    What a vlog Lynn. I worked in the NHS for 32 years and the best advice is from patients who have experienced these health problems. They know what it feels like to live with these issues and how it effects their physical and mental health. You may not realise it but through the way that you have presented this vlog, there are people who are suffering the symptoms you had and are now thinking about seeking help. You explained the treatment in such a way that it took the fear of the unknown out of equation. Well done and so many thanks for sharing xx

      Aw thank you so much for saying that, I hope I did because the fear is the worst thing, it stops people going to the GP, so if my vlog has encouraged 1 person to seek help, job done, us ladies should all be helping each other, and hopefully have a laugh along the way 😂❤️❤️❤️

      Your health issues saddened me Lynne, as I wasn't aware that your condition was so bad... you've really been up against it, haven't you? But you're still smiling and having a laugh. You will come out the other side, and you will go dancing again, I have no doubt. You brought a tear to my eye when you were talking about your mum, my mother had dementia also, and I miss her everyday... I think all of us whose mothers' have died miss them. Anyway, well done for giving up the weed... 43 years for me, and I never think about it now... it's like another person and not me! Thanks for sharing, I'm sure you will have helped others with the same symptoms ❤❤❤❤❤

    Oh my goodness Lynn, what a time you’ve had of it!
    I’m slowly catching up with all your video’s, I was in the US for eight months, so never seen a lot of them.
    You are so very lucky that you were able to get all this sorted out!
    You’ve done really well on your weight loss/health plan.
    I used to go walking up the hills where I stay, I also hiked up Ben Nevis with my sister for charity.
    It’s great! It makes you feel alive and healthy, not only in the body but in the mind as well.
    Keep doing what you’re doing, you’re doing marvellously well.
    Dementia is a terrible disease, both my aunts had it before they died, it’s very sad seeing them with this, when you think what they were like before the dementia, so sad 😢
    You must’ve been heartbroken seeing your mum with this, even although she was 92, it’s still your mum and nobody should have to go through that.
    I also used to smoke and gave up, the best thing I ever did. Not only for my health but for my bank balance too! 😂
    Anyway Lynn, well done again, I wish you a very long and happy life. ❤

      Aw thank you Diane. It’s been a difficult few years to be sure, and still ongoing, but at least I’m having investigations, some people aren’t that lucky. I’ve recently fell off the band wagon, but I’m back on it now, I put some weight back on, but I’ll get rid of it soon. My daughter does a lot of hill and mountain walking, she loves it. Oh dementia, and Alzheimer’s is the cruellest disease I know, absolutely heartbreaking to watch it take your loved one piece by piece till there’s nothing left. Well done on the giving up smoking, it’s one of the best things I’ve ever done as well. I thoroughly enjoyed smoking if I’m honest, but my health was the reason I gave up, and I’ve never looked back. I saved the money in a jar, and treat myself to a holiday, as a kind of incentive. Thank you so much for this lovely message Diane, and I wish you the same lovely lady, so take care and enjoy every moment that you can….. 🌹❤️🌹❤️🌹❤️

    Oh Lynn, I feel awful as I mentioned recently mid August 2024 about you showing your legs more as they looked great, and I have only just watched this vlog to hear about your health problems some months ago. I will look at the follow up to see how you got on with the treatment and the treadmill, and also the garage declutter! You mentioned your mother having dementia but still remembering the tapping of the dance beat. Sad but bringing a smile. I remember my mother was the same, and before she lost recognition of me and my daughter and was bedridden, whenever my daughter visited her from university, she would reach for her handbag (not there) to give her some money. She had always done that when she saw her as a child and teenager. We both have smiled at that memory, not sad but somewhat amusing as you remember your memory. Continue to make us smile as you do it so well.

    • @Nanna-M
      @Nanna-M  9 дней назад +1

      Oh Hazel, please don’t feel awful, I didn’t think twice about it, I realise that people don’t know things about me so don’t ever worry. I had a stent fitted in my groin, and my left leg is absolutely fine now, but my right leg is terrible, but they say it’s not the same problem, so I’m awaiting the results of an MRI, but I’m still trying to use the treadmill when I can. You will know exactly what I’m talking about then with our mums, it’s the cruelest condition ever, it steals your mum piece by piece, and when Covid hit, I never got to see her for 2 years, by which time a lot of the recognition had gone. But I swear she knew me just before she passed. I do hope they find some kind of treatment for it soon, I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. But yes we have lots of happy memories to look back on don’t we. Have a lovely week, and take care lovely lady ❤️🌹❤️

    Oh Lynn I know how you feel. This March just gone I had a heart attack I am same age as you but i was fit, I ran three days a week and did strength training twice a week. (I have my own gym in the garden) It came as a shock to everyone who knows me. Hence the bruising with the meds. I was studying to be a personal trainer too but have put that on hold. I walk now briskly two miles every day with view to return to running as soon as i am able. I have a treadmill and i use it when it is raining outside. I reckon you will lose some weight and the changes you are making to your diet will help a lot ,diets are fad things, it is changing just one or two things when you feel you can that makes it a lifestyle change and you will stick to it more easily. Good luck and if you need any advice i am here x I know you said you hate gyms and i am the same but strength training is using little weights to help challenge your muscles and turn the fat into muscle, you can use them on the treadmill as you walk. I bet you feel marvellous in no time and it was that feeling that was and still is my motivation.

    • @Nanna-M
      @Nanna-M  Год назад +2

      Hi Julie, your story is so very sad, all that fitness and then you suffer a heart attack, it’s just not fair is it. You sound like such a positive person, and very determined to get back to good health. It sounds like you’re well on your way too. I will take your advice and try and do some strength training whilst I’m on the treadmill, my balance isn’t good so I’ll have to do one side at a time, so that I can hold on with one hand. I have one or two other health things going on, but I will definitely try and up my game. Thank you for telling me about yourself Julie… take care and keep in touch with me please 🥰🥰🥰

    Thank you Lynn for being so open and honest. Didn’t know arteries in all parts of the body could become blocked, thought it was just ones around the heart. I start off thinking of walking every day but the weather and laziness gets in the way. My husband got rid of the treadmill for a static exercise bike, which I find uncomfortable. Im liable to fall over these days, my balance is not good, puts me off walking around where i live as the pavement is uneven. Years ago i used to leave early for work, stopping off at the shopping mall. It’s was great, smooth surface and no worries if it was cold or wet.

    • @Nanna-M
      @Nanna-M  9 месяцев назад +1

      I know, it’s surprising, and drs tend not to think of a blocked artery when you complain of achy legs, they always assume it’s coming from your back, i knew it was blocked arteries, but how can you tell your dr he’s wrong. Walking is the best thing I can do for my legs, hence the treadmill, I would never think to go for a walk by myself, it just wouldn’t happen, so the treadmill in the garage works for me. I hope you find a way that suits you Chrissie, our health is so important ❤️

Oh it takes over your life doesn’t it, caring for your parents, I had the same with my mum, she never lived with me, but I went to her house every day from about 8am till early evening, she had Alzheimer’s, set fire to her house and all sorts. I know how hard it is….I was the same as you, only going out for shopping after the pandemic, I actually like lockdown, it gave me permission in a way, to stay home. I love my home, and it’s my favourite place to be still. So the treadmill is my way of exercising without the stress of going out. But that’s more difficult for you under the circumstances. You are an angel for looking after your dad, when I had to eventually take mum to a care home, for her own safety, and my sanity, I got a job there to make sure she was looked after properly, and I walked miles, every shift I did. Kept me fit, but my legs hurt so much I had to stop after 5 yrs. so anyway I’m rambling now, look after yourself, because you matter too ❤️❤️❤️

I do walk outdoors but mostly I walk around my house. Up and down the stairs, Through the lounge around the kitchen and I walk a minimum of 10,000 steps every day. That’s about 90 minutes every day, In chunks of a few thousand steps starting when I get up in a morning. I just want to tell folks that You do not need a treadmill. Good luck with the vascular issues, lots of people struggle to understand why they need to do something that is so painful. The benefits of walking through the pain barrier are worth it.

I related to your comments on that. Not dieting is wise. Baking, sharing what you bake and making healthy diet choices can go together: I've achieved results (10 kgs dropped slowly) with a "little-by-little, bit-by-bit" approach and that's what makes a good habit stick. Well Lynn, what a lovely honest video, thank you. Of course I am so very sorry to hear what has been going on for you but so very pleased that you have been listened to and that you have/are receiving the treatment that you need. I also don't like gyms, but each to their own. I live in a village in the south of England but have to say I haven't had to think about my safety so do walking on a daily basis. We have our bikes in Suffolk so do at least three reasonably long bike rides a week, stopping at a pub of course for lunch, it would be rude not to 😂. I have cut out the snacking, I think I started again because of having the grandkids. Anyway all is going in the right direction. I use light weights for side and front arm lights plus for sit ups. I do stretching which is advised and do aerobics with a dvd when I feel like it. Health is the number one thing for me so I just do what I can when I can and don't beat myself up about it, life's too short. Good luck with everything 👍, know you've got this. Can't wait for the clearing out of the garage. I'm the clear out queen 🤣😜😂 Brian always says he's going to hire me out. Take great care Lynn, wishing you all the luck in the world with your health and fitness ❤x

      Hi Linda, thank you. It’s took a while, but I got there in the end. How lovely that you feel safe and secure where you live. I live in a village, but we’ve had quite serious crimes committed not too far away, and it just makes me very nervous. Of course it would be extremely rude to pass by and not call in to have a cheeky little drink lol x oh if I’d have known that I’d have hired you myself haha x have a glass of wine when you watch, it might stress you out it’s that bad. We’ve worked solid on this house since the beginning of lockdown, done it all ourselves, in between working, prior to retiring, doing a complete damp course in my daughters house, rewire , plaster, redecorate, new everything, and a mountain of more work here. So you can imagine the rubbish, everyone’s bits and bobs etc etc, a total disgrace, but we’ve done it. I feel like a massive weights been lifted, omg I’m rambling lol….take care sweet lady xxx

      Your house looks beautiful, such good taste 😊. Yes helping family and working and having parents and their needs is certainly full on, but dearest Lynn you are doing just great. Keep being you, it's really not a rehearsal. It's so wonderful how you seem to of motivated so many ladies already, Lynn The Motivator, your new title 👍❤️. I will watch the decluttering with interest 😂😜🤣. So pleased it's now been done, you must be so thrilled, it always feels like a load has been lifted. Sorry to hear about the crime nearby but pleased you've got a treadmill, as you say you can do this in any weather, result. I've lost one pound in my first week. Use the weights for strength, which apparently is important. I've found a lovely lady on RUclips who does short videos of fitness so do them now and again which I've been enjoying. Good luck with everything. We're all routing for you, Linda ❤️

I was deeply engrossed in your health chat when a man’s voice cut across my earphones and asked if I was available to take a call. Well that’s a new one on me!!!! Something I have never experienced before😅 well done for speaking out about your condition, I am sure it will spur a lot of ladies on to walk or exercise a little more. I have osteoarthritis and currently trying to lose weight to get to the correct BMI that my surgeon will accept to be put on the waiting list.I will be 72 on 10 September and I never retired until 4 years ago from NHS where I could clock up 12000 steps no problem in work. Hi Lynn. I couldn’t believe when you said you were 68 you look amazing for your age I thought you were in your early fifties. I suffer with back problems and I walk most days it definitely helps and so does swimming I love swimming. I wish I had a treadmill as I don’t like walking in the rain and that’s hard living in Scotland as it rains a lot 😂. You’re a joy to listen to whatever the subject and you’ve done so well with your walking. I love to bake too but then I eat it. I’m lucky I’m not overweight but I try and stick to eating healthy 80% of the time and 20% of the time I eat cake 😂. I hate diets and think as long as you’re sensible you’re fine. I could listen to you all day. You’re such a lovely lady and I hope you do a q and a. Have a lovely week 🥰💕

      Woo woo thank you Sandra, early fifties 🤭 xxx sorry to hear you have back problems though, very painful. I’m the worst swimmer, I have to be where my feet will touch the bottom of the pool or I panic. My treadmill was £149 off eBay, it’s basic, bout does what I need it to. So you’re like me with the baking, bake it, eat it, repeat haha 😂 my next video on Sunday is the garage declutter, then I think I’m doing Temu fashion, with try on, so at the end of that one, I might ask for questions…..not quite decided yet. I will try and eat sensibly like you, so thank you for the inspiration sweet lady 🥰

    In my area we have 'Move it or Lose it' exercise classes for over 60s. They're a combo of some seated and some standing routines. Great fun. I'd say we are mostly late 60s to early 80s with a variety of age related health issues! My ma in law had intermittent claudication back in the day. Unfortunately she passed away from cancer (unrelated) before she was able to have the procedure she needed. It did indeed restrict her life and she was VERY resistant to using a wheelchair!

      We have classes nearby, I’ve never heard of that one though, it sounds good. Oh what a shame for your Ma in law, my left leg is so much better, but apparently my right leg is caused by something completely different, so awaiting tests for that. But that procedure has improved my life no end. ❤️❤️❤️

    Hi Lynn. I am the same age as you and I enjoy your channel very much. I think you did the right thing in getting a treadmill for exercise. I have had one for years. I didn't use it for many years until COVID and I started using it six days a week for 30 minutes. I don't diet either like you but feel healthy for my age. I have Stills Disease a rare rheumatology problem well controlled with medication. I would encourage you to use the treadmill regularly and you will feel much healthier. I always have a u tube video to watch while I'm walking on the treadmill and the time flies. Keep up the good work!

After lots of physio I am building up my steps each week. I started a RUclips channel (Mrs R's Journal) just before I had my accident & I post a healthy eating & fitness plan update video each week which really helps me stay on track. Fingers crossed you get your other leg done & get back to doing some dancing xx

    Just saw this late in the day and found it really interesting So glad you got to the bottom of that and also that there was something that could fix it - despite covid being in the way. Would love to have space for a treadmill, again like yourself not because I would like it 😮 but because I need to get a bit fitter - without going to the dreaded gym and not having to go out in all weathers. Had a treadmill in my garage several years ago and it was great - easy to get a routine. Someone said to me recently that it didn’t matter if you did 2 x half time workouts - it was just the same as the full one. Not too sure about it but once I get some motivation 🤗🙏 then I might put it to the test. I no longer have a treadmill but have followed some of the keep fit routines on RUclips for 1/2 hour spells but I feel the treadmill was better - especially for the legs Really love your vlogs 😊

      Hi Veronica, the pain was in both legs, they put a stent in my groin, and it helped lots with the left leg, but made no difference to the right. I’ve had further tests, and they think the pain is coming from my spine, so I have an MRI scan on the 14th May, so hopefully we will get to the bottom of it then. But meanwhile the treadmill is fabulous exercise for my legs, and the treadmill fits my lifestyle best. I hope you get to where you want to be with your exercise routine, and I really appreciate you watching my videos ❤️❤️❤️
