is video shooting, I am not used to buying and selling lenses, and I am not very fond of buying and selling. And since I am doing this work as another hobby, it is also a pity that I do not have enough time and money to meet all requests. (Moreover, I think I have more lenses than I need for my hobby. The upgraded housing makes it bulky and harder to store.) Seeking understanding. :)
Thank you! I love the sturdy fixation of the FD mount, so I use several types of FD adapters. The FD adapter used in this video is K&F's FD-E adapter (old version). Since it is often used with MetaBones adapter, it has been slightly modified to have Alca Swiss standard lower feet of the same standard as Metabones adapter for interchangeability of the accessories to be mounted. :)
i have this lens but its under the brand-name ASANUMA. its construction and how it focuses looks pretty much identical to this tokina. I'm gonna try out this print!! edit: I came across your content from @FoxTailWhips !!
Zoom lens designs in the early and mid 70s are quite different from current zoom lens designs. There are two focus rings, the front focus ring from infinity to 1.5m, and the other for close focusing. (Actually, it is a very inconvenient method because you have to selectively manipulate two different focus rings depending on the focus section. I think it is because of the low level of technology in the multi-group zoom lens design technology at the time) And although it is referred to as a macro, it is generally It is different from a dedicated macro lens. As it is a zoom lens with a simple macro function, the magnification is not very high, so it is not enough to call it a macro. Macro focusing is possible by operating the second focus ring from the front.
@@MountainBreezeStudio Thank you for that detailed answer. I now have less doubts about purchasing this (model/ design) lens. Follow up question: does the close focusing function of this lens work at any focal length? I own the mark 1 of this lens and close focusing is only possible at 35mm.
There is a clear difference in the close focus function as the focal length changes. At the 35mm focal length, I can take close focus to about 0.4m, but at the 105mm, the shortest shooting distance is only about 1m. :)
This is so cool! Thanks for sharing your work with us! I have the exact same lens and I was wondering if I can buy your 3d printing designs for this lens anywhere. I would get your design and go print it somewhere. That would be so awesome! Anyway... big up for what you do!
Sorry, I lack attention, that's for sure. :)) I got the files from the description. Thanks for sourcing your work and sharing! I'll be back with a donation for sure. I'm purely happy now!
Impressive work! However, I've just purchased the exact same lens, I thought it looked as something more than a ordinary third party zoom lens, and I'm going to try it for stills on analog and digital. But is it really so good that it's worth all that effort?
Woops! Sorry for the late reply. Please refer to the Takumar Lenses housing upgrade video in the channel list. It's just a hobby, so I'm sorry I can't provide any service.

Hard to find value in effort. I just decorated it because I was bored. :)
May I know ur lens mount “FD mount “ is same as nikon AI mount Verizon ?
Hello! Is it possible to use for pl mount?
Hi! I'd like my Takumar lenses to have cinemods like that?
How can I avail your services?
Woops! Sorry for the late reply. Please refer to the Takumar Lenses housing upgrade video in the channel list. It's just a hobby, so I'm sorry I can't provide any service.

Please refer to the email address for the channel :)
Would this work on the nikon f mount version?
Sorry, I don't have a Nikon F mount version of the lens, so I'm not sure.
안녕하세요 마운트는 fd 아닌 다른마운트로 해도 괜찮을까요?
반갑습니다. FD 마운트 이외의 다른 마운트 렌즈를 사용해 본 적이 없어서 잘 모르겠습니다.
what is your instagram?
I have an account, but I don't use Instagram well, so it's just neglected.
Lens Porn of highest depravity .. Go on.. you know you want it !
