  • Good day! Chris and Erika here - Welcome to our channel this week. We had an amazing time at Elabana Falls in O'Reilly's Rainforest, and we can't wait to share our adventure with you. Elabana Falls is a stunning cascade waterfall tucked away in the beautiful Lamington National Park in Queensland, Australia. It's the perfect spot for a nature walk and a bit of waterfall magic!
We were so excited to explore the bush land and go on a fun hike to find these gorgeous waterfalls. There's just something special about being surrounded by nature, and Elabana Falls definitely didn't disappoint. The hike starts at O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat and takes you on an in-and-out trail. You can also choose to extend your adventure by taking the Lamington National Park Loop Walk. It's a great way to experience even more of the park's beauty!
To start the trail, just park your car at the O’Reilly’s day-use car park, walk past the lodge, and you'll see a trail into the forest on the other side of the road. After a short walk, you'll come to a point where you can choose to continue straight or take a detour to the Tree Top Walk. We definitely recommend the Tree Top Walk - it's so much fun and gives you an amazing view of the canopy! From there, you can head to Picnic Rock & Elabana Falls, and then choose to return or continue your adventure.
Here are some details about the trail:
Difficulty: The trail can get a bit muddy, but it's not too difficult overall. The only steep parts are when you go down to Picnic Rock and Elebana Falls, and then make your way back up.
Length: The whole trail is just over 7 klms, and a bit longer if you add the Tree Top Walk.
Elevation: You'll experience an elevation gain of about 120 meters from the base of Elebana Falls to the top of the hill on the way back.
Unfortunately, dogs aren't allowed in the Lamington National Park, including the hike to Elebana Falls and Picnic Rock. The total walking time is around 3.5-4 hours.
We hope our adventure inspires you to go out and enjoy the warmer weather in Australia with some awesome hiking! We highly recommend O'Reilly's Rainforest Retreat.
