I love your theories, can we keep talking about them? I kind of disagree with your ninth point about Squealer's intent and ability to invade the village. "False Minoshiro" seemed vaguely aware that another "Fiend would likely reappear again in the near future" when Saki and others discovered it. That is kind of a thing they never really explained how the minoshiro knows that, or maybe it theorized it based on the existing statistical data of fiends in the library, I don't know. (Even though Akki was not a fiend, the outcomes were similar) My point is, the existence of Saki being related to the attack on the village seems a bit disconnected to me because, if it is explained that "fiends" are a statistically reoccurring thing, then a fiend will appear whether or not Saki survived the Tainted Cats. I think it is also an issue of HOW Squealer even got access to another False Minoshiro Library, because I think queerats will not have known about the Death Feedback of humans without having ancient knowledge. So, if Squealer can catch a False Minoshiro by himself, that would not depend on the existence of Saki, and they WILL DEFINITELY plan on attacking psychic humans since they discovered the political theory of Democracy. One error I noticed- at around 5:40 you mentioned how the psychics “couldn’t fight back against the human military forces” bc they couldn’t harm other humans. But that’s actually not true. In the beginning they were perfectly capable of harming both normal human and other PK users. It wasn’t until long after the war that this changed. Their society was super unstable bc just one unstable PK users could threaten their entire society. The queerats were developed as a consequence of PK users first deciding that they would alter their OWN genes to make it so that they couldn’t harm each other (and other small changes but). But they knew that if they made it so they couldn’t harm each other, then they also wouldn’t be able to harm normal humans- which would make them very vulnerable. That is why they altered the normal humans and made them into queerats. Hope this made sense!
Additionally, at the time that the psychic humans modified the non-psychic humans, the non-psychic humans already lived effectively as slaves to the psychic humans. The psychic humans wanted to stabilize their own society by introducing death feedback, but did not want to give up their position of power over the non-psychic humans. That's why it was necessary for them to transform non-psychic humans into monster rats.
Gotta comment because I really hate the translation “queer rats”. The Japanese term is bakenezumi, the combination of the words bakemono and nezumi. Monster rats are what they’re being called. This show is my absolute top 1. And I have seen hundreds of anime. It is nice to see that other people also appreciate this masterpiece. :) Also, last episode has one of the best speeches in anime history ever, IMO.
A masterpiece with commentary on humanity and their struggle for power and the injustices that come with it. Though I do have one doubt. Hope someone in the comment section can clarify it. It is explained that humans couldn't defend against fiends or orges because they would die from the death of shame. But my point is, can't they just attack nonetheless? It's quite common for soldiers to sacrifice their lives against and enemy. Even if you are bound to die from the death of shame, if you deliver a fatal wound then one human sacrifice is all it'd take to bring down a fiend. Or is there something else that I missed? Even if there isn't, I don't think an small issue like that and the somewhat average animation quality ruins a story of this caliber. But hope someone can explain that part.
I believe you see what happens when a human tries to use their power to deliberately kill another human right at the end when The fiend is dying. Due to high stress and adrenaline after seeing her plan being successful, Saki suddenly feels a strong chest pain, as if the death of shame is about to kick, since well they were trying to kill another human albeit indirectly. The reality is that, whenever a human is about to kill another human, the death of shame starts to kicks in and physically inhibits the body of the former against doing so.
Its definetly one of the greatest Stories of the last decades & might even be the best, when it comes to telekinetic powers! no other "universe" has ever thought about the outcome of these powers, when they fall under the control of the subconcious....reshaping the real world in the same uncontrollable way as a dream & all the chaos that would unleash. and then growing up in a "human" society, that tries hard to keep the subconcious(&powers) under control?, its pretty messed up for the kids, specially when they find hints at the reality of their & "humanitys" state of being. *GREAT Series!* shame there isnt more of this universe available
This series is complicated and very thoughtfully crafted, a lot of morally grey and awful actions taken by people and society on each other, and imo the only thing that would have elevated it even harder for me is if Saki had started to see the rats as human too - and died after killing Squeeler lump for good.
Honestly, how mind boggling this anime is , using that factor as a means of getting the audience hooked is just...SUPERB!? I'd already begun watching it, so I wanted to know how each episode would end. Albeit, it made me SO anxious. After I'd realized that it wasn't light-hearted in the slightest, I began to worry for which characters would survive lol. I won't deny that the trailer and yaoi vibes I'd seen in a video were what attracted me to this series. BUTTTT, oof- Thank you for this video, it's hard for me to summarize, the anime because I feel like I woldn't be doing it justice. So much happened in this lol.
Cool video loved how it came out ❤In the future i would love to see you talk about When they cry or Shiki those are one of my fave horror anime and are really lit you can even talk about the seven deadly sins❤
I don't think the monster rats were depicted as animalistic. Also you got the lore wrong. Psychic humans were extremely aggressive and powerful and easy wom against humans but that aggression made them too dangerous to themselves. So they engineers themselves to not be able to kill another without dying and then that gave non psychics the advantage who were then engineered to resemble monster rats so that they could use their power against them.
I asked that too, but I think Satoru's statement said it all: "They wanted to preserve the higher status of the privileged class." It was established that Hunter-Gatherer Tribes (the non-PK humans) were subservient to Slave Empires the (PK humans). We also know that the Scientist tribes (who were also PK humans) were only able to make the decision to implement Death Feedback AFTER the fall of Slave Empires. So, the explanation would be, scientists didn't want to make an egalitarian, equitable society. They want their psychic powers and have slaves, but they didn't want the slaves to fight back so they turned them into monster rats. They CAN definitely give death feedback to ALL humans… but they didn't. Some messed up stuff.
@@nklmiloq Oh, I did not know that, I never read the novel. Thanks for letting me know. From what I remember in the anime, scientists had to genetically engineer the death feedback into PK users. If that's true, then death feedback is "PK-specific," meaning only when PK is used to harm other humans will it take effect. But then I have to ask (and this is not in the anime OR novel, I think): could it not have been possible for the scientists to genetically engineer death feedback to function based on ALL types of harm against humans? IF death feedback is PK-specific, would it be possible for a PK-human to, say, kill another human with a knife? Smashing their head with a rock? Using weapons of physical assault? I have to check the Minoshiro episode again, but I'm very sure death feedback is genetic, and I highly question of the exclusion of non-PK humans to have death feedback. Thanks for the information, again. I really like this anime.
@@nklmiloq Okay, so I checked, it turns out you ARE right. Genes are the code, and PK is the mechanism of death feedback. PK is the mechanism which stops the activity of liver and parathyroid glands. Non-PK users will not die from death feedback because they don't have psychic powers that will turn against them. Geez, this anime is an ethical clusterf*ck, I do not know how to resolve this.
@@ksdtsubfil6840 Death feedback is automatic use of your own PK to cause heart attack triggered by accidental or intentional killing by any direct means. You can’t use PK or aggressive attacks to other humans due to another function, but you can still kill them with obscure ways or by accident, while you are going to die due to death feedback if you’re a PK user. Non PK users are free from death feedback and rather dominant in that regard.
SSY be like. I think they killing kids with cats. Yup they killing kids with cats. I think I might go crazy. Yup I go crazy. I think I did have sister. Yup I have sister before so what. I think sentient rats bad. Yup sentient rats are bad. The only plot twist in this mystery show is that why so many people like it. Oh and don't say the line "because it is thought provoking". The only thing that is provoking is that gay scene.
5:47-7:07 is basically the whole thematic breakdown of the video, other parts being just recapping. Shinsekai Yori despite it's wasted potential is a good anime but as far as the popular "thin line of humans vs monsters" (which I usually love), this anime has to be one of the poorest representations of it. Not only it's very sloppy how we learn that humanity's reign over them is actually this cruel and merciless in the very last episode by simply hearing about it but the fact that they are basing inclusion of other beings based on some chromosomes count instead of sentience only shows that even at the end, that so called revelation didn't learn them a thing about morality.
You know, The Promised Neverland... Can we just ignore that anime? We should wait for The Promised Neverland: Brotherhood. The manga was great, though.
Not really. Themes aside, the sheer power of the magic makes the "who's the real villain" question not that deep. All the bad that the humans do are very very necessary evils for any semblance of society to exist
Thank you for this video. I have watched 10 episodes and i couldnt go on anymore. I realy give my best to watch all episodes but i couldnt. Really a bad Anime in my opinion. Promised Neverland plays in another legue.
Several specific things I don't like about this boring ass show. 1)Saki's sister. We were teased since the beginning that she might have a sibling. Sure enough she did. So what. It's a mystery not needed because they already know that cats killing them children. I mean even Saki didnt confront her parents about it. So why bother with it in the first place. To show the cantus on the mirror? 2)They split up the group then focus on Saki only. On the summer camp arc, Satoru and Saki were together for like a few episodes fighting rats. Then the others show up in the end okay. Like wtf. Half ass explanation is said. So thats it. Hear it and move on? Oh dont forget the last arc where they split up again. And we were "told" not shown about what happened to the other group besides where Saki was in. 3)Inconsistent love story. Saki x Shun. Then after time skip, Shun x Satoru????? Then Saki x Maria??? Wat the actual fuck. Then all of a sudden Shun breaks up with Satoru because "I'm done being your puppet" mystery which turns out to be nothing. Then out of nowhere or because a sadboi is being left out, MariaxMamoru(a background character). 4) Is Kiroumaru bad or good question? He was introduced as a sketchy guy but leaning towards bad because of the stories about loyalty bla blah but then he is good coz he let them go. But then he is bad coz he use drugs. Then he good coz he save Inui. But he might be bad coz Inui thinks Kikoumaru is setting them up. But he good again coz he sacrifice his life. 4) Random psychedelic animation. No point understanding or interpreting them. 5) Strong cantus as kids. Weak cantus as adults. It is what it is coz its for the plot.
But the anime is so boring and it's difficult to continue lol that's why I'm watching your video to understand wtf was going there in that weird anime lol
What hot garbage. The show kept promising some deep philosophical discussion or something, and by the time we got to it, it massively under-delivered. No, horses don't have human rights. No, cows don't have human rights. And no, rat-men don't have human rights. They can have rat-men rights though. Any half-hearted Googling on _what_ human rights are would have immediately given you these answers. It's pretty though, I'll give it that. But alot shallower than what it promised to be.
do you find it difficult to do other basic skills besides basic connecting of dots in story telling, or can you actually manage to tie your shoes and use door knobs? it genuinely seems like you might struggle with that sort of thing. The Story Scrutinizer. The Anime Analyzer. The Metaphor Mystic. The Inference Inspector. The Condescending Considerer. The Asshole Analyzer. You do you king, live your best life
Quick question though, how should "rat-men rights" be different with "human rights"? Also, what do you do when these different rights conflict each other? Do you-I don't know-prioritize "human" rights over the other? Because the larger conflict comes when we acknowledge that at the cognitive and emotional level psychic humans and monster rats seem to suffer the same. So you cannot say that because psychic humans have greater physical power to commit violence, their rights should be prioritized because that will DEFINITELY justify the "RATMEN UPRISING." They could say, "well, you definitely don't give an absolute fuck about us so why should we listen to you? And if you try to stop us we will definitely retaliate."

The first season is still great, the second season on the other hand
well the season 2 manga is still amazing. Highly recommend it
@@Bagunka season 2 in the manga was almost as bad, which is why they skipped it. Unfortunately, what came after wasn't any better.
You should try covering more mainstream titles, it might help you get recognized more! I found your channel by searching up From The New World, so it might do you wonders to appeal to mainstream fans.
This show is my absolute top 1. And I have seen hundreds of anime. It is nice to see that other people also appreciate this masterpiece. :) Also, last episode has one of the best speeches in anime history ever, IMO.
I remember i randomly stumbled upon this manga and read it didn't know it has anime adaptation.
@@kevinkrust Yeah, I like the manga a lot. And I will probably watch the anime as well.
For anyone expecting ecchi, there isn't much (or at all) in the anime.
Its a very deep anime in the end you feel how close it is to the reality of human society
guys you need to watch Japanese drama from the author of shinsekai yori's novel, Kagi no kakatta heya it also based on a novel by same author.
i love shinsekai yori so muchh, thankyou for reviewing!.
I left this series after Shun's death. He was my favorite character. I couldn't keep watching after that. I'd like to see more of him
A masterpiece with commentary on humanity and their struggle for power and the injustices that come with it.
The reality is that, whenever a human is about to kill another human, the death of shame starts to kicks in and physically inhibits the body of the former against doing so.
wow this video was so good well structured and just amazing you should cover violet evergarden.
I just watched this anime, it's absolutely amazing. Too many kids in the comments that cannot appreciate it and keep calling it boring, though🙄
Squealer did nothing wrong
This series is complicated and very thoughtfully crafted, a lot of morally grey and awful actions taken by people and society on each other, and imo the only thing that would have elevated it even harder for me is if Saki had started to see the rats as human too - and died after killing Squeeler lump for good.
How is this only 52 views
such an amazing anime, ive seen many great anime but overall i gotta say this is still my number 1
I was just looking for Dvorak's 9th Symphony, did not expect to find a good anime
This anime is soooooo underrated
The promised neverland y shinsekai yori se parecen muchoo we
there is an anime called neverland , if you're comparing it to this one I'm going to look it up right away
LOVE this. I really need to check this anime out further.
I watched the first minute of this and remembered I haven't finished this show so I can't watch the rest of this video. I'm sorry :(
Evanit0 same :( except I’ve never heard of the anime
@@doompii Dana, stop everything you're doing and go watch it now!
Guess I gotta watch this series now, keep up the good work fren :3
Did you enjoy lol
Shin sekai yori taught me about racism in the depth my southern public school education never did lol
Luckily the original novel has chinese translation version. It's a true masterpiece as an science fiction novel.
If you think that there is a monster on shinsekai yori you didn't understand anything.
omg i loved this video :') u should deffo watch/discuss devilman crybaby in the future!!!!
Subscribing for this
Why didn't they do the death feedback to all humans...? PK or non-PK humans.
@@ksdtsubfil6840 Death feedback functions through their own PK, thus can’t applicable to non-PK users. That’s clearly said in the original novel.
RIP channel?
The monster is the one we see in the mirror
The promised neverland and shinsekai yori are the best anime , N o t h i n g outmatches them
Do you want to repeat that in 2021?
The manga of The Promised Neverland was awesome though.
@@erin1569 i consider season 2 of the promised neverland better than the first one
@carlos abrego both of them are really deep and emotional
@carlos abrego oh i don't know , it just looks better ,the story is trash tho imo XD
the anime is masterpiece. The manga is Hen..
Just go watch the anime and not read the manga
I only use free unofficial streaming service. >:)
This anime gave me insecurities~~
Please someone knows the last ost of shinsekai yori used in the video????
T h e k r u s t i s b a c k
Song name?
You know, The Promised Neverland... Can we just ignore that anime? We should wait for The Promised Neverland: Brotherhood.
The manga was great, though.
This series made me understand the mind of a suicide bomber
Where is the SCP foundation when you need to maintain normalcy? :)
Eyori*
Not grey, monster rats were right.
