My piano interest really took off when my aunt gave me a Chopin record when I was about six years old. I pleaded for piano lessons and got them and did reasonably well studying piano and loved it.

This and all music means to me what Meastro Dudamel explained when he talked about Mahler, in his room, screaming to whomever, "I'm here!" through the music he was writing. Such beautiful music and I believe that the Meastro, though very energetic, does an amazing job catching the essence of Mahler's music. I hope to hear him live someday, that would be a dream come true.

This video shows how much conductors have to know. They study the history of music and know the stories behind the music, which brings greater depth of understanding to the music.

He has plenty of depth. No one in the planet make music as well as Maestro Dudamel. He does not have to prove anything to anybody.

"Mahler's 9th Symphony is like, the end of life! The last moments! Letting go! I love you Alma!!!"
This is the standard trope on Mahler 9 that's been re-recycled by all liner notes since forever.
BTW, Alma was a wealthy socialite with a string of high-profile age-imbalanced relationships. Everyone went on and on about her beauty/charm, despite her mediocre talent and amorality. Mahler's "true love" for this women is mere sexual trivia, a fun-size Snickers bar, next to his life and work.

blah, blah, blah, it has nothing to do with his accent, He can memorize a score and read sheet music and jump in the air etc. but he has no classical intellect. This is a real PR hype with no depth.
