    The recommended speed is 0-5mph with lower quality/reliability from 5-10mph. Above 10mph it is difficult for it to capture enough data. The green circle around the boat icon will change to yellow or red if you are moving too fast or have poor GPS signal. Thank you for helping us newbs understand some of these features on the Garmin!

    The color pallet for the Garmin reminds me of a children's coloring book.

    Awesome. I was just out on my favorite city park lake and wondered how to get it on the map. Can't wait for the weekend to go test this out!

    Do you have to put a blank sd card in unit when you recording quick draw. Or does it go onto your map card??? Thanks for your videos

    Are you adding to a map already available from Navionics? I have a local lake that is partially available from Navionics I'd like to complete it without going over what's already done. I'm not sure how to do that.

    • @DoubleTFishing
      @DoubleTFishing  3 года назад +1

      Yes the QuickDraw is layered on top of the navionics map and can be turned on and off, thanks for the comment, have a great weekend!!!

    Can you tell me where I can find my boat hull ID or is that the Garmin ID number?

      Mine is on the original purchase paperwork for my boat and Kayak. I'm not sure exactly where it is on the physical boat? Mine is at the transom.

    I have QuickDraw to make contour maps of some small lakes. Can I enhance there detail by going over the lake several times. If so do I turn QuickDraw on when going over lake again ?? Do I have to have the map screen up for it to work. Thank you enjoy your videos very much. They have been very helpful.

      I’m not sure if going over them again overwrites previous data or adds to it? Great question, my guess would be it just overwrites the previous data🤷

      What I do is have it on a combo screen an just touch the other screen to get full screen sonar with the maps running in the background

      I have found that going over previously recorded data from different angles or directions definitely increases the accuracy and detail.

    Can you save a quickdraw for a particular lake under the name of that lake then do another lake and save that lake under it's name, and do other lakes that way also?
    I seem to only be able to record multiple lakes under one name. I emailed Garmin and they have failed to answer. The manual says nothing about this either.

    • @DoubleTFishing
      @DoubleTFishing  3 года назад +1

      You can rename it in the chart menu and make a copy but I’m not sure if it will let you store them separately on your main SD card. I haven’t played around with separating the files. Thanks for the comment, be happy to pass along any info you might run across.

    • @LunkerFishing

      @@DoubleTFishing, If I understand you correctly, I need to use a separate SD card for every lake I want to map if I want them kept as a separate file for each lake because no more than one file can be kept on a single SD card?

    • @DoubleTFishing
      @DoubleTFishing  3 года назад +1

      Sorry if I mislead you, I thought you wanted to be able to separate the lakes. If you create maps on separate lake you don’t need to do anything, the map should always be on your main card. I’m not an expert on Garmin’s file management system. Should be able to just make maps and use them!!

      @@DoubleTFishing, Sorry I guess I was not clear. I mapped of a lake and named it. I went to another lake and tried making a second map of another lake but I cannot name that new lake. I can change the first lakes name and change it to the second lakes name but what good is that? It only gives me multiple lakes maps under one name. There is no option I can find to do a "Save As" to name a second lake map and have two separate maps both correctly names with their lake names on the same card.

    Any contour maps you make are shared with the community for free. There is not a way to download your contours for yourself to view on a pc or ipad without sharing. Know that before buying.

  • @donmey8109

    Do you have to anything to save the map

    • @DoubleTFishing
      @DoubleTFishing  Год назад

      Once you record the QuickDraw it becomes part of your user data, I don’t remember if there’s a prompt to save it when you stop recording but I don’t remember having to do anything special. You can turn the QuickDraw contours on/off in the settings. There is a limitation of how much area you can map. You do want to make sure you synchronize back to the active captain app a few times a year in case your chart plotter SD card or fish finder unit goes bad you don’t want permanently loose too much data. I always share my contours with the community when I synch back to the app.
