It's incredible how Lindsay Lohan was able to to play both twins. Each scene featuring them both was filmed twice, with her playing either Hallie or Annie opposite a stand-in actress. The scenes were then edited together to make the combined scene appear seamless to viewers. It's remarkable film making.

Lindsay has always been the most flexible out of the early 2000's teen actresses. While Hillary Duff kept being put into the sweet nice girl category and Amanda Bynes in the clumsy tomboy, Lindsay could be girly, tomboy, serious, playful- just brilliant from a young age. Never really bought Emma Roberts as a bad girl in We're the Millers, for example.

Natasha Richardson played Elizabeth and was part of a significant British acting dynasty. Her mother was Oscar-winning actress Vanessa Redgrave, and her sister was Joely Richardson. Not to mention, her father, grandfather, grandmother, and stepfather were also in show business. She was also very happily married to Liam Neeson, whom she met doing a play on Broadway with him. She died tragically young in a skiing accident. Liam has never fully gotten over her death (he has never remarried). The same year this film came out, she won the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her performance as Sally Bowles in a landmark revival of Cabaret opposite Alan Cumming as The Emcee (who won Best Actor).
As for good Dennis Quaid movies: The Right Stuff (as Gemini astronaut Gordon Cooper), Enemy Mine, Postcards From the Edge (which was based on Carrie Fisher's roman a clef novel of her own life), Come See the Paradise, Wyatt Earp (as Doc Holliday), Dragonheart, Something To Talk About, The Rookie, The Special Relationship (as President Bill Clinton), and Midway (as Adm. Bull Halsey). There are more, but...just some that I really liked!

The reason the premise is so freaking wild by today's standards is because the original story (which later became a Disney movie in the 60s) was written in the early 20th century when married couples separating was much less common and if they had kids and didn't stay in touch, this kind of arrangement could actually happen.

Now to react to the Original Parent trap staring Hayley Mills (the 1961 film) and It Takes Two (1995) which is an Olsen twins rip off of the Parent Trap except that the identical little girls aren't actually sisters.
I remember when I was a kid I thought that the Parent Trap was a rip off of It Takes Two.

    • @sawanna508
      @sawanna508 6 месяцев назад

It Takes Two is more like a mixture of a modern Prince and the Pauper and The Parent Trap because the girls are not twin just looking identically and they come from a different social class beside different personalities. One of the girls is poor (Maybe even half orphan) while the other is rich. They even show a scene in the movie were the two girls get confused with each other by accident in the beginning.

Funny you said that they should remake this movie. This is a remake of 1961's, "The Parent Trap." I grew up with the original Parent Trap. On the rare occasions that it was on television, it was a family event in my household. Brian Keith played dad. Maureen O'Hara played the mother. (Man she was stunning in this film. What a beautiful woman.) And Haley Mills played the twins. Joanna barnes, who played Vicky Robinson in the original film, (dad's new girlfriend), also plays Vicky Blake, (mother of dad's new girlfriend), in this film. As a fan of the original film, I was delighted to hear Hallie singing "Let's Get Together" in this version of the movie. That was a piece of a song sung by "the twins" in the original film. The story line is about the same. Though, of course, it was updated a bit for modern audiences. But the original version is also a delight to watch and for fans of the '98 version, I highly suggest giving it a go. It is just as fun.

interesting bit of trivia about the the parent trap...this was probably one of Lindsay Lohan's biggest success films and it was because they had two of her. i mean it was made LONG before any of the bad rumours began about Lindsay. many stories involving twins are usually so succesful.
well when parents gets divorced usually one parent gets custody...especially with twins...i mean separating twins nowadays would be considered detrimental to their development, twins learn a lot from their other half in early years. i think that's why this film is considered to interesting.

This movie is just such a great one! First of all the editing on making Lindsay Lohan look like twins is just some of the best editing I've ever seen! I honestly sometimes forget that she plays both characters. It is also so funny and wholesome and chaotic! I won't lie, as iconic as Mean Girls is, I think this movie was Lindsay's best performance!

This movie is already a remake. The original was in the 60s and starred Hayley Mills as the twins. Doesn’t really fit with your 90s/2000s series but maybe you want to react to the original as well.
Another LL movie you might try out is Freaky Friday (also a remake of an earlier movie) with Jamie Lee Curtis playing the mom.

I thinking the phone booth was across the street slash on the corner from where there home was. Pretty close. He was suspicious right away and followed her. International calling takes a min to connect especially back then and especially if you was calling collect. Grandpa showed up about halfway threw the call. Yea it made it look like the call was answered right away. But it doesn't work like that. You need the operator asking if you accept the charges ect. Then your connected. And no way she paid for the call. She ran out of the house. She didn't stop for money. Especially International call money

This is my favorite movie of all time. I watched it so so often on VHS as a kid that my parents refuse to watch it with me now I'm 21 because they're so sick of it! As an only child in England this film was like a fantasy come true to find out you have a twin in another country lol. The ear piercing scene actually scared me from getting my ears pierced so much I waited until I was 16 only to realize it was literally nothing, felt similar to a stapler I guess XD Love the reaction as always and so so glad to see you enjoy this masterpiece! x :)

I always feel a little sad when I see Natasha Richardson (R.I.P.🙏) anywhere in the media. We lost her way too soon and I don't think her husband has ever gotten over it. My favorite movie with Natasha was *_with_* her husband Liam Neeson in1994's "Nell". Super performances all around with a spectacular message story.

This is actually a remake of a film by the same name from 1961. Joanna Barnes who plays Meredith's mother in this one was in the 1961 film (essentially playing Meredith's role).
I always wondered how the parents came to the decision to separate the girls, especially because they weren't horrible people. (though that is kind of horrible). It's still one of my favourite childhood movies.
Besides this and Mean Girls, some of Lindsay Lohan's best roles are in Freaky Friday, Herbie Fully Loaded, Life-Size, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen and Just My Luck. I recommend watching Freaky Friday especially. And speaking of Matilda: Before Lohan was cast, Mara Wilson auditioned was considered for the role.
Dennis Quaid has been in, among others: The Day After Tomorrow, In Good Company, Cold Creek Manor, Soul Surfer, A Dog's Purpose (and its sequel A Dog's Journey) and I Can Only Imagine. Coincidentally, there is a 39 year age gap between Quaid and his current wife. Elaine Hendrix, who plays Meredith, tweeted him "better watch out for those twins!"
Natasha Richardson, the daughter of Vanessa Redgrave and sister to Joely Richardson (who was in the live action 101 Dalmatians), who plays Elizabeth, tragically died in a skiing accident in 2009 at the age of 45. She was married to Liam Neeson at the time of her death.
Fun fact: Two years after the release of this movie, Lisa Ann Walter, who plays Chessy, gave birth to twin boys on October 11th (same date as in the movie).
Elaine Hendrix (Meredith) and Lisa Ann Walter (Chessy) have been very close friends since filming. Just recently they learned that their great-grandparents lived just blocks apart in NYC in the early 1900s and may have known each other.
The black dress Martin suggests that Elizabeth wears to impress Nick is a nod to the dress Princess Diana wore after her divorce form Charles, referred to as the "revenge" dress.
Finally, you forgot your story at 17:30!
