thank you for this, kp!
My pleasure! Are you going to try it?
gracias!
You are welcome :) Are you going to try it?
Thanks for this. Very useful, but I'll be waiting until there's a solution with wake words, that doesn't need the button press.
Yes, that will be the next level :)
It is now available
ESP32 S3 Box [3] provides that.
Thanks for the video. I think it would be more useful if it was wireless need a battery to power it.
Yes I agree, maybe next version :)
@@KPeyanski I found a video on YT a DIY version with esp32, mic, speaker and battery powered all in 3d printed shell
ruclips.net/video/EeUG3Si9fZk/видео.htmlsi=TQ_0oY31WbJzgPnH
I think mixing up the 2 projects would be great.
Thank you and keep up the good content.
Also tried to order from website still not available in UK
Sorry to hear that, I can only suggest to check again after a while...
😂works great thankyou
Enjoy
Amazon link takes you a atom echo for £219 link wrong great video thanks
Thanks for the info! It seems that you are redirected to Amazon UK and unfortunately there is no such product. Instead, some Amazon speaker is displayed for such a price
@@KPeyanski ok thanks for your answer.
Can you explain why ESP home needs to be installed please?
Think of it as a firmware or software that commands the hardware (atom echo) and speaks with home assistant wirelessly
Can we talk without pressing the button? Because I want to hang atom echo from the ceiling while using it at home. Can I use it like that?
Not with this device. Pressing the button before talking is a must
Understand thank you
I have one but do not use it as I've replaced it with a phone.
Thanks for sharing! You can use them both in different rooms for example
True. I tend to use Alexa around the house.
I think the Atom Echo is for experts only. I consider myself IT literate but spent literally days trying to set one up and things only went from bad to worse. Initially it seemed to install bit didn't work properly - nothing I could do with it triggered any response in Home Assistant and its light lit, but never in green. Eventually it failed with a persistent encryption error, even after multiple reinstalls. I blame the ESP Home software with its ambiguous instructions and user-hostile nature and hope I never need to use it.
Sorry for your bad experience. Just a quick question did you try that before you watch the video or after that?
@@KPeyanski Before watching your video (a few weeks ago). I had watched two earlier videos from other people and tried to follow the instructions in the Home Assistant documentation but very few of the steps worked for me as described.
@@saltwell agree with your assessment of ESPhome, it is a little oversold as easy to use, but it is very ambiguous and not very user-friendly. It works well, but a lot of untold tricks and installation steps that are not obvious. ESPhome needs a LOT of polishing for better usability. INstead of adding more features, they should spend time in the configuration flow options and also an easy-to-update procedure
Sesli asistanlardan çok farklı değil. Fakat onlardan çok daha ucuz.
I don't understand, hope it is something good or informative ;)
English "It's not very different from voice assistants. But they are much cheaper."
Thanks for the translation, can you please share which speaker is cheaper than the one in the video?
"I think it was a mistranslation. That's what I meant. I meant it's not cheap. The cheapest is atom echo. Voice assistants from brands like Amazon or Google are very expensive."
pressing button? meh no :)
What are you using instead at the moment?
@@KPeyanski nothing - there is zero good simple cheap solution for offline non spying open device for home assistant :(
CRAP! IF YOU NEED TO PRESS BUTTON IT'S WORTHLESS THEN.
