James Last was a genius musician. A mastermind - like a wizard made musical reconstructions with the bands. The instrumental arrangement productions and multi-colored melodies played by the Orchestra are eternally remembered master pieces. I listen to James Last's everlasting music almost every day and I love it. Malka Smith 26/11/2017

And on guitar is Peter Hesslein - who was also in 70's Heavy Rock act Lucifer's Friend, who had John Lawton on vocals (who was once with the Les Humphries Singers) who went on to join Uriah Heep in 1976 - a connection being James Last's version of their classic Easy Livin (though that was originally sung by David Byron). Back in the 70's my dad used to collect James Last tapes - some of that may well have filtered into my memory and stuck there under the surface until now as I didnt think I'd be able to sit through and like this stuff being brought up on and still loving heavy and progressive rock. Having listened to a number of these concerts on You Tube I can appreciate the musical chops these guys have and the arranging skills of James Last - e.g his superb version of Greensleeves on this.

my mother is now already 20 years dead and gone, she also loved james last music, but as I introduced her in the seventies f.e. to mike oldfield`s tubular bells, she never touched a james last - record any more. she later said, this is stupid-music for very simple people and I thank god that I have 4 children who introduced me to better and more intelligent music..........I think she`s right.

James Last, Raymond Lefevre, Paul Mauriat, they all had the musical ear and skills to extract the best melody out of hit songs. They made even the mediocre songs much better.

Would love to see more of James Last shows from the 60s and early 70s. That is what I love best that era. Probably this was where Last was at his most Productive with the A go go albums, non stop dancing albums etc. My mum had Last of old england, Sax a gogo, Games that Lovers Play, Non Stop Evergreens, Yesterday's memories and Love must be the reason in her record collection so as a young boy I grew up listening to those. Later I added Trumpet a go go 1 and 3, Hammond a Go Go 3 and others that aquired at markets and things. Great stuff- American Patrol from Trumpet a go go is my favourite

I've lots more Starparade videos from the 70s to put up Cameron so watch this space :) I was brought up on a staple diet of Hansi's music by my Dad whose first ever record was actually a 45rpm single of American Patrol! Mr. Last will always be an idol of mine and God bless him he's still going strong at the ripe old age of 85 :)

The arrangements are to die for - contemporary tunes in a timeless format. Hansi made it happen, and everyone incl. the band and himself had a lot of fun. That's how it should be !

Hotel Dorchester Live Show of James Last in London 1974 thirty years after the end of WW2!
A bit of hesitation seems to hold him do his talks.
But as the evening went on with his friendly and open show the British audience began to appreciate and even participate clapping and standing in some of his music!
    Peace to All✌️
