It’s not about the event it’s about your decisions
I guess you could say I had the same experience, when I was younger I always being bullied by people but I never liked the thought of beating up another parents child. One day I was playing at a playground with my grandpa and a group of kids way older than me started messing with me, then it turned into a full beat down, they had me on the floor stomping, punching, kicking my head and body all over, I cried begging them to stop, they didn’t care, finally my grandpa came to get them away from me after my twin noticed I was getting beat up badly, one of the kids snuck behind my grandpa, I told him to watch out but it was too late, he took his hat and hit him twice on the top of his head giving him two very big lumps, I didn’t expect them to hit an elderly man but they did and I’m over here bleeding scared for his and my life but thankfully that’s the only time they hit him, (my twin had ran away when they tried to go after him and they couldn’t catch him) since he couldn’t do nothing so I took his phone and called the police, they all ran away but ever since that happened its like something in me awakened, I started fighting back but not just to win, I basically had that “I’m gonna kill him mindset” because every time I fight I just get flashbacks and I just go into kill mode.
Thats why you always have to think more about your safety than your opponents well being. I also had issues in life where I just simply refused to turn the switch on from docile and caring even for my opponent to absulte carnage where I wouldnt even think of stopping.
Big props to you for putting together such a great video, the details were very impressive and definitely shows how loss is not a burden in life but a chance to learn something new.
Cory is a cage fighter. He needs a crazy man's mindset or he'll lose every time he goes into the octagon. In this era of MMA, everyone has to talk a little shit and sound a bit looney thanks to Conor McNuggets. It's how they sell their fights.
@Lemon Head it means that there is an false, outward appearance of safety in today's society. But it is just that, a facade. "Civilized" westerners would go back to rap*ng and pillaging within a week of collapse. Most people would be on the receiving end of this violence and suffering. Many of these same people that would be nothing more than victims if it were to happen tomorrow, will never address the elephant in the room because they are comfortable and *temporarily* removed from the suffering. Social media only compounds this head in the sand approach to the worlds very dark and very real problems. All that to say, not everyone thinks this way, and not everyone should. Ignorance is bliss until you're being beaten to death in the street in front of your family.

You’re one of those guys “I black out when I fight” 🤡 💩
Well that just sounds like ptsd. Wayy far from the point of the video lol
You make the best mma content right now dude fr
Love your videos man. Can you do a video on Charles Olivera and how he learned to never give up?
That would be a good video
You know i would love to he was actually the top of my list on videos i want to make. Man its so hard i wish i could split myself in two sometimes 😂
Yea I can’t wait for a Charlie Olives tribute. Imo, he has the most impressive resume in the LW division.
@@MixedMartialAcademic No worries man! Your videos are amazing. Take the time to keep making them the way they are!
Except when he gave up to Max Holloway. Or he gave up to Paul Felders savage ground and pound. Wait till Islam gets ahold of him.
Love the Fallout reference in the beginning! Your videos are on a DIFFERENT LEVEL!
Thanks to the YT algorithm for recommending this incredible video. Keep up the amazing work. Got yourself a new subscriber!
Awesome, thank you!
Such an amazingly well put together video
Thanks so much my friend!
Big props to you for putting together such a great video, the details were very impressive and definitely shows how loss is not a burden in life but a chance to learn something new.
Thank you so much my friend!
My favorite mma content creator, couldnt wait for a new vid
Thanks so much mate, i hope you enjoyed the video! I alwags appreciate your support my friend!
Cory is a cage fighter. He needs a crazy man's mindset or he'll lose every time he goes into the octagon. In this era of MMA, everyone has to talk a little shit and sound a bit looney thanks to Conor McNuggets. It's how they sell their fights.
I don't think its that crazy of a mindset. Just hidden in the facade of modern physical security
@@toomeyeh1 wtf does that mean
@Lemon Head
it means that there is an false, outward appearance of safety in today's society.
The classical music in the background makes it 100% better. Great job!
Thank you Pedro, that means alot!
That video was an emotional fkn rollercoaster , props dude. Saw your iceberg video and how u got into ufc not that long ago but man I dont even have to say much if your a hardcore this is excellent content my man. Very inspiring as well…
Thanks so much Damian, Corys story is so cool can't wait to see him back! I am actually working on the Updated Iceberg video, it was going crazy in views then got age rerstricted, so redoing it... looking like its going to b well over an hour this time around!
@@MixedMartialAcademic u may not hear this often sir but ur videos keep me sane.
Your videos are genuinely something special man. You are going to make it
It’s crazy how this man’s mindset is just like mine and his story and very similar to mine, I also read the same books
MM Academic and Mixed Molly Whoopery are the two best in the game by far when it comes to MMA character studies. A much needed niche to balance out the "Just bleed" fans and the strong opinioned but ignorant casual types.
We like to keep an open mind around here and im glad to you are apart of thos community! Thanks so much for the kind words!
Molly whoopery is super cringe
Patrick Gaiva videos bring me to tears. Check out his most recent Charles Oliver’s doc
Patrick Gavia and Napoleon Blownapart are great too
Channel is criminally underrated, holy $hit excellent work
Thanks my man!
I love Coreys mindset fight style and how he looks like a sweet young man but he’s really a monster I love to watch his old fights with that sewing machine jab on u just on u non stop it beautiful
Phenomenal work love your videos
big props from a fellow UK MMA fan
Chito & Sandhagen is going to be bananas - this is a title fight in my eyes, both of these dudes are ruthless assassin killers
Gotta love the Sandman. I haven’t watched the video yet but I remember Sandhagen said in an interview that he has a psychology degree and I really like the way he describes a fighter’s mindset.
Second to none video. Very well put together, script was great. Marvelous.
I think so many young people and kids that have dreams of being an MMA fighter or boxer don't realize the kind of mindset they have to have and how strong mentally they need to be.
You can develop mental strength as you age
@DVelasquez That's good. Sadly I grew up being sent to a gym that was basically just daycare. We didn't learn much of anything
Wow, this essay was really well written, incredible!
Cory deserves to be in the HOF some day. He may never win a belt but he carries himself like a champ and never complains
HOF??? That’s a bit strong
subbed man I like your approach to these documentaries and the voice matches this style perfectly
I cannot put into words how grateful I am for ur videos, keep it up 💪🏻👏🏻
Hey thanks so much my man i appreciate that! Take it easy maye and i hope you are well
amazing docs you make dude
Thanks very much my friend! Appreciate the kind words 🙏
I have a new favorite Academic video. Thank you so much for blessing your viewers with such good content. Cory is a warrior through and through no doubt about it. Thank you, Academic
Whats up Ethan! Hope you are well. Cory is such a beast, it was great to have the oppertunity to write about him/
Beautifully made and high quality. You have such a way with words my friend. Love this!
Thank you so much mate, I hope you are well!
These videos are amazing I can’t explain it but the quality is amazing and it digs deep into the fighters Glad I’m going to be able to see this channel explode keep up the great work
Thanks so much antonio! We are on this journey together my man!
Ever since I’ve heard him speak on jre I knew that dude was just different from the others not physically but mentally
Damnnn your video's are VERY entertaining. Nice storytelling too.
wow, this was not just a great insight to Sandhagen, but also some strong Mental Health tips, and help or guidance, (which ever you prefer to use) for even just daily battles that WE ALL have in our lives, not just inside the octagon… thanks 😊 I really appreciated this Upload.
Thank you my friend, I am happy you found something in it my friend!
Dude, your soundtracks slap. Thanks.
He's not that special.
People overthink this sport as some quasi-war simulator. It's not. It's a sport of who's the better hand to hand fighter within the rules of MMA.
This pseudo-philosophical video is goofy. You take this too seriously. Cmon now.
you thought that this might not be for you then? and that it might mean something to someone else? no only you matter.
@@MixedMartialAcademic I'm just leaving a comment since the comments are open. I'm a huge fan of MMA and have a great interest in History and ancient warfare. I just think you're making a mountain out of a molehole here. Take it or leave it. Good day.
@@asAbsolute I took it and replied to it mate, - as the comments are as you say, open. Take it or leave it. Good day.
I love fighters that study ancient tomes of warfare and strategy. Cory knows to seek knowledge and also make savage the body. The Perfect Warrior Monk.
Unfortunately for him, he's not intimidating at all
Nothing is intimidating from afar, even death - when last did you contemplate it?
Thankyou especially for the last Mantra on Facing Fear
War is not... 'Art'.
Chilling. Great work on this one.
Who did the poem at the end? I know the name “litany against fear” but where did you get that version of recording?
That was a voice actor I hired from an agency :)
@@MixedMartialAcademic wow impressive! I kept googling it and could not find it. Loved it! Great gym motivation. If there’s somehow you can upload a video of that alone would be awesome!
@@PhdMusic03 If you would like the audio send me a DM over on Insta or email and I can get it across to you!
@@MixedMartialAcademicyou’re awesome! DM’d you moments ago.
was not expecting such a good video! wow! great job man
Your story telling approach is amazing!
Ur fighter docs are fire asf very in depth and entertaining keep up the good work
Appreciate that, thanks a lot mate!
Damn...that last minute made me tear up. Great video
you make the highest quality of content in the whole youtube mma sphere always hyped when these drop
Thanks you man for always being here i appreciate it my friend!
The "eternal black void" is CTE and sadly, it wins on all cards in combat sports.
amazing video my brother
Thank you Fabian I appreciate that very much!
These are so good man, keep it up with more vids
Great video. Very well edited and tasteful
You deserve way more subscribers these videos are so well done so beautiful and eye opening
You know how you can find boxing channels that document fighters careers with a great storytelling presentation? That's this channel but for MMA. That goodness I finally found a channel that can document these careers with so much quality. Good work!
I appreciate that my friend! Just want do justice by these fighters my man!
This one's a certified banger. Great editing, really like the aesthetics.
Thank you mate, I actually just picked up, On killing after you mentioned it, seen it before but you just reminded me of it.
@@MixedMartialAcademic It's a good book, but Grossman himself is a religious cook. He goes around cashing in on his rep to give "Bulletproof Warrior" seminars where he essentially tells police they're soldiers of god, like the knights of old, who need to protect the hapless sheep and be ready to kill at a moment's notice to do it.
@@AdobadoFantastico 😂 well, lets hope he doesn't end up cornering fighters anytime soon
One of the best videos I’ve seen🔥🔥
1000th comment, great video! The quotes at the end... 😉
liked the video and subbed after the fallout reference at 1:45. i’m going to like this channel
Mate fallout 3 walking out of the vault... Made my choldhood!
