🤔I get why people compare Rose to a Westbrook or Ja but to me they’re not the same. Rose’s balance and quickness, combined with the explosion, combined with aerial acrobatics, is something that hasn’t been seen before. His layup package was not like anyone else I’ve ever seen. Go watch Rose’s first game of the 2010-11 season against Westbrook and OKC. His finishes at the basket were incredible, nobody today is finishing like that.

His finishing was like Ja but he was smoother and cooler because he was nonchalant. Also the hype of being a #1 pick to your hometown team of the chicago bulls which had not been relevant since the MJ days. Everyone could feel it that this dude was supposed to take over the league. Rose had Westbrook explosiveness, kyries knowledge on how to rotate the ball off the backboard for the crazy layup package, mixed with some ridiculous ability to just do whatever he wanted to his body while in mid air. People always compare Ja to him nowadays or sometimes Westbrook. What’s crazy is there’s similarities but no. Rose had a much bigger bag than any of those guys.

I Was 12-13 while in Chicago playing basketball for my 8th grade grammar school. I’m 24 now. Derrick rose back then was unreal to watch. To me he’s like the MJ of my generation- I never got to watch MJ play but I watched D Rose. He was an inspiration to my team and I as we grew up south side of Chicago not too far from where D rose grew up. Simeon HS where he played was up the street from me. Derrick Rose had the City in a Legit choke hold 🥀🌹
