Someone made this comment in your original posting of this video, but dude, honestly, there are elements of your rendition that are as powerful or more so than the original by Toto!
Galeazzo, I live in Brazil, I'm 19 and I've watched your videos since I was 13 years old, and it was through them that I learned to listen and play most of the songs I listen to, and I'm very grateful, I hope you never stop sending videos , a big hug.
Even if I am not a singer but an instrumentalist, I found this amazing. I admit I would never be able to listen and understand completely the complementary voices in this tune if they weren´t presented isolated so clearly and well executed like this guy did. Obviously an extremely talented singer to cover such vocal range so perfectly. Liked and greetings from Argentina.
You're so perfectly in sync with yourself at the end that it almost sounds like it's phasing, similar to what Def Leppard was famous for. Really great job.
I must have watched this 100 times over the years. It’s a great song and a flawless breakdown of the song. It’s deceptively complex and has parts that, individually, seem out of place but all mixed together they are wonderful. It’s an old clip but it’s fantastic and makes me appreciate the song even more. I’ve loved this since I was a kid and it’s just a shame that I don’t have your talent as I’ll just have to hum it instead of singing it!
I'm absolutely astounded by this video. I stumbled upon you while trying to explain melody and harmony to my wife. After watching this, case closed. You are awesome and the quality and organization of the video production is perfect. Thanks for uploading, and I'm glad I found you!
Having been in various bands in my youth and being able at that time to sing in the saprano range like McCatney , Neil Young, Graham Nash , even Frankie Valli. ... Just want to say , you sir have an amazing ear for music and recreating vocal harmonies.Thank You for sharing your talent , you are a joy to listen to.
Every time I hear these i get excited. But this one seriously would hit #1 if you released it on the charts. Youre absolutely amazing. And this song in particular, show talented and mesmerizing you are. Speechless every time
this is great. ive been singing backing on this for years but never realised i was mixing some of the parts up. This song has gained massive popularity with choirs recently, id love to hear your take about how to arrange it for a big gospel choir.
Galeazzo, thank you so much for this tutorial. My band recently added this tune to our repertoire. We could not have done it without your help. Grazie molto!!!
Wow, I always wonder how you figure out all vocal lines from songs. This one is especially hard to crack all the notes. I always here only the highest line clear. :) Well done! Your channel is very hepful.
Wow. This is fantastically isolated. Very complex movements and chords, but you've managed to break it all down superbly. It gives you a new appreciation for Africa by Toto.
Your ear must be as amazing as your voice to catch all that!!! some of those lines are so quiet in the mix that I can barely catch them even knowing exactly what to listen for after this video, im so blown away :)
Though that chord on "down" is indeed lush, I think the one two notes later on "Aa" (of Africa) makes me giddy with delight, as I know it'll be resolved imminently and it's just so rich. Thank you immensely for this. Several parts are so close it's been impossible for me to distinguish. TOP WORK!
This is your first video iv ever watched, but omg, prob the best video iv ever watched. I am a band geek, and am thinking about majoring in music, so I know to listen to the harmonies in music. I absolutely love this piece, but when I heard the individual parts it made me love it and you more. Thank you
That was absolutely amazing such a complex song thanks for breaking that down for us and that is just Why didn't the band do this for us and create some kind of instructional video at if it wasn't for you this would have never happened
You are the ultimate in music analogy and knowledge. Not only that, your voice and vocal abilities are stellar. I hope to always see you here on RUclips, you are the BEST, absolutely. Thank you xxxxxxxx :)
Your videos are absolutely brilliant. Honestly, you deserve far more viewers and subscribers. There's just so much care and attention put in each of these harmony break downs. Here's hoping you reach a 100,000 subs soon
Hey Galeazzo, I hope you're doing well. I first watched this video, years ago (the original that got copyright stricken) and absolutely loved it then, and still love it today! I never get tired of watching it. Thanks so much for breaking this epic song down and explaining the harmonies. You're awesome, man!
I've been stuck on that third harmony for a long time. You mean there's a fourth one in there? Wow. Mind blown. Seriously, I did a lot of improvisation on this to a decent effect, but I was only using two voices. After recording all four voices together about a half dozen times, I can hear it coming together.
please my friend, continue making this magnific work please with chorus from other master pieces. I'm hypnotized. I have not been able to stop listening to these magical hidden voices that are not perceived and are individually wonderful.. My like and subscription.
wow, thank you so much! Found you, as I looked for an A capella version of another song. I recently joined a womens Barbershop chorus and this is so much fun! I sing the baritone and this is such an intersting voice. I always sang "Africa" in the car and, without knowing, mixed the 2nd and 3rd backing vocals. Thank you for showing how to sing this!!
Thanks a lot for this great "Africa" tutorial! I always need a lot of time to figure out separate voices in songs with harmony and your video is a welcome shortcut ;-)
Your work is brilliant. Toto is my all time fav band. Unbelievable session musicians, and no one comes close to their harmonies. Someday I'd love to record all the Africa tracks...I've got the range, lol..just would be interesting to hear it done with a female voice. Keep up the amazing work.
Most excellent, thank you very much. Our 3-piece band is working on this magnificent song (actually, I'm doing bass and horns/synth on keyboards instead of just bass guitar, so technically 4 piece, but 3 guys!) I'll be singing the lower part of the verse and harmony under the high part, and that so-cool little lower rising thing on the A in Africa. I was able to pick up on what he was doing some, but this video made it especially clear, I was on the right track! I hear many covers that don't even touch it, they may not have even noticed it, which is sad, it adds so much. Thanks again! Wish us luck!!!

Bobby Kimball with Timothy B. Schmitt (Eagles)
Bobby Kimball had one of the best voices back in his day..
Ok I always thought I was singing Steve Lukather's harmony part flat, but, no. That's just how it is... lol
@@eps3154 it used to frustrate me trying to pick his apart because of how off it sounds by itself
I always listen to your Beatles stuff.. And I searched "Africa toto harmonies" and wow theres my boy !!
YES
Me too!

Ugh wth. Too many rules these days :(

I desperately tried to find this video, thanks for reupload!
I thought already : where has it gone!?! Glad it's back!

Thank you Josh :) I remember that comment :))

Grande Daniel!
Please do a full version, this is just perfection

I love how Toto are not just genius instrumentally but vocally. WOW. Thanks for this breakdown
This guy's hair and vocal harmonies are on point! Thanks for sharing this lesson; this song is so iconic.
Mate, you have a superb set of ears to be able to pick out all those vocal harmonies. That was simply amazing.
I must have watched this 100 times over the years. It’s a great song and a flawless breakdown of the song. It’s deceptively complex and has parts that, individually, seem out of place but all mixed together they are wonderful.

"Wouldn't It Be Nice" by Beach Boys please
There are so many great BB contenders and since they influenced The Beatles it would only be logical for him to do their work as well.
Pleeeease
this is great. ive been singing backing on this for years but never realised i was mixing some of the parts up. This song has gained massive popularity with choirs recently, id love to hear your take about how to arrange it for a big gospel choir.
Absolutely incredible. 😢

You're doing God's work man! And unarguably your vocals are fantastic!
I keep coming back here every few months and I try real hard but I can't sing this sh*t man. Respect!

That 3rd and 4th chorus vocals are really clever

This song is often reviled, but it is nonetheless a great song. It just some magic within it.
