This happened to me in Massachusetts. I was pulled over by a State Trooper in the city while driving my Mercedes during Covid in 2021. Firstly he had no reason to pull me over. First thing he asked "Is this your car?" Then, are you sure this is your car? I am a young black male who is a Chemical Engineer, but I am not flashy! This also happend to me in Queens, NY. The whole stop lasted for 1 hr!!! The white female cop never told me why she pulled me over, almost like she was seriously searching for a reason to lock me up. These are some of the people the DA will never stop protecting!!!!
close to that happened to me too. I had this 93 Firebird. Got it for cheap because the guy was a deadbeat. his father-in-law gave it to him new as a wedding present and he basically ran it till even the wiper lost the rubber and was scratching the glass. Anyway, i got it for a song and fixed it up myself. Silver with white leather interior, bulge in the hood for that massive engine and the Burla quads. Put a ghost graphic across the quarter panel and the chicken on the hood.
I was in class when a buddy came in and said I was getting a ticket. He had tried to tell the cop that I was legally parked but his response was that he had been watching me every day and I acted like i was hot sht so I can go fight the ticket in court and if he passed by an I was still there he was going to have my car towed.
How fuccking scary is that. A cop i had no idea existed was watching me, getting jealous of what I had and decided to abuse his power to fuc me up. I decided to change my EDC to my 1911 10mm the very next day.
Exactly!!! The same thing happened to me! Both when I was driving and when I was walking somewhere. The only thing is, I am a black woman. I wear very low haircuts/almost bald, however, I always wear my jewelry and sometimes I wear makeup. Black is my favorite color, so I tend to wear a lot of black/dark clothing. I especially love wearing my hoodies to keep me warm, and because of the pandemic we have been wearing masks. I'd been stopped and pulled over in traffic several times, I asked why. I was told I fit the description of a suspect. What was the description and what was the alleged crime? No answer. I told the officers that I'm a woman, gave them my license. Once they realized that I'm a woman, they let me go. Still never told the reasons for detainment!!

This happened to my cousin shortly after he got out of the military. He bought a brand new Impala. Cops followed him from the dealership for a 1 mile down the road and pulled him over. He recorded the whole thing. They made him get out of the car, cuffed him, and made him sit on the curb. They called in the drug sniffing dogs. Searched the whole car inside and out with mirrors and everything. 2 hours later, when they found nothing, because he did nothing wrong. They took his phone. Deleted the video. Uncuffed him. Handed it back to him and told him to have a nice day. This was in Texas. He didn't file a complaint because he was afraid that if the cops would do all of that, that they would go after him and possibly kill him.

It is disgraceful what some police officers do in the name of law enforcement. When I sold real estate in a rich Connecticut town, I would sometimes remain at work as late as 3am. I was also working on a book at the time and loved the solitude. Suddenly, police cars began parking within our premises just outside my window, and would stay there until I left for home. They would even follow me for a few miles. One late night I came home, and once upstairs in my condo, realized that I had left a document I wanted to read in the car. Hurrying downstairs, I was flabbergasted to see two officers circling my car and flashing lights inside it. They said not a word to me when I challenged them. They instead got in their car and simply drove away. I suspect that they were embarrassed.
I have multiple college diplomas, don't smoke or party. I love to work. Why then was I being so brazenly profiled?

FYI: Traffic stops requires an infraction, not just a random search. Please, please file a complaint and sue. Some officers feel like they are above the law.
Even with a traffic infraction, you still have the right to not have to give consent to search.

There was no traffice stop, the vehicle was parked so there was no traffic violation!! there was no probable cause either for inspecting or demanding that this young man should open is vehicle for an illegal search, which wasn't warranted!!! This was harrassment and intimidation in a condesending manner.

Don't feel bad! About 40 years ago I purchased a 1976 Chevy Monte Carlo, "Beautiful", in 1978 and took it over to my friends house to show him. As we were just chilling, leaning on it the PoPo showed up and asked whos car are you leaning on. I said mine. They said you're to young to own a car like this. I said' it's mine. They got out of the car and told me and my friend to put our hands on the car. I asked why? Because I said so was the answer. I said, hey I have the registration in the glove box. Totally ignored me. We then call out to my friends mom to help. We got cuffed and about to be pushed into the patrol car when my friends mom saved us. Final words from the police ,"Stay Out Of Trouble"! They are the trouble!

3. Get their name and badge number.
4. Inform them that if they continue to Harass you to expect a lawsuit.
5. After that they should just leave, if not keep recording, file your lawsuit.

We need a national centralized police database where citizens can verify a police officer’s complaint history, employment, psychological test results, lawsuits, assaults and shootings. It must have both face and profile photos, fingerprints and a DNA sample. As long as we don’t implement this database , we will never get transparency. Something of this magnitude needs to be done.

He had the right to be upset. That’s human emotion. I feel so sorry that this young man had to go through this. Now a days haters are in every sector and walks of life. How does anyone, especially a adult, not have the discipline to suppress their toxic jealousy? There was once a time when people were too ashamed to openly display the jealousy within them. Now we have people who aren’t ashamed to display low level and toxic behavior.
These types of people need to figure out a way to get their own and let others be who have theirs. And be happy. There is so much free information on social media that teaches how to obtain wealth. May not be overnight, but it’s possible. This officer displayed jealousy and his current state of lack.

The police also have the right to feel upset as well, you realize police are humans as well right? If this guy is a very successful individual like he says, he more than likely has his ego trips and superiority complex as any other highly successful person. The officer isn't immune to verbal abuse, whether you believe it or not, he's a human like any other and what he should've done, was be less defensive and be more open with the officer, people should learn to befriend the police not make them out to be the enemy.
You also don't know exactly what happened, We know of what information the young entrepreneur said, the correct thing to do would be to get the officer on an interview and hear his side of the story. The fact that you believe people are jealous is a also a projection of your self, your jealous of others. Nothing is as simple as you make it be, its multi faceted.

This happened to me in Cobb county, Georgia in Kennesaw. The officer sat behind me at the light, when the light changed he pulled me over. I was in the car with my 11 year old son driving a convertible, with the top down. The young white officer said my car was reported stolen, which I knew was a lie. I'd never ever been in any kind of trouble with the law, so this was extremely uncomfortable and I couldn't understand why he was really stopping me in all of that traffic in an upscale area. The officer and I went back and forth. He ended by saying you need to check on this and he the let me go. I had not done a thing wrong, so there was no citation, nothing. And if my car had been stolen, why would he let me drive off in it? I've never been afraid of the police and is still not, because I'm one of those people who abides by the law, I follow the rules but now, I also know they'll stop you just because you are black and you have something nice and they just can't stand it. These racist pig color people are no different than they were back in the day when they were destroying successful black cities because 🐖 are so full of hate and jealously. It's who they are, they can't help themselves and it's never going to change.

He should contact a lawyer and sue the city. The police broke protocol, and he should have known better. It's not a citizen's job to remind police of their training. If the car was reported stolen. There should be no issues with bringing up that report. If a report can't be brought up...the police officer should be suspended...WITHOUT PAY and a lawsuit should go through, but the young guy needs to hire a good lawyer. The time to do it is now...since it hit the news. This was nothing but jealousy.

He didn't know his rights, therefore he didn't know his rights were being violated. He had no legal obligation to identify himself and he had no obligation to open his car for a search. A cop must be able to reasonably articulate a crime he suspects that you have, is or about to commit. (Terry V Ohio) No crime No ID. These are clear 4th amendment violations and I hope he follows through with litigation. Forget that complaint, file the lawsuit for deprivation of rights under the color of law. Title 18 USC section 241/242. On top of that, they violated your 1st amendment right to redress grievances with your government by ignoring your complaint. Lawyer!!

That isnt really practical. If a crooked cop wants to search your car, he will just say he smelled marijuana or that the young man drove erratically. He will then be justified in searching the vehicle. He's lucky that the cop didnt plant any drugs.

I’m so sorry this happened to this young man. I’m interested to know what the probable cause the cop claimed to have. But he did the right thing by not trying to fight with the cops. Just report them the next day with your lawyer. It’s like a parent going to the school principal if they have a problem with a teacher. You wouldn’t walk into a classroom and confront the teacher in the middle of class.
But, don't allow them to search. To justify their search, they will plant some or other evidence of a crime.
Don’t let them search without a warrant. Tell them you don’t consent.

Never agree to searches. Understand what is lawful and unlawful order. Never surrender your rights if you have committed or been informed if the exact law (misdemeanor or felony or state statute) that you're in violation of. If that can't be done by them, then it's lawsuit for harassment, profiling, and scrutiny at the minimum level

The cop isn’t required too spell anything out to you. There’s no requirements too quote sections of the law, case law or constitutional laws. Just say you don’t agree too being searched. But if you been smoking in the car, he was the legal authority to search it; Under the exception, a vehicle may be searched without a warrant when evidence or contraband may possibly be removed from the scene due to the mobility of a vehicle such that it is not practical to secure a warrant without jeopardizing the potential evidence.
