I can recall him telling me about Panzerschokolade one day while we were on a long car ride, when I was a kid. Told me how it would keep them awake for days. I'm a recovering addict I started using various drugs at the age of 13. I'm 40 now back when I started it was the golden age of oxycontin. That's was my drug of choice, generally the 80's I'd suck the coating off and crush them up and snort them. I also would do any kind of decently strong pain pill. Loved to top it off with cocaine. I've done acid, ketamine, shrooms, countless ecstasy, heroin, opium, amphetamines like Adderall, valium, Soma's, Wich is a muscle relaxer and other things I'm can't think of at the moment. Meth is one drug I didn't like. I've done it twice, the second time I was withdrawing from opiates and was just trying to ease the withdrawal symptoms and never again. I kept on withdrawing and was just speeding my nuts off at the same time. It actually made everything worse. And the first time I actually enjoyed it for the first few hours but after that nah, I like to be able to sleep at night. I don't like things that keep me awake for days. Anyway I'm straight now, have been for years. I had a lot of fun but put myself through even more pain and suffering. I'm lucky I'm still on this earth. Many of my friends and people I knew weren't as lucky.
About 5 years ago i was building a concrete in ground swimming pool. It was 18 ft wide 24feet long and 5 ft deep. I was planning to have a backhoe come over and dig the hole. A young man from down the road wanted to dig the hole with a shovel and a wheelbarrow. He said he would dig the hole for $500. I didnt believe he could do it. He dug the hole in 2 days. It was in July in southern USA and very hot. He was a skinny kid and i was shocked at his strength and endurance. After i paid him i asked him how he was able to dig the huge hole by himself. He told me he was addicted to Meth and he was super human when he smoked it. He did seem super human. A few years later i found out he had died at age 25.
@2:55 Methamphetamine is not found in nature so it must always be synthesized in a laboratory, regardless of whether it's makeshift, professional, or something in-between.
It really makes one wonder, if Hitler and therefore the Nazis were never exposed to this, would WWll have been nearly as horrific and deadly to those who opposed the Nazis? That cocktail of drugs Hitler was on would make anyone go mad.. and he had his whole army on meth.. I wonder if the war would have ended years sooner had that never occurred. Great video..❤
People in these comments making light on the drugs he used & gave his army are completely clueless as to what they make a human feel,or not feel, & do.

Via wiki: Koivunen was a Finnish soldier, assigned to a ski patrol on 15 March 1944 along with several other Finnish soldiers. Three days into their mission on 18 March, the group was attacked and surrounded by Soviet forces, from whom they were able to escape.[3] Koivunen became fatigued after skiing for a long distance but could not stop. He was carrying his patrol's entire supply of army-issued Pervitin, or methamphetamine, a stimulant used to remain awake while on duty.[4] He consumed the entire supply of Pervitin, and had a short burst of energy, but soon entered a state of delirium and eventually lost consciousness. Koivunen later recalled waking up the following morning, separated from his patrol and having no supplies.[5] In the following days, Koivunen escaped Soviet forces once again, was injured by a land mine, and stayed in a ditch for a week, waiting for help.[5][4] In the week that he was gone, he subsisted only on pine buds and a single Siberian jay that he caught and ate raw.[5][4] Having skied more than 400 km (248.5 mi), he was later found and admitted to a nearby hospital, where his heart rate was measured at 200 beats per minute, and he weighed only 43 kg (94.8 lbs).[5][
In the movie The Salton Sea, in the beginning, the character that Val Kilmer plays tells a brief history of the invention of methedrine. The Imperial Empire of Japan's Kamikaze fighter pilots used them before their suicide missions. It was also incorporated into the Soviet-Afghan War with both sides being known to take methedrine in order to enhance their fighting ability during combat. Even in the song Lucretia - My Reflection by the goth rock band The Sisters Of Mercy, the lyrics mention this. 🎵 🎶 I hear the roar of a big machine Two worlds and in between Hot metal and methedrine I hear your empire down I hear your empire down🎶🎵
Etymology question: Is the word "Pervetin" related to the word "Perversion"? Or is it a trade name that uses the same Latin root indicating that it alters or makes a person deviate from normal parameters?
When the allies realized that this drug was fueling the blitzkrieg, they took it, cleaned it up, and came up with an amphetamine based pill that they gave to their own soldiers. Keep up the great work

No such thing as a war crime. War is war in which the premise of the event is taking a human life . " War crimes" is just another tool of war to further castrate your enemy when they're already defeated which is the only reason why it exists. There is no thin line in war, one cannot argue morality in an event that starts out with none to begin with.

My Australian father fought the Germans during WW2. On one occasion, he was amongst allies that shot down German paratroopers in what seemed to be a diversion rather than an attack by the German Airforce. When the allied troops returned a couple of weeks later, they were over whelmed by the stench of all the German bodies they'd shit down. Dad said it remained a strong memory, because the smell was very different from the usual reek of death in their war weary nostrils. He and the other soldiers were convinced that the dead paratroopers had taken drugs before what was essentially a suicide mission. It was known that Germany was a massive consumer of amphetamines, or speed, and dad assumed that this is what they had taken, before jumping into heavy gunfire from below.
That whole story is lies. Shooting people in parachutes is a war crime, even back then, during this. People that die on drugs don't smell different either.
When The Beatles performed in Hamburg, still as an unknown band, they took capsules of a drug called "Preludin", provided by the owner of the venue where they performed. It was metanphetamine.

You should do a bonus video about Aimo Koivunen’s insane Pervitin trip during the Winter War.
Have to feel sorry for that poor guy, he must have needed PTSD counselling after that.

One name comes to mind about the dangers of Pervatin during WW2: Aimo Koivunen aka the Finnish Flash
He deserves a video of his own
Via wiki: Koivunen was a Finnish soldier, assigned to a ski patrol on 15 March 1944 along with several other Finnish soldiers. Koivunen later recalled waking up the following morning, separated from his patrol and having no supplies.[5]
In the following days, Koivunen escaped Soviet forces once again, was injured by a land mine, and stayed in a ditch for a week, waiting for help.[5][4] In the week that he was gone, he subsisted only on pine buds and a single Siberian jay that he caught and ate raw.[5][4] Having skied more than 400 km (248.5 mi), he was later found and admitted to a nearby hospital, where his heart rate was measured at 200 beats per minute, and he weighed only 43 kg (94.8 lbs).[5][

Two worlds and in between

Awesome comment, one of my favorite songs since it came out in the 80s
Etymology question: Is the word "Pervetin" related to the word "Perversion"? Or is it a trade name that uses the same Latin root indicating that it alters or makes a person deviate from normal parameters?
When the allies realized that this drug was fueling the blitzkrieg, they took it, cleaned it up, and came up with an amphetamine based pill that they gave to their own soldiers. Keep up the great work

I have to wonder how many war crimes were committed under the influence of meth.
Probably more than a few. But the Nazis final goal was always the extermination of most of the Slavic population in the east to make room for German settlers. So I wouldn't say it was a main cause, but it sure as hell didn't help.
No such thing as a war crime. War is war in which the premise of the event is taking a human life . " War crimes" is just another tool of war to further castrate your enemy when they're already defeated which is the only reason why it exists. There is no thin line in war, one cannot argue morality in an event that starts out with none to begin with.
You know a drug is evil when it even contributed to literal war crimes.

One thing that rarely is mentioned about meth - nothing can compare to its ability to cure people of alcoholism....I have seen hardcore alcoholics stop drinking forever after using meth for only a week/10 days....of course they just have replaced an alcohol addiction for a meth habit but they are much more productive people than when they were alcoholics.

This was actually pretty common back in this time period. Military doctors didn't know the long term effects of meth.

The chocolate with meth myth probably comes from Scho Ka Kola, a German brand of chocolate that contains kola nut and has about as much caffeine as an energy drink. Very popular loot for American soldiers when they could get it.

The panzer crews had Panzerschokolade which actually contained Pervitin
